    Yohan Cabaye retires

Form isn't as good as it was before getting called "The Dreamboat" in my opinion.
  2. Wouldn't producing like 15/20 small shows cost more than producing one big show? Having moved around the country, I know that there are much less regions than that, probably about 10. Still need the same number of commentators, cameras for each match. No studio, get the local BBC sport presenter to do some basic introductions live from one of the regional stadiums, or from the local new desk, at the same time as doing his normal BBC job. If that does cost slightly more, the programme is more appealing, and lowers that £ per viewer value that is more influential than actual cost.
  3. They should do what ITV used to do with a weekly regional show on a Sunday, then put all regional shows on Iplayer for those fans not in region.
  4. Villa tried to fine him and Dunne over £200,000 last season for his behaviour but the PFA wouldn't sanction the figure as it is above the permitted level.

    LOL at Lolro

Mentions of Andy Carroll and Enrique, and how Enrique has improved at Liverpool probably. I'd say 75% will be about Liverpool.
  6. Don't see how that's relevant but aye, I can't see this one being legit. Because he is a bad apple, doesn't take care of himself, causes problems in the dressing room, is disliked by team mates. There are a lot of things wrong with him. He is the sort of player that should be avoided at all costs, a player the old pre-relegation Newcastle would have signed.
  7. Huge history of drink problems and one of those blamed for the dressing room split and bullying at Villa last year. No thanks.

    Ryan Taylor

I don't see any of that, first and foremost I want our defenders to defend, if they give us something in addition then that's a bonus. A huge strength of our team is that we attack and defend as a team. Defensively, organisation is key, and of what I have seen, a Perchless team can defend. Conversely, is Taylor worse than Griffin or O'Brien? However offensively we are pretty one dimensional at the moment, i.e. Ba (although to be fair there are many dimensions to his play). Therefore having defenders such as Coloccini and Taylor who both make a huge offensive contribution is invaluable.

I bet you're not saying that after the Liverpool game. He played well against one of the worst teams in the division today. As for his free kicks, we've got two other players who are at least as good as he is at taking free kicks. I can't believe anybody would think he's undroppable and we should fit him in on the right if he's up against somebody. Like Best, he’s good enough as back up. It is the psychological effect of having him in the team, although Ba and Cabaye are capable of scoring free kicks, it is Taylor with the reputation for it. Players and managers are scared of their team giving away free kicks. This plays into the hands of Ba, Ben Arfa, Best, Jonas and others.

If we played someone else against the top teams they'd probably find another way to beat us. Plus he presents the opportunity to get something when we are up against it. Ideally we'd have someone else in midfield or upfront who can match Taylor's specific attacking threat but we don't.

    Ryan Taylor

Undroppable in my opinion. Do not underestimate the fear he creates in opponents, and until we can find someone else offering a genuine quantifiable threat from free kicks and long shots he needs to start, preferably at left back where he has the least effect on the team. If there is a particularly tricky or pacy opponent, just switch him to the other side.
  13. 17 is Ashley's lucky number. Hopefully he will go gung Ho for his replacement.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Unless Ben Arfa did something. Face it, he has form, and has been benched by a variety of managers at various clubs.

Clearly refused to play on the wing at half time against Chelsea. The only way it can be explained.
  16. Frustrated, but only because of poor refereeing and Swansea parking the bus.
  17. Criticism of that tackle aside it is good to have him back. Must have been a great boost for team mates to see Colo, Tiote and Best all back.

    James Perch

A good Newcastle performance with James Perch on the pitch is when you hardly notice that James Perch is on the pitch.
  19. He's having a good game. Thirded, to be honest he does good stuff in every game, but has his poor moments, a bit like Shola really and I don't hate Shola. People just need to accept that he is very inconsistent.
  20. Gets up and down the pitch very well, passes the ball well, can properly attack the penalty area and win second balls on the edge well and has a good cross.
  21. So lucky to not have been sent of on the first half. Did a Smithesque two footed tackle from the side, slightly behind, totally out of control, totally missed the ball, and he was lucky that the Swansea player dodged the challenge.
  22. Played very well. Only negative is the finishing (but Swansea park the bus very well), and that Tiote is very lucky to be on the pitch.
