  1. I disagree. He has been very consistent this season. He doesn't go missing, people have to realize that just because he hasn't got a shot on goal or so he hasn't gone missing. His running and marking along with Tiote has helped us recover so much possession and his simple and accurate passing game has helped our team develop a bit of confidence. He is so confident on the ball and always makes the simplest of it all mixed with brilliance at time that it helps our team. It's so nice to finally have some ball passing instead of running and attacking from the wide or just lumping it to a striker. He's a class player and has been very impressive this season. The second half against Wolves is a really good example of him going missing. When he has a foothold on the game he is great, but for many reasons which are down to him settling in to the new league and club he has lost grip of the midfield battle at moments in games. Even though he contributes more than Nolan when he goes missing, he needs to be at the level he was at against Blackburn and Villa and not like the 6 out of 10 level he was at against wolves and qpr if we want a result on Sunday.
  2. Cabaye is the key. He has obvious quality but sometimes he has lacked the consistency, gone missing for a half, or simply been worn out by his own efforts. This is where he hasn't yet adapted to this league. He is going to need to be bang on the money, as this will mean that Spurs have to play well to beat us. In that situation, it might take a moment of brilliance to get a goal, and Cabaye could offer us something in that department too.
  3. Quotes from Pardew saying that there is going to be a lot of pace on one side of the pitch with Obertan and Bale there.
  4. He doesn't like playing at Newcastle though KD, we really got to him mentally, to the extent that when Sam Allardyce became manager, he went to him with a load of bizarre complaints about stuff like we were playing the "Alan Shearer Anthem" before every match.
  5. Nope, that's more in line with what Liverpool want. That would give the top clubs 38 games of big money, while someone like Wigan would only get big money when they played one of the top clubs. Their matches against Wolves, Swansea, etc. would garner a far lower rights fee. The league is worth more as a whole. While the Manchesters, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool may be the big draws, the league doesn't function without the other 15 clubs. Everyone understands this except those scummy bastards. I wish Hicks & Gillette had hung on for another year and really run that club into the ground. My bad on this one. Of course clubs will only get a game involving Man Utd twice, while Man Utd will get games involving Man Utd 38 times.
  6. Not biased, but the players who are still at the club can't be fully judged as they still have a the possibility to increase their standing (or reduce it!). You can only fully judge a transfer once the player has moved on (or at least, with the rate of player turnover we have, you can!) - in the example above, Edmundsson has come to the club, broken into our reserve team and his national side. He might have peaked, he might become a first team player. We don't know. Tozer left the club after failing to break through. We can categorically state that. Still biaised as even if you have these objective rules (although am not sure where Kuqi fits), the rules are still heavily biaised towards those who have been at the club more recently.
  7. Here is an idea. Clubs sell the TV rights, for home games getting a great deal and removing the control and money from the Premier League. The away team then receives 50% of the TV money. Theoretically more money for everyone that way, plus is fair and proper.
  8. I think the OP is heavily biased towards players that have stayed and biased against playeds who have left. Some examples: Demba Ba (Green) - Oba Martins (Yellow) -> If this was Martins first season he'd be green. he got found out eventually, but you can't say the same will happen to Ba. Edmundsson (Yellow) - Tozer (Red) -> I would say these two are both unproven. Not many of our development squad are going to make it, so over time, more of these will become red reducing the percentage if you use these players. Diatta (Red) - Kuqi (Yellow) -> Both players signed under similar circumstances and ended up not contributing. I can't see why Diatta is red and Kuqi isn't when they effective cost and contributed a similar amount.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I think we need to take our time with him and not get pissed off with Pardew or any player that is starting instead. It was obvious that he was going to come back from a very bad injury and not play in every match straight away. We need to do what is best for the team, and that is bedding him back in slowly and waiting for him to be ready. That is the best interests for everyone. Time to ignore the Ben Arfa fans as they are not interested in what is best for the club, their true interest is only in seeing Hatem playing for us much like those Kluivert fans. Not long before they start randomly attacking players that are playing instead, mimifrench was questioning the point of Jonas the other day.
  10. Quotes from Senegal manager saying he had a knee problem at start of season caused by a synthetic pitch. Didn't play for Senegal due to a hard pitch. Therefore we may miss him for a few games if winter is hard.
  11. Hart has to be a keeper as there is no good under 23 right now.
  12. this is a fiasco and it is all down to Spurs and their greed and the fact that they think they can do whatever they want. Well I tell you that this is Great Britain and you don't mess with Great Britain so Spurs can fuck off back to their poxy shithole stadium and watch how nice sensible Arsenal continue to increase their bank balance.
  13. It is now this season that player form will dictate who goes to the London 2012 Olympics as part of Team GB? Who goes? Which teams won't be happy? Can Shane Ferguson still switch to Ireland if he plays for Team GB? Who should the manager be? N.B. Rio Ferdinand is banned as things stand. For me: Joe Hart* Ben Amos ? Chris Smalling Kyle Walker Phil Jones Kieran Gibbs Neil Taylor Martin Kelly Danny Wilson Darren Fletcher* Jack Rodwell Jordan Henderson Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Tom Cleverley Shane Ferguson Barry Bannan Gareth Bale Wellbeck Carroll Bellamy* Walcott Hart Walker Smalling Jones Gibbs Walcott Cleverley Fletcher Bale Carroll Wellbeck Manager: Alan Pardew Fergie to be the most pissed off.
  14. South Africa have failed to qualify from their group because they thought they were through on goal difference. Despite playing for a draw then celebrating qualification, they then discovered they were out due to head to head results. They are now appealing to CAF even though the rules were plain for all to see.
  15. Hoilett would be an outstanding buy in my opinion.

    Shola Ameobi

Shola looks like he is reacting to his own Wikipedia page.
  17. Probably because of the averageness of all other keepers Hart excepted.
  18. Didn't a lot of those players come through the youth system together?
  19. Every international tournament with Lampard Gerrard and Terry playing will be slightly worse than the previous one.
  20. They play for Mn Utd though. I can see the benefit of having 6 or 7 of the 11 play for Man Utd because they are already playing together and performing well and therefore they won't need to gel or work on team spirit as you already have it. That isn't something that teams other than Spain would have. You mean the Spanish team that won the world cup with seven Barcelona players in the starting eleven? Quality and coherence are equally if not more important than spirit. Team spirit pushes you to the latter stages of tournaments, quality wins you them. True, but the current cancerous England team won't get past the group stages.
  21. The way you lot are going on it is like no full back with past career experience of playing on the wing has ever been put on the wing to man mark a dangerous player.

  23. From his own mouth he can play on the wing. Albeit this is a defensive tactic serving a certain purpose. It's a stupid "tactic." He's not a centre midfielder or a winger, he's a full back, which is where he should/would play. He is not a full back, he is a versatile wide player. It would be foolish to nail him down to a certain position at this stage of his career in my opinion.
