Just been on Radio Newcastle - Mick Lowes confirmed to me that Best and Lovenkrands start. Asked Ando about Ranger - he reckons he may well be gonna be used in the 2nd half as an 'impact' sub. Have to say - I'm worried as to where the goals are gonna come from tonight. Apparently Shola developed a 'problem' this morning, which they've tried to keep quiet today.

I agree that Nolan has done well as an MC recently. More to do with Tiote alongside of him, which he noted in the post match interview.

I'd be interested in a loan deal for him - however, a big fee/wages would be a worry on a permanent basis. Attitude problems aren't a good thing.

I'd go with the above. Ranger with Shola will at least give us a bit of pace and guile - Nolan is far too static (and easily picked up) when he plays off the front man. Also Barton back to MR in place of the inadequate Routledge. Just wish we had an option (bar Shane Ferguson) to replace Jonas - there is a man who knows his place is safe come what may.

Good news - pity we have to wait until Feb to see him again though. Guess it means that he is progressing and expected to make a full recovery.

As much as we need extra quality coming in, it's not gonna happen lads. Ashley's intent has always been to keep us up on the cheap. Nothing has changed in that respect. Even if we go down, Ashley won't lose because he'll still get parachute payments and has then got an 'excuse' to sell Carroll. Dark days ahead.
