  1. Bet they won't get the media backlash like we have at times. I agree with them though, fuck him.
  2. Gary Speed was also a winger when we signed him from Everton. Certainly remember him playing alot of games on the left of midfield for them, and iirc did so for us at the start before being switched over by Sir Bobby. Speed never truely was happy playing out on the left wing ever since he left Leeds. He started with us on the Left side, cos basically since Dalglish go rid of our world class winger, we had no one to fill that roll. Speed early days with us got a fair amount of stick from some very fickle fans, but really he was playing out of position, once he moved inside we saw what a quality player he was. Everton fans absolutely hate him though, I have no idea what went on there, they used to have a song for him "Oh Gary, Gary....Gary, Gary, Gary, Gary Shithouse Speed" Love Everton fans they're the best http://www.nufc.com/html/speed-house.html
  3. We were still without Enrique, Cacapa, Smith, Faye and Beye at this point last summer weren't we? I'd like to have had all our signings in before pre season but I'm not going to go slitting my wrists just yet because I think, although we are short of bodies, for the first team we just need a couple of top class players to really spark us off (and you never know, we might have already bought one).
  4. Wouldn't be the first average winger KK has converted to a top class central midfielder. Here's hoping.
  5. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1453327.ece Quotes to suggest KK will try Milner in the middle. Might suit him better imo.
  6. "Aye, probably, they all look the same" said Miles.

    Linked to players..

The word 'linked' is the key. It translates as "I've just made this up."
  8. Well put. I'm always annoyed when people say "Yeah Chelsea have spent loads but so have Man Utd" when Man Utd have earned it by being absolutely fucking brilliant for the past 15 years on account of their incredible manager and the youths they brought through in the 90s, not by being the fashionable choice for Abramovich's toy.
  9. We never went anywhere with Hislop given that his display at Blackburn cost us the title.
  10. Pav played the last four, kept clean sheets at Arsenal, Man Utd, West Ham and at SJP against Forest.
  11. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article4368656.ece Keegan quoted as seeking "four quality players" apparently. I've not seen those quotes before anyway.
  12. At least Oba and Shola managed to beat some players and have some shots. Smith gets worse every time I see him, he'll have to drop further than League 1 to reach his true level.
  13. SSN doing some shit stirring. "He wouldn't speak to David Craig, can we read anything into that?" Aye David Craig's a cunt.
  14. They have no reason to let him know about any bid. He's got a right to know iyam. Why? If it's rejected, he's not leaving anyway. If he's that bothered about wanting to be away, he shouldn't have put his name on a five year contract in the first place.
  15. They have no reason to let him know about any bid.
  16. Ashley certainly should have the funds available to spend a considerable amount of money. He shouldn't need to go into his back pocket to do so.
  17. so you dont see ther problem when team a's manager announces to the press he'd like player y. then player y starts itching for a move and players y's club.club q have a choice of having a player who wants away or giving in to club a at probably below the market value ? Honestly? No. It wasn't like he made an official statement anyway. He was asked if he was interested in Berbatov, he said yes, and will be making an offer. If the player is unsettled by that, well, that's just tough shit. If the club we're desperate to keep him they would, like Southgate has done with Downing for example. Downing probably doesn't particularly want to leave though, he's making a hefty wedge playing for his hometown club. Bit different for Berbatov or Barry. I think it's shocking that a top four side can just click their fingers and either take a player or leave you with an unhappy player who's neither use nor ornament and the FA will do nothing about it.
  18. defending aint just about the back 4 It was here for the most of last season it's been my constant rattle on this and every football forum i've ever been on...defending,like attacking is a team thing. blaming the back 4 alone for the defending is like blaming a forward for a lack of goals when he is getting no support or service. that and "attacking" and "defensive" midfielders...the best ones and the ones we ought to be looking for if we are going to 4-4-2....do both well I agree. I actually think Barton could do a "Rob Lee" if he could get his head right, on what he did for Citeh anyway.
