Doubtlessly will get shot down for saying this - but I genuinely feel it's that bad. I don't really remember when we went down in 78 (was only 5 at the time) Am old enough to remember 88/89 which was a desperate season when we went down without a whimper in the end. However, 2009/09 really concerns me. In 88/89, we had very few quality players. We started badly and never really got away from the wrong end of the table. We had a mini-revival just before Easter 89. but a 3-1 defeat at home to Sheff Wednesday put paid to that. However this time around - something is very wrong within the football club. We all know that there's problems at the top - from the owner to the manager. However, surely the players have to start taking some responsibility too? Am I right in thinking that we have the 5th highest wage bill in the PL, with a squad (as small and unbalanced as it is) which has plenty of players who have been capped at full level by their countries. And yet, look where we find ourselves. Value for money? I think not. The club has been a soft touch for years now when it comes to players. They come in, suck on the tit of the cash cow in return for minimal effort. When things go bad - they drop like flies through injuries and some start wanting to leave the club without having the balls to put in a transfer request (Given excluded from that) That's down to greed so as not to lose out on loyalty payments. Regardless of what happens this season - a new broom has to go through the club in the summer. Funny how we keep on saying that year in/year out and it never happens. How many of the current squad to you believe genuinely give a flying one about our present plight. A handful at most, IMO. What happens on the pitch doesn't lie.

Yup - again, I can't see us getting anything on Sunday either. There's very little heart and fight within the squad, the board aren't prepared to invest and relegation now looks a nailed on possibility unless a miracle happens. Could get messy in the City Centre if we lose, after the game. Glad I'm not going.

Another rotten night, despite an improved 2nd half performance. Lets face it - after the first half, we couldn't get any worse. Owen injured, Barton injured and Bassong probably knackered as well. Are you watching Mike? How about you pull your finger out of your fat f**king arse and get some bodies in. 28 days and one free-transfer signing in? Taking the **** out of those who pay good money to watch this garbage.

Very much going to be damage limitation tonight. I fear another performance like the 2nd half at Blackburn. -
If we lose this (and there is every chance we can) it could be as damaging to the club as the playoff defeat in 1990, if not more so. If the players do as they did against Blackburn last weekend, and show no heart or fight - then we are f**ked.

Shows that things musn't have been good under Shepherd/Hall. The club must have been hemmoraging money. What worries me though that the club seems to be heading back to the days of McKeag, where the primary concern is to balance the books and make a profit. Are the likes of Chelsea/Man Unitd/Arsenal and Liverpool ran like that? It's all well and good if the club stays up - but the best we can hope for without taking a bit of a risk is mid-table football for the forseeable future. God help us if we go down. -
Interesting that he blames KK - but they weren't his players either (perhaps bar Guthrie) The real protagonist here, Wise remains free from criticism. He should carry the can.

GM - I think it goes back to the latter day of SBR's reign. The antics of Dyer (when he refused to play RW and throwing the captains armband) were a turning point for me. Since then we've seen players come and go when it's clear all they have come for is the cash. In saying that - the owner has to take responsibility too. If the rumours are true about them all being put of for sale at the end of last August, is it any wonder most of them are hacked off? Still got to be professional mind - they are paid well enough for it. And that includes our captain, who's lack of effort in recent games has been notable.....

The sad thing is that the full blooded support that I saw today at Blackburn, doesn't seem to do anything for the players. Many of them are beyond caring.
