Looks like all parties knew it was coming. Little face saving whinge from Bein immediately after it was announced by ksa, then nothing for days.
-
Nobody gave a shit as Rafa had left and takeover had fizzled out. Back in jan/Feb time a lot questioned the link then.

Downgrade on what? We don't have a left back in the club, unless you count Ritchie and Dummett who are not left backs. The amount of money that has been circulating around a permanent deal is ridiculous though. What’s Dummett then if not a left back? Left-footed centre back utilised on the left side because Mike Ashley didn't want to spend money. He is solid in the back, but offers nothing of the required for a position of a modern left back. He's not a centre back, not be a long stretch. He's a defensive left back, but still a left back.

PL just giving everyone else a head start. Well if rumours are true then it'll be us that sparks the transfer market in to life. Bet there are a few teams praying for our newly found money.

This has already happened with Asian football rights. Bein was found guilty of selling unsuitable packages, breaking the contract and lost the rights to those regions, inc KSA. Same is happening with PL. They only lost the rights in KSA. Same deal applied everywhere else, but they didn't come to a new deal. https://www.arabianbusiness.com/media/429927-asian-football-confederation-pitches-broadcast-rights-for-the-uae They broadcast directly from Asia now as agreed by their leagues, cut out the middle man (bein)

2021. Also WTO report recognised the countries were effectively at war and normal rules did not apply. This now give the PL backing to do the same and split the region. It seems many other countries want to follow suit, seems BeIn and Qatar have pissed a lot of people off over the years.
-
I’m 90% certain keys knew of all this and is right with end of the week.
-
I think it’s a safe bet they didn’t consider regional structure when they included Qatar and Saudi in same rights package to begin with. I don’t believe that at all. Countries split up and merge occasionally as well as get into diplomatic or actual war. There must be articles in such a contract that deal with such potential events. The WTO report recognised Saudi was effectively at war with Qatar therefore KSA had every right to not recognise their legal claims. If WTO agree this, the the PL should also see that these 2 countries are at war and they should split the rights to stop any further clashes.

1 full season left, bidding will start soon.

I think you see through the clouds of misinformation and smoke. Tbh, BeIN have done themselves no favours throughout this. Threats, strops, paid journos warring with fans and blackouts of fixtures, all the while PIF (and KSA) have reacted professionally.

Bein will be aware, they are just playing games. If they were aware it would be incredibly easy for the PL/Saudi to prove it and tell everyone they're lying I dont think its got to that stage of who said what yet, the news has just broken, and all we've had from a bein spokesperson (via a dodgy reporter) is that they didnt know about it. Now in my company when our top brass knock out a deal the spokesperson doesn't find out until the general press release is ready. They wouldn't have a clue what has been agreed at that level. KSA have been a little naughty here, in an attempt to embarrass Bein (they only announce things when its 100%), but they've done this on the solid knowledge it doesn't impact the takeover (IMO) Be amazed if they’ve done this without having everything in order. Reckon the PL will have okay’d it. They've jumped through hoops (for them at least) to get this through, they aren't going to reach the finish line and set it alight. Madness to assume this. I suppose we're used to Ashley and his antics, and probably just expect it.
-
Exactly. KSA want their region only. If they don't get it expect to bid for the entire region and Bein goes bye bye.

No. I’m a grumpy, cynical and mostly miserable bastard who’d give victor meldrew a run for his money, but in the last year I’m seeing things more positively. I’m possibly wrong, but don’t think I am. Whatever is going on it’s not a rejection and Saudi hoeing their toys out the pram, I’m 100% that isn’t the case here. I do believe they’ll break away and the PL should have stepped in and suggested this a long time ago.

Either be paid for something they currently get nothing for, or risk losing all rights and close down from next year.
