The fact is if a player is good enough he'll be playing at the minute and his club won't want to sell that where I get this idea that there is nobody who will improve the squad. It's a whole different story in the summer but at the minute if you want an unproven talent who might come good you have to pay £10m+ for them, in the summer you will get a great experienced player for the same price and the unproven talent for probably half the price. I absolutely agree. If Roeder and Shepherd had followed that sage advice last summer we wouldn't be in this bind now would we. However, they didn't, and your faith that they will suddenly wheel and deal in exemplary fashion the next time around, and the idea that because of that we can and should wait untill the next opening, seems utter madness to me.

Yeah I guy who has failed in Europe once already. Christ people seem to want us to just sign for the sake of signing, not sure why. No, people want signings because we are desperately in need of bodies, and it is up to Glenn and his master to find the right players and bring them in. That is their job. You can keep harping on about nobody being out there, but seriously, the idea that there is absolutely nobody out there that can improve the squad is just mind blowingly ridiculous. Championship players who have no experience are being touted for £10m and I'm yet to hear of a really big defender who is available, unless you have ? Not having access to the NUFC fax machine or any agents numbers readily at hand, I wouldn't a clue. Nevertheless, I'll repeat it, your idea that there is absolutely nobody out there that can improve the squad is just mind numbingly ridiculous. After a desperate summer they have had plenty of time to draw their plans together and look a little less shambolic this time around. But sadly (and I really hope it is all an act) Glenn still seems to be fumbling around phoning around for opinions on players at this late stage, and aparently having trouble getting anywhere.

Me too. Just a tad.

What utter bollocks imho.

"I am aware of this player but he is not a player I am trying to sign." That's nice dear. Fucks sake, even Boro have managed to sign somebody.

Everyone on the last page or so, yes.

Ledge. One stop down the line from Keegan. As a man, one stop ahead. -

Fellow countryman, it seems you got the names wrong. I guess you meant "NE5, man, you DO have a sense of humour, right?" Fixed it for you both.

GREAT examples there (especially Sibi considering he had only an hour to phone around and gage opinion on what the fella was like). Keeps his cards close to his chest ffs.

Football related, and no different to the Savage thread in relevance to us.
-
Me to be honest. Let the rumour loose not 2 hours ago.

Hmmm, also, why do we need to look at him first before deciding on a loan??? Jebus! How long did it take to offer Sibierski a premanent deal, or to ask Fergie for Rossi?? Had we been scouting them all summer??? MJ We're putting off paying for anyone because we're skint. We have 'significant' transfer funds.

Ah, question answered - "So what we will do on Saturday morning is to play a full 11-against-11 game with our Academy side and give Titus 60 or 70 minutes."
-
Nah, criteria specifies that he must have Premiership experience. Silvestre anyone?
-
More to the point, I thought everyone was banging on about tightarse demanding to play in this game?
-
FFS: No need for any new left backs now then, eh Glenn. GSG: No boss.

"The chairman is trusting me with a significant amount of money and I don't want to bring in players who will lose value like a driver driving a car off the forecourt." Mr G Roeder Jan 21 2007 Although why he felt the need to anounce this and potentially reduce our bargaining position, gawd only knows.

January, the lack of transfer activity, and the current team...

Can we knock this on the head a little. "The chairman is trusting me with a significant amount of money and I don't want to bring in players who will lose value like a driver driving a car off the forecourt." Mr G Roeder Jan 21 2007 Yes the club has debt, and our money problems should not be ignored, but in this case it doesn't strike me that we have no money to spend, simply that Glenn is being somewhat cautious. unprofesional being the word of course Actually your post was probably spot on. I just felt the need to get that quote in somewhere. -

Or "Young in line for Toon bow"... http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~968917,00.html I think all these stories are more about shoe horning in that advert for remaining Villa tickets though tbh.

Still time for a late bid. Not that that's likely like.
