  1. Owen eyes England return United striker determined to play a part for England again By Razwan Mirza Last updated: 1st July 2010 Owen: Wants England recall Manchester United striker Michael Owen has reiterated his desire to play for the national side again and is ready to answer Fabio Capello's call if the England manager should decide to offer him a return to the fold. The 30-year-old's only appearance under Capello came in the second half of England's 1-0 friendly defeat in France back in March 2008. Owen's chances of a World Cup call-up evaporated after the striker was ruled out for the rest of the Premier League campaign for the Red Devils in March of this year after sustaining a hamstring injury during the League Cup final victory against Aston Villa. Owen admits that it was frustrating to watch England implode at the tournament and insists he is still available for selection if the Italian decides he needs him. "I went to the last three World Cups and a couple of European Championships so it's been really different this time," he said. "It was frustrating for me and for everyone. There were a lot of questions that came out of the tournament. "I obviously missed the tournament through injury which isn't like me. Whether I would've been picked is another matter, but I believe I would have been. I missed it because I wasn't available but I've definitely not retired from international football." Owen also backs his United team-mate Wayne Rooney following the striker's dismal form in South Africa as the 24-year-old went the tournament without a goal to his name despite being tipped to take the competition by storm. Rooney has not scored a goal for the Three Lions in more than nine months and he also struggled to find his form for Sir Alex Ferguson's side at the end of last season due to a niggling ankle injury. Owen, however, is confident that the former Everton forward can get back to his best once he returns from the summer break. "People talk about Wayne after the World Cup because he is Wayne, but there were other players who didn't perform at the World Cup too," said Owen. "People will inevitably focus on Wayne though. He wasn't at the top of his game, for whatever reason - whether it was tiredness or because the rest of the team around him wasn't playing well. "He wasn't at his best but we all know he's a world-class player. After a few weeks off he will be back and scoring again."
  2. It was him or Owen, and tbh, I didn't have a fuking clue who he was.
  3. You think someone designed this?
  4. Why it needs the black box around it I do not know. Could have went back to the gold NR logo which stood out and looked classy imo. This: http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/javaImages/6f/ae/0,,10341~6401647,00.jpg
  5. No surprise, a captaincy power struggle caused by the media sticking their noses in and getting Terry sacked. Blame the players, blame the lack of coaches, blame Capello, but if that Terry story didn't leak and wasn't made such a meal out of we could still be there now.
  6. I used to like him. not sure if I'll end up hating him or liking Liverpool more, I hope its not the latter.
  7. When people have gotten over the hideousness of the Northern Rock badge, the iron on badges, the Puma logo above your groin, take a look at the socks, who designed them? 80's retro man? This is a joke, a horrible joke of a strip.

    Ashley Cole

There are plenty of people who are good at what they do, not as "outstanding" as THEY believe, and are complete petty-minded self-obsessed ars*holes. Cole is one such. Personally disagree about Gerrard, as I thought there was no shortage of effort - just didn't come off for him, but didn't moan and took responsibility unlike some. Rooney's got MORE criticism than Cole I'd say. A LOT more. He's just kept his mouth shut, and not let what passes for a mind wander off, like Cole. Like lashing out at the fans for daring to boo him? Yeah that's keeping his mouth shut over criticism.

  10. He's a good player but sadly can barely string 2 games together. Only 16 apps last season for Sunderland and 8 the season before with Lyon. An absolute crock. Shame he has looked very handy for Ghana I thought the younger Jonathan (Mensah) looked better.
  11. Sky news have it as breaking news. (not sports)
  12. Dust off the 360 and play some games.
  13. Stupid opinion tbh. (if you are serious) I'd still rather go Newcastle over England even it if its just the League Cup, it would get such a massive monkey off our back, plus Newcastle is far more personal than England to me, everyone's an England fan twice every four years which has its good and bad points, but I'm a Newcastle fan well above England, always have and always will be.
  14. ....injuries and bleeding to CRonaldo
  15. I've got Paraguay in my sweeps so wanted them to progress but feel sorry for Japan, they've been really good throughout and should be proud of their performances. I know people will wank over Honda and some of their forwards but i've liked the die hard spirit of Tulio at the back and would like to see him in the Premiership. No idea of his age, looks around 30, one good move in him?
  16. Hodgson should stay in a job where he is appreciated, Liverpool and or the England job are too big for him, it will turn sour quite quickly. So fingers crossed he takes the Liverpool job.
  17. Rooney looked overweight. His arse was massive.

    Jonas Gutierrez

good to hear Oh noes he's gonna leave us on a free like little Micky!!11!
  19. We need to seriously think about having foreign player limits at the clubs and regulate how many must be on the pitch at the same time, you know what I mean. 5 English players in the starting line up or only 8 foreign based players in the squad. We also need some ringers in like Germany.
