  2. Good quiz neesy. I was certain it was McDonough, one of those facts I've carried round with me since I was 8, be sick if it's not even correct. Wouldn't recognise the bloke if he punched me in the face like.
  3. Asymptomatic but has had a test? EDIT: ah he's in hospital anyway, interesting.
  4. Then they go bust, hopefully taken over by their communities or maybe, just maybe it’s time club owners put their money into their businesses as that’s what they are, in order to keep them going. Many owners already do this though in the EFL. The conception of owners buying clubs to make money only comes from NUFC fans amazingly enough. I’m not sure of your point Neesy? For me, maybe the game crashing and going bust and restarting is the best outcome of all. I’d love to see a live game on the telly, but right now, even games behind closed doors just to finish a season so LFC can lift their trophy in front of a social media audience or so clubs can get some TV money for example, would, in the grand scheme of things, be selfish and irresponsible. Not when they can just void the season, which is fair to all and means all clubs will share the same situation. Now if they played games behind closed doors for TV money to pay staff... Voiding the season is by far the least fair outcome.
  5. Just using that as an example.i’m sure villa,Bournemouth etc wouldn’t like to be relegated because the season was rushed through just to placate the media. Placate the media? Eh? What's the media got to do with it? Why is next season, which doesn't exist, more important than finishing this season, which does? Flip this the other way...why are you so adamant that this season should finish with all the problems the country is facing. Why are you so adamant that next season should start with all the problems the country is facing? If we accept the notion that at some point football will resume, whether that be in a week, a month or a year, it should be the current season that we go back into. I'm not advocating they all kick off at 3 o'clock tomorrow.
  6. Someone like Steve Gibson at Middlesbrough doesn't have the money to pay Championship salaries for months on end without any TV or gate money, the notion is ridiculous. Just because someone owns a club doesn't mean they have a bottomless pit of money.

  8. So you want to finish the season so your own club won't get relegated? I'm not totally convinced it's a basis on which the footballing authorities should be making final decisions.
  9. Then what happens when next season shuts down early due to a second wave of cases? Do we cancel that season too, give Norwich City yet another stay of execution and another £100m for staying in the top flight? The current season has to take priority, at least when it's done everyone will have some breathing room to decide what to do next.
  10. In reality you'd need many hundreds of people in mass quarantine for weeks to make it work, and if one person gets it the whole thing shuts down again. It sounds good but I'm not convinced it's practically possible.
  11. Interesting story coming out about Wimbledon (tennis) compared to most other sporting events who've been left looking screwed. They added a pandemic clause to their insurance after SARS and they're about to collect £100m payout on it.
  12. neesy, is there going to be a round on Italian managers of the 1950s?

Yeah the employer can make up the difference if they wish, there's no obligation.

Someone sent me that last week, quite good I thought.

Good. £125m down the football pyramid as well it seems. I'm more bothered about that in this context than money to the NHS, that's for the state to worry about.
  17. Let's face it, the real culprit at Ewood Park was Shaka Hislop's utterly embarrassing goalkeeping.

“But the thing with this current situation is, it shouldn’t be left up to the lads to make individual donations. The non-playing staff wage bill isn’t that big. The club should fork out for that or the fucking owners should; they’re richer than any of us.” That’s pretty much exactly what I’ve been saying and you disagreed with it? The last point is that the FA and Premier League should mandate pay cuts. You disagreed because you don't want anything taking off the poor souls. I would have thought the left wing position is that nobody should have that much money, money that they cannot possibly spend. Must change my definition of socialism to "hoard as much money as possible as long as you can claim to have earned it" letf wing = socialism? Umm... yes? height=400https://i.imgur.com/S0wN0Yc.png[/img]

I've never said they should volunteer themselves. In fact I specifically said the complete opposite - mandatory pay cuts, like the rest of society has had, only most of them would actually notice, unlike footballers.

Love to know who this is: https://www.football365.com/news/feature-premier-league-player-wage-cut-matt-hancock Never agreed with anything more in my life. Wouldn't be surprised if it's Milner since he's never used an agent.

Amazing how quickly avid lefties will turn into free market capitalists when it comes to footballers having to give anything up.
