  1. Just what we need in the end times, the worst night of our lives replayed in prime time.

    Players wages

Are there any higher paid employees in this country than footballers? Genuine question. IMO the PL/FA should have taken the lead from the very start. As soon as the leagues were suspended it should have been pay cuts across the board, all into a big pot and shared down the pyramid to support the clubs further down who will die without even a few weeks of gate receipts. They look obscenely greedy at this point and it won't be forgotten.

Why should it be 20%? Why not take them down to the furlough cap of £2500 a month?

That's why some people (as in many millions) are being furloughed down to 80% or being made redundant - to cover costs elsewhere in the business, whether it be a pub or an airline or a factory, affected by this, such as wages. BA have done it today: https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-ba-nears-deal-to-furlough-36-000-staff-report-11967241

You've not noticed tens of millions of people being made redundant or having their pay reduced? The chancellor said "oh yeah if you've got a cleaning job that you can't do, we'll give you 80% of your £12k annual salary" and most people said that's a pretty good compromise given the circumstances. But then someone mentioned maybe the footballers on £120k a week could do down to 80% and all I've seen is weeping over those poor poor people. They apparently have to keep every penny of it. Really fucking weird.
  6. Yeah they're only one game before the convoluted play offs start so they've basically just cancelled them and are taking the league as is.
  7. Belgium have cancelled their league and are taking the standings as they are.

Post the apocalypse, when the world stands smouldering and humanity verges on extinction, there'll still be people going "why should the players be taking wage cuts, this isn't their fault!"

Football in England is currently showing itself up in the most obscene way.
  10. Count me out for next week if this cunt's playing.
  11. Big one off Benton Road, it was alright actually. Decently stocked and they're operating a 1 in, 1 out policy kind of thing so there's not many people at all in store at once. I had to queue to get in but only for a couple of minutes and everyone was keeping their distance.
  12. I agree but I think it's the only way they can do it now. Before a vaccine is created, crowds aren't going to be allowed to form and nobody is going to be want to be part of them anyway. I went to Sainsburys today and felt like I was dicing with death, and you could tell everyone else in there felt the same. It's just not going to be possible to go back to any sort of crowd situation pre-vaccine so it's either closed doors or over a year without football.
  13. I see he's put pictures of him training in his back garden and his daughter running around, it's right near the church at the top of Osborne Road.
  14. Agree. There's a very good chance this thing will spike up again anyway before a vaccine is found, are they then going to fucking off two consecutive seasons?
  15. Loving the amount of "can't believe they've done this, shocking" sentiments around. Like being surprised the sky's blue.

  18. It does if people's lives are at risk, surely. Same goes for any other sport or events with large groups of spectators. I don't mean in terms of large gatherings and the fixtures being fulfilled soon, I mean once things are back to something approaching normal, it's bugger all to do with government whether the leagues are void or played to a conclusion later.
  19. Aye it's got fuck all to do with the government how the leagues sort themselves out.
