  1. This. The league's are over anyways so it's unlikely that injuries would happen. Makes for good competition, no one is safe and to be there as back-up and not first choice if an injury happens in camp could effect morale of that player. Gives a chance for fringe players to get in the spirit and build their hopes up, of course they'll be gutted if they miss the cut, but still until then you've got a fully focused player training his heart out to impress before a WC.
  2. Parker lol. He's done well over the past couple of months, looked like a good prem player, but England squad? Not a chance.
  3. I hope its the last thing they play before every England game starts, would fire up the pub no end. I think its great, but then again I'm far too excited for this WC.
  4. I fully expect him to grow a Hitler moustache and goose-step into any TV interviews. He'll probably just rehash his Dutch accent by making it a bit more aggressive; 'for sure Zees iz a football clube!'
  5. Scott Parker. (well for a few games any road)
  6. £20m a year in shirt sponsorship is mental. They got a great deal there.
  7. It's already been confirmed that we're seeded for the qualifiers. So a safe passage then? How come you are seeded? Is it down to the strength of the league rather than your euro record?
  8. If he does go (which he won't) Lee Clark would be ideal for us. Young manager who won't say no and has put together a young vibrant squad at Huddersfield on a shoe string budget, in fact there are several i'd take from him and have in our squad now.
  9. End of the day it could all be for nothing if they fall at the final hurdle like Everton did a few years back. I doubt they will be highly seeded, they could end up with a 3rd or 4th place Italian or Spanish team and they are knackered. Are we still the last team outside the 'big 4' that has played CL group stages?

I find that approach sexy as fuk right now.
  11. We need to get the high earners off the wage bill, the lower the wages the more money we will generate. When you consider (reported) Smith, Barton, Colo and Jonas cost the club around £13m a year, they've got to be the first to go. The first two we wouldn't miss, Colo's wages are too out of touch with what the club is trying to do and Jonas will hopefully have a gerat WC and fetch us a decent fee. If Taylor doesn't sign up then we've got to get rid before the start of the season, losing him for nothing would be a massive blow, Carrol is the other sellable asset but losing both would be too much to take.
  12. To be fair, forgetting the statement, he has already got a few hundred million invested in the club. According to him, though i believe nothing he says. His figures and debts do not add up to the scale he keeps coming out with, we'd have wound up like Portsmouth by now if so. IF were running close to £40-50m loss a year the it would have been in his best interest to give the club away rather than cover it and keep covering it.
  13. This was going to be my first season as a season ticket holder, got the cash on standby, but if Ashley isn't going to put money in to the club, neither am I. (Saying that i've been saving for a bit and was hugely exicted at the prospect of being there for every game - so its 50-50 in reality) Where do you sit Crumpy? PS is it you who does the driving lessons?
  14. How many times have they been to Wembley now? Ashley bought the wrong club.

Considering the rest of the statement, as in how precise and going over things several times, this being left open to interpretation was intentional imo, god knows why. keep prices low perhaps? very odd the key line is ambiguous Is the only thing we can take from this, that were going to look for bargains and scour the free transfer market while at the same time offload some expensive crap and bring in cheaper replacements. A good idea all round but I think we need investment to be able to move players around and build up a squad. What I really don't get is why they thought they needed to release a statement and what were they trying to achieve? It seems to me that they wanted to clear something up, what that was was lost on me and has just got everyone asking questions were they were none before. Crackers.

Why even bother coming out with this at this stage of the season? None of this makes any sense, well it does, its Ashley were talking about. Sounds like they've got major beef with the media as well all this were not commenting on anything to you lot shite. If they think they can stay up with this squad then they are seriously mistaken. £15m was a miser amount to stay in the league, but nothing at all bar player sales is fuking ridiculous. Just as you think its safe to enjoy being a toon fan again...bang, fuk you goodnight, see you in the championship. Sunderland fans must be wetting themselves at this news, i know I would on the flipside.
  19. You absolute fucking pillock. Have you ever been involved with someone who has mental health problems? Do you have ANY idea of people who have mental health problems go through? Obviously not from your immature replies. I'm sure some of his actions are self inflicted, but he's surrounded by people or attracts people who only seem too happy to help him on his way to oblivion. I've bumped into him a couple of times, on both good and bad days, so I've seen both sides to him. He's a great bloke, but he needs serious long term help if he's going to get through the next 10 years or so. I'm interested in your views on how people with serious mental health problems should be treated, especially when they live their lives being chased around by the media. Just a note to other people - if you read his book, you'll see that the mental health problems came way before the alcoholism You haven't got a clue the life I've lived and what I've dealt with; I know more about it than you can even begin to comprehend you little prick. I hope to god he mows down someone you care about and kills them in his drunken states, let's here your fuking arsewipe opinion on the matter then. But it's Gazza he played football really well and has had it so tough in the spotlight, its not his fault and he deserves 1,000 chances no matter what he does. You fuking mug. The drunken dickhead saw someone killed in a car accident, you'd think he'd not drink and drive after knowing the effects.
  20. I can see why a drink driver would have sympathy with this pathetic individual. Anyway, arrested again. Gazza Arrested For Second Time In Two Days 8:58am UK, Tuesday February 09, 2010 Neal Walker, Sky News Online Sky sources say former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne has been arrested for public order offences, his second arrest in two days. Durham Police said officers were called to the Blackwell Grange Hotel in Darlington at 8.10pm last night following a report of an ongoing incident. Two males were arrested and are in custody at Darlington police station. Former Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur star Gascoigne was arrested on Sunday evening on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a vehicle. He was taken into custody after police were called to a disturbance at a takeaway in Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire. The 42-year-old, who has faced a long battle with alcoholism and depression, and another man were questioned by officers yesterday morning before being released on bail pending further inquiries. Gascoigne, who was sectioned three times under the Mental Health Act in 2008, has described how, when he hit rock bottom, he was taking cocaine and drinking a litre of gin a day, which left him delusional and afraid to leave his room. The former England hero, who played at Newcastle, Spurs, Lazio, Rangers, Middlesbrough and in China, went public about his continuing battle with addiction in March last year. But in December, he was handed a fixed penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly after being arrested in Newcastle.
  21. Only thing i can think of is that England want to cap him before Scotland do.
  22. He's a disgrace to his him, his family, his friends and to us right now since he's part of the coaching staff. He's a danger and a menace to himself and now to others. Drink drivers are the scum of the earth, alcoholic wife beaters just as bad, he's both! He had his last chance when Beardsley offered him a lifeline, and he's blown it twice that the public know of, he's probably been getting twatted every day and night, nice role model to our kids he's is/was coaching.
  23. Not prison, a fine and maybe some community service. I dunno, a judge wouldn't make an example of a footballer like Gerrard, but someone lower down the food chain with less impact and they could feel it's their duty to tear the lad a new one. I'm sure a lot of people out there would love to see him go down just because he's a footballer, there's even a large % of our own fans who want to see it happen.
