  1. So basically, Souness, Kinnear, Roeder and Allardyce have lost to Wigan away from home.

Has a Southampton youth coach with a grudge gone and pissed on his head?
  3. I quite agree. It's either Souness-like stubborness/ego tripping or completely absymal judgement. Is there any Southampton connection? I know Pardew wasn't there at the time, but is there now anyone in our backroom staff? Or maybe some chums at Southampton phoned him to warn him off.
  4. who the hell are you? and did you just register to post such bollocks? no need to be a twat? i thought i was make a pretty valid point. he did represent england as a striker did he not? if he HAD TO PLAY in the team, i would rather it was as striker than as midfielder Trouble is however that Smith has himself said that he can't play upfront any more as he can't turn around on his ankle.
  5. That, gentlemen, is the sound of the barrel being scraped. Our best option upfront is Alan fucking Smith. Fuck me. Steve Harper

    Dan Gosling

I suspect he's with the squad to do the usual pre-match and half time routine, get time to gel with the players see how we do our match days etc, but he won't have any involvement even if everyone else is injured.

    Strongest Eleven

If Gosling turns out to be better in the centre than Jonas on the left, then: Krul Simpson Williamson Coloccini Enrique Tiote Gosling Barton Nolan Ben Arfa Carroll
  8. Personality and mentality are different things. Personality is how you behave and can have an impact on mentality. Mentality is less easy to define, but can affect things like confidence, how willing players are to keep going, keep trying to beat their marker, keep going into tackles well, stay composed in front of goal, run and concentrate until the 90th minute. Barton for instance has personality flaws (but these days only occasionally) but has a strong mentality 95% of the time.
  9. Can see it happening though, so if it does I hope we all support him a\nd he finds his confidence as he does have ability.
  10. The reason we are doing better this season than two years ago with players who have less prestigious careers than the playes we had is down to mentality. Our team has the mentality both as individuals and as a team to do well this year, but we need to make sure that as we improve our squad, the players that come in believe they can do well and will not cause disharmony within the team. I remember people laughed when I expressed concern about signing Ben Arfa on the basis that I felt we needed playes that wouldn't upset the team, as it would be the personalities of the Nolans the Carrolls and the Bartons that would keep us up. Turns out I was right on the latter point. However I now reckon our team spirit is so strong that we can absorb the occasional Ben Arfa type player, make them feel wanted and loved, and therefore make them part of the team. I don't have worries that Bentley would cause disharmony within the team. However his mental weakness from what others describe is the opposite to Ben Arfa in that it seems to be about his own ability and is a confidence player. For that reason I don't think this is the right club for him. The strength of the team spirit couldn't give Perch the confidence to step up, and if the description of him is accurate playing well at st James Park after a blip in form may be beyond him. For that reason he'd be doing well for Blackburn or Bolton, but not for us, Spurs or West Ham.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

    Is this him: http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/3391/41362401653202464501142.jpg
  12. Whether Enrique is fit or not, Lennon would be starting right wing. It isn't the best example, as not much is likely to change (although if Redknapp was more confident about play down the right he might select a different centre forward) but in other situations or another player there might be benefits to the opposition knowing who we are going to line up with. Have no problems with players on Twitter but clubs need to be wise and lay down some ground rules. No team news/injury news would be very near the top of my list.
  13. Sort of stuff any player shouldn't be putting on there now. Were he to see it, Redknapp would have four hours to make any tactical adjustments he may see as useful.
  14. Who has Ashley actually sold? His bad decisions have been about managers or wage caps, not about keeping players that will keep us in the division.
  15. Don't panic, we have options: Steven Taylor Ryan Taylor Danny Simpson Jonas Kadar Ferguson Carroll (started career as LB) Perch
  16. Wilshere and Nasri. Still don't offer the consistency of Carroll though.
  17. PFA Young Player of the Year? The award is supposed to be biased towards the first half of the season isn't it? Bale is fantastic but has been hot and cold, Walcott hasn't been his best. Anyone I haven't considered?

    Hatem Ben Arfa

As we only seem to make one sub a match couldn't we just have Ben Arfa on the bench every game then bring him on with 10 seconds left each game?

Don't worry chaps, it is an internet site. Therefore consisting of someone who doesn't do any proper journalism, rather just sits on his computer making up any shit that he thinks will get 'hits.' Liverpool + Flair Player is a daily hits winner naturally, so Ben Arfa was bound to come eventually!
  20. I'm not expecting any major business. Clubs don't want to sell a first eleven player as they only have a month to replace them. Any player we get will either be playing in a worse division (i.e. Championship, Swiss League, maybe a non-leading French team), a different continent (different calendar or transfer rules), or not be getting a game for whoever they play for.
  21. We can score goals against the best teams so therefore a goal conceded due to a Krul mistake may make the difference between 11th and 12th come the end of the season and that isn't going to be a big deal. Would prefer Krul was out there getting games in a non life or death environment (i.e this season) and learning than playing Harper where we would not really be making any progress and we'd end up having to spend millions on a new keeper as if we aren't going to accept Krul is going to make mistakes then we aren't going to know if he can save the club money.
  22. All players have bad games but my concern is a general decline in performances going into the second half of the season. We need a decent young left back that will push and challenge him, and give him the occasional deserved break to ensure performances last throughout the season.
