  1. They have no reason to let him know about any bid. He's got a right to know iyam. Why? If it's rejected, he's not leaving anyway. If he's that bothered about wanting to be away, he shouldn't have put his name on a five year contract in the first place.

  3. Ashley certainly should have the funds available to spend a considerable amount of money. He shouldn't need to go into his back pocket to do so.
  4. so you dont see ther problem when team a's manager announces to the press he'd like player y. then player y starts itching for a move and players y's club.club q have a choice of having a player who wants away or giving in to club a at probably below the market value ? Honestly? No. It wasn't like he made an official statement anyway. He was asked if he was interested in Berbatov, he said yes, and will be making an offer. If the player is unsettled by that, well, that's just tough shit. If the club we're desperate to keep him they would, like Southgate has done with Downing for example. Downing probably doesn't particularly want to leave though, he's making a hefty wedge playing for his hometown club. Bit different for Berbatov or Barry. I think it's shocking that a top four side can just click their fingers and either take a player or leave you with an unhappy player who's neither use nor ornament and the FA will do nothing about it.
  5. defending aint just about the back 4 It was here for the most of last season it's been my constant rattle on this and every football forum i've ever been on...defending,like attacking is a team thing. blaming the back 4 alone for the defending is like blaming a forward for a lack of goals when he is getting no support or service. that and "attacking" and "defensive" midfielders...the best ones and the ones we ought to be looking for if we are going to 4-4-2....do both well I agree. I actually think Barton could do a "Rob Lee" if he could get his head right, on what he did for Citeh anyway.

    Tim Krul

I get the impression Carroll thinks he's made it as well. I wouldn't care if he'd shown anything to suggest it. I also think we'd be daft to sell Krul.
  7. Probably about right considering the prices some "Premiership" strikers go for. It's all relative.
  8. I always find it curious when foreign agents say Club X (usually Newcastle) have been in discussions with them. Usually a sure fire way to tell that it's nonsense because neither players nor agents should be talking to anyone until a bid has been accepted.

Are you talking about Carroll or Krul?
  10. Fuck off Levy, you horrible Spurs twat. I agree though. Tosser.
  11. I'm optimistic but that's just plain wrong. and maybe an AM I'm a Barton & Geremi fan you see Definitely in need of at least one more quality midfielder and desperate for a centre forward imo. Creativity in midfield has been lacking a bit, but an in-form Barton is very good (unfortunately not an incarcerated Barton though) Not sure centre forward is all that urgent - but Viduka staying fit is highly unlikely I just think we are sh*t at the back, especially as far as strength in depth goes We've not seen it from Barton though, and who knows where his head will be when he gets out of chokey? To add to that, Butt's legs are going - hopefully Guthrie can step up to the plate and be a better player than many think. We've got two of the most injury prone strikers in the country and absolutely no back up worthy of the Premiership so I think there is an urgency there. Neither Smith, Shola nor Carroll should be starting games. We do need defenders too though. Behind the first choice back four, we have very little on offer - and I'm not a Taylor fan anyway.

  14. Apparently he's now saying he'd still rather go to Barca but if Hartlepool come in for him, he's prepared to listen.
  15. Or perhaps Benfica offered better wages, so he decided to go there. Then he announces that he always wanted to go to Benfica in order to endear himself to his new employers / fans. So it's not "End of" at all really, is it? better wages my arse, the max wage in portugal is 30-40k and that is for the queresma's etc, he decided to go there to play in europe and because he old manager is there we still haven't been named as the club, and the club hasn't came out to say they we're interested until that happens we didn't try and sign him if we try fine, but it was always gonna be an up hill struggle unless we offered stupid amounts Why would we come out and say it was us? What do we possibly have to gain from that? We've been named by every news source going, in this country and abroad. There's no guarantees, but it's fairly likely it was us. You realise they were all rehashes of Nixon's bullshit article? A search of the Spanish and Portuguese media yesterday for 'Aimar' and 'Newcastle' was bringing up very little. The same media sources in Spain which claimed Benfica had upped their bid to match "our £7m" are now universally claiming that Benfica paid the original fee of £6m - so either they were lying today or they were lying yesterday. The rags know jack shit man. How many times does it have to be made blatantly obvious?

  18. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if a "Toon source" is feeding the papers misinformation just for shits and giggles. Not Aimar though, I think that was just shit.
  19. WRONG. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/2008/07/16/exclusive-newcastle-to-sign-argentine-ace-pablo-aimar-89520-20645388/ You look quite the fool now, lovejoy.
