Because they both aren't fit either & are both recovering from injury. Once they're fit (or if they ever get fit in Viduka's case) Ameobi will be back in the reserves. Surely they aren't match 'fit' and weren't carrying knocks as Ameobi was said to be? Hughton didn't have the balls to change a winning side - abeit a patched up one (the team at WBA) -

The photo of the Nolan tackle is shocking. How the kid's leg isn't broken is beyond me. Am I right in thinking it seems out of character for Nolan? Don't seem to remember him getting sent off for anything that bad when he was at Bolton. I also hope that Duff and Ameobi are dropped for next week. The former - I called it before the game in saying that he hasn't got the ability to put two good performances together. £70K a week? It's a joke. As for Ameobi - was as pitiful a peformance I've seen since Rob McDonald. I've tried to stick up for him in the past, but the fact that he's been given a new deal speaks volumes. Apparently he missed some training this week. Begs the question if it's true, why was he risked ahead of Martins or Viduka? Woeful tatics from Hughton and Calderwood. Everton were there to be beaten today - had we been brave enough to have a go. It's a missed opportunity and we could now be looking until the back end of April to see our next home point. Anyone feeling confident with the Mancs, Arsenal and Chelsea being the next 3 visitors? Season can't end quick enough for me now. -

We weren't actually playing that well before the sending off, IMO. No shots on target and Howard never had a save to make. Add to that, little cohesion in the midfield. Did we even force a corner? -

I thought Hughton got his substitutes spot on today. Not denying that. But his starting XI wasn't the right choice, when you had the likes of Martins and Jonas available. -

Could be a crucial point in the end - the defence did really well after we went down to 10men. However, doesn't excuse the fact that Hughton got his team selection very wrong, and also the cowardly challenge from Nolan. This was a game we could have won, if we had been brave enough. Begs the question - is Hughton doing what he is told from 'above', in the absence of Kinnear? -

Awful first half from us - well played Hughton! However, what the hell was Kevin Nolan thinking with that tackle? Disgraceful and cowardly and of course means that he now misses the Bolton game next week. Coincidence? I think not. We need Martins on for Ameobi at HT and look to hit them on the break. This club's ability to self-implode never ceases to amaze me. I should no better by now. -

Like the W.B.A game? Duff did well against WBA - no denying that. However, can you tell me when he's played two good games in a row for us since he joined? Ameobi was no great shakes v WBA and apparently has missed some training this week. Sincerely hope that this team selection doesn't come back to bite us on the arse. -

Hughton has bottled it for me. Just txt'd my mate who is at the game - groans all round on the concourse when the teams were announced on TV. I know Martins will lack match fitness - but again, surely the only way you get match fit is to play games? I await another non-performance from Duff and Ameobi playing like he's got two bags of cement on his feet. -

No Jonas? Bizarre - as well as Ryan Taylor did at WBA - Jonas surely had to start? I thought we might sneak the win today - not sure now. -
Zammora scores - has been coming Anyone else notice the lack of celebration from the Fulham fans behind the goal? Welcome to the modern day football fan!

In case there's anyone out there who still doesn't understand...

The PL are worried because they fear losing control. If they weren't as greedy, players weren't earning so much and clubs not charging the earth for tickets, then more fans would go to games. People are choosing to watch online because it's expensive to go. -
Yup - there's no protection for their back 4, whatsoever. Having said that - I've got a feeling WBA might pinch this..... hope I'm wrong.

Fulham have hit the woodwork 3 times so far. West Brom's defending is abysmal.

I'd go for starting Oba with Lovenkrands. Everton's back line isn't particularly quick, and so pace could be the key here. Can understand folk not being sure of Martins, but the only way he'll get match fitness is to play games. Simple as that really. I'm hoping for a win, although Everton do have an excellent away record. Cahill will be a massive miss though. -
agreed.

One of my dad's favourite toon players from the early-mid 60's. Hope he manages to make a full recovery.

Top article and a true professional as well. An antidote to the modern professional footballer. Players like Harper are so rare in the game now, it's untrue.

Because taking the mick out of those less fortunate than yourself is nout new. It's not something that only is done by your average joe. Could be the fella is hammered, but he doesn't sound it.

Biggs. He could very well have a learning disability and if that's true, then those who are taking the piss need to have a good look at themselves.

I remember listening to this on the radio - memories from .com; 1992 Blackburn Rovers (a) 1-3 (1-1) Division Two Kelly Speedie(3) 19,511 Game two of Kevin Keegan's managerial reign, and the celebrations in the away end when David Kelly opened the scoring were as nothing compared to the unrestrained venom directed at Rovers striker David Speedie. The diminutive jock grabbed all three Rovers goals and seemed to have a death wish as he celebrated scoring the second two in front of the away end, some of whom sought to join him on the field.... The rest of the away contingent contented themselves with prolonged choruses of "We've all sh*gged your wife, Speedie, Speedie" ------------- Speedie was one of those players we loved to hate and I remember the radio saying there was hell on, when he celebrated infront of the Darwen End..... So was anyone there that day and can remember what happened?

Being married and having a kid means other priorities at the moment. Packed my s/t in at the end of 2006/07 and have been to the odd game since then. Football isn't no longer a game for the working man with a family to look after.

If a replacement comes in - I hope to hell that it isn't Poyet. Nothing against the lad personally, but he just doesn't have the experience. Suspect it will be him though, as he's buddy of Wise.
