English + £4m Age & potential + £4m Breaking into the NT + £2m Talent = £7m only the talent and age/potential bits really matter. 17mill for him is just a little bit short of being as stupid as darren bents price. Agreed but that's the way the cookie crumbles with English transfers. £11m would be about right, but BB want £15m+ and will probably get it.

Someone just buy him FFS!!!

Be nice to see him take a pay cut and extend his contract. He must know even after a pay cut he's never going to get this kind of money off anyone else and his days at a top 4 are numbered. He could move to a better 2nd tier club than ourselves but no one would be willing to pay good money for him, and i doubt NUFC would let him go on the cheap. If were looking at £7-9m for Milner then were going to be looking £10m+ for Owen even in his last year, well considering £3.5m for Ameobi in his last year, it doesn't seem to ridiculous to ask for that. Owen, Taylor & hopefully Martins signed up, finally sort out Emre & Ameobi's transfers and actively seek to sell Smith & Duff while looking to offload Viduka if possible, then the slate is as clean as were going to get to start again and rebuild the squad. Still around 5 more bits of deadwood will still be floating around the squad, but that's asking mega change to rid and replace, if the club manage it i'd be ecstatic...but this will do for now as long as we get some bliddy bids in finally.

Just having a joke at the slackers expense.

He'll think it's warm as fuck here tbh. Tell him to bring his sun tan lotion.

I've just realised you are not who i thought you were. I always thought you were the 'Swissmag' who used to post mental rumours, just checked and he was called 'Swissmagpie' Sorry if i've ever come across as dismissive of you. Anyone remember this: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=43846.0 ?

Thank god were not in Europe i think he'd quit on us the amount of work he'd have to do.

Obviously not coping with jet lag, needs a few days to recover from that.

Creating players try creating and more often fail, if they don't then they really are amazing players like Scholes etc...and is why defenders will also have high passing as they pass between themselves and do not take risks. Truly truly pointless stats those, the fact you don't know what they consider and what they don't really does take the biscuit when presenting them to criticise a player, at least do it properly. OK, why not compare him to other Premier League right wingers at teams we want to be challenging: Bentley 76% Osman 76% Pienaar 78.5% Ireland 74% Utaka 79% Lennon 81% Milner 66% Our other midfielders are comparable to their equivalent players at these clubs, but Milner drops well short of both his team mates and his rivals. Because these stats mean fuk all, do i have to say it again like? And since we played boot it up field hit and hope football it really does again mean fuk all.

Aye, saw that earlier; came across as a right dickhead. The best bit was the Portuguese bloke asking him if he didn't understand English. Aye I'd have asked him what its like to have the most smackable face in footballing history if i were the reporter.

You asked if he deserved a new contract and I said that he did, when his current one runs out, I didn't say we shouldn't negotiate now though. But that means it hasn't ran out, strange contradiction no?

It's borderline dangerous, but acceptable if it comes off. It is borderline dangerous, but on the other hand it means people have to prove their worth. If you only start to think about the situation with 12 months left (which is what I believe Wenger did with Flamini) then you might be in trouble. But that's what we've done, and the deal isn't signed yet. We know he will though, all he wants to do is stay and be the best he can be for the club, had he been an imported teen with an unloyal personality (ie Zoggy and why he was sharply offered a new deal) i reckon we all would be bricking losing out on Taylor's transfer fee next summer. Hasn't there been talk about Taylor as regards his contract for ages? I reckon we've been negotiating a while. 1 Contract offer in 2007, around November i think it was, then nothing since.

Looks like we should keep Duff then.

And Taylor's pass rate is higher than all the 1st team defenders we've got bar Cacapa, Taylor must be a closet Deco eh? Statistics can prove anything.

He's hardly improved since he played his first game when Bobby was here, he had a lot of promise for a young lad but I'm not sure that he's really got his game together, some of that can be because of who he had to play with but that's an easy excuse. Yes he can have good games but he has as many poor games as good ones. How much Owen and Barton get paid has nothing to do with how much Taylor should be paid, and they don't get it for being injured or going to prison. Does he deserve a new contract? Yes, when his old one runs out. His contract was running out unless you'd wait until 2009 till you offer him a new contract? Well done, and you knock FS for being stupid. Most clubs would have had this sorted a year ago, or preferably sorted and look what happens when you dont; Flamini, bet Wenger is kicking himself he didn't make more of an attempt to sign him up last summer or even better before then. All of a sudden he's one of Wenger's best players and leaves for free, and we laugh at Wenger for it. Massive massive mistake from him, very unlike him but he thought Diarra was better and Flamini was expendable. But let Taylor's contract run to the end and then offer him a new one, no way will he be pissed off for leaving it so late and be tempted to leave for fuk all.
-
He would have had a better deal if he'd improved, he looked a great prospect when he first got into the team and has hardly moved forwards as a player since. He has improved, and he's worth a lot more to the team than most of the players we've been paying since he's been here. Maybe he should get himself thrown in jail if he wants £60kpw eh? Or miss two full seasons with injury for £120kpw, or just be selected for national duty only for £60kpw again. No wonder he's pissed off. So does he not deserve a new contract then?
-
Maybe they were going to make him work for his new deal and not treat him like a spoilt kid "I want a new contract!" "Here you go son" Sure. The lad gets less than £10kpw (a contract signed in his debut season) puts his heart and soul into the club, and his contract is running out. How dare he ask for an improved deal.
