  1. "The mood of the Geordies". Oh fuck, that's a cracker.
  2. But the actual point is that we apparently always try and keep our persuit of players under the press radar as much as we can. Maybe we are unsuccessful in this more often than not, but nevertheless, to say that having run out of transfer links reported in the papers is a major worry is a nonsense imho.
  3. He did. Whelan I'm sure was delighted to puff up his chest and say he had turned us down, but then it would also suit us to say, look we offered £12m, we tried our best. But we didn't say that, we denied it iirc. Pardew did say (thinking back it could have been on the radio) we tried to get players in at the last moment, but part of his answer was that there never was anything beyond an enquiry as to availibility in the case of N'Zogbia.
  4. Yeah. It's not like we bid £10m for him in the Jan transfer window to give people the idea we were interested in him like. Beats me where people get these ideas from. So what's your criticism there, that we bid for him? I thought you were annoyed because we didn't? If we were willing to pay £12m in January then why not pay £10m now? Well I guess people are angry for allowing themselves to be sucked in again and believing the club were actually serious about spending money on new top quality players. Maybe some are starting to think the £12m offer was just another stunt by the fkn idiots at this club, more cloak & dagger bullshit. FFS Skirge man, how is the £12m offer a stunt when we denied ever putting a bid in for him!?!?! What is the difference between a "feeler" and a bid like? Doing a ring round of clubs for prices of players we could pull in quickly I would say might be a 'feeler'. An actual bid would be, well, an actual bid.
  5. Pretty sure it was fairly soon after the trasnfer window ended. Quotes from Pards. /Will have a rummage if I get a minute.

  7. Yeah. It's not like we bid £10m for him in the Jan transfer window to give people the idea we were interested in him like. Beats me where people get these ideas from. So what's your criticism there, that we bid for him? I thought you were annoyed because we didn't? All pretty speculative anyway, considering the club actually said that we hadn't bid, just were putting feeleers out at that late stage to a number of players who could move quickly, including the Zog.
  8. Gonna try and see it now, didn't work this morning damnit, but someone mentioned that it's working now. That'd be me. Silky skills from Abeid in the vid. Promising.
  9. I'd have though that it'd finally clicked that nothing came from the club that we were ever even that strongly in for the bloke? But no, people are actually still complaining that the club has strung their fantasies of N'Zogbia along.
  10. Huge year ahead for him really. If he really is (as many say) going to be a top player then he needs to start showing glimpses this season. It's been mildly disappointing how little impact he's made in the last two years. I do accept however he spent a long time last season injured. To say the least, but as you say, the injuries must have played a massive part in that. Fingers crossed that he's over them now.
  11. Cracking little interview with him on NUTV today. I know we have a wealth of attacking midfielders, but really hope he gets some more games this year.
  12. Top vid. Good to see Kadar almost looking mobile.
  13. Even though there were rumours of a failed medical, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that we paid Marveuax an inflated salary compared to Liverpools offer, happy to pay the costs of a player over the course of a contract if we can keep the initial outlay down. I'd hoped we were moving away from it, but we have always had to pay a little extra due to fashion and location even when we had the caliber of manager in Robson and were challenging for Europe.
  14. ok, can i just come out and say that's JULY and now we're stepping up our striker search all these mopes thinking we're gonna spend much of the 35m better start rethinking...we got 3 players for 5m, mike's wet dream tbh, why spend the rest For. Fuck's. Sake. ok ian, pm me, we'll see where we are in september we've been here before man, JULY and we're "stepping up" our striker search the 'getting value for money' argument only goes so far and lasts so long before it's a stringalong again You appear to be getting hung up on a journalists headine that bears no relation to any of the quotes. We had offers in on our first choice strikers well before the window opened. That was when we 'stepped up'.
  15. I understand that but what use is Modric to Spurs if he doesn't want to play for the club? Surely the best option would just to be to get the best possible deal rather than feed him the 'we will let you watch the season from the bench or stands'. Phil Jones signed a 5 year deal last summer and a 1 year extension in January yet why should Blackburn hold him back from Man Utd when that's where the player wants to go. Don't really want players that don't want to play for your club. should the player think of that when signing his long term contract. maybe he should say "just make it a 2 year deal, if i'm good i can f*** off, if i turn out to be cack you don't end up paying me for 3 years of turd" truth is the players want it both ways and it would be nice for some club to have the bottle and bank balance to say "no, you agreed to that contract, if you don't like it you can play in the reserves till your deal is up" And how would that help anyone? Certainly not the club who have effectively lost the player and any future financial benifits, yet are still shelling out wages. It seems to me, the only reason you give a player a long term contract is to give yourself a chance of recouping a greater amount from the transfer if that player ever opts to leave. None of it is about loyaly, from either side.
  16. Showing a distinct lack of ambition there Ian. Well actually I did think that as I posted it, I guess if the club really do think we will finish roundabout a Europa league spot then he is someone we should be upgrading. It just doesn't seem like we have that many options for the right. Options? Barton, Gosling, Jonas, Kazenga Lua Lua, Sammy Ameobi, Marvaux, Ben Arfa, some of the other youngsters, and if we can't get shot, Raylor can all do a job there surely? Seems completely pointless to me keeping Routledge as well if we feel he's had his chance and will never amount to much.

I think I'm resigned to just getting shot now and putting in a decent sell on clause. As long as he's on our books we're going to have to deal with whatever shit he get's into, and it's rare for a striker to end up a great if he's quite as dumb as a box of rocks as this lad.

  19. Thank you both. Let's get this fucker back on track. Have this twitter bollocks - Apparently we've been sold!!! DazWilliams Darren Williams OBE @nufcfans a very reliable source tells me there is a going to be BIG news at a press conf before a sporting event on 15th July #NUFC v #DFC? I asked scale of excitement of news 1-10..answer was 9.9, make ur own mind up!
  20. Same with there user-names etc. You not find a single SAFC related username on this site (I havn't seen any anyway). FTM is quite common with them. Can you lads stop bumping a twitter/bollocks thread with you SAFC obsessions, cheers.
