    RIP sale thread.

For those of us on the mo-bile, what was/is it? It is just a dead 'coming soon' link someone has found. It's not on the homepage or the news page so I don't know where its come from, but I highly doubt there is anything.

Wasn't Ashley's last announcement to the Times, i.e. the 'I'm selling up' announcement that came completely out of the blue? Club's web site wasnt it ? That was the time he was selling up before!

It is as equally impeccable as yours. You are clutching at straws, I'm clutching at straws. as far as I can see, people are jumping on this 'we are not being sold' bandwagon for no apparent reason, so I'm just trying to offer a different perspective. It is like the administration on Friday story from a few weeks ago, although more people seem to have got into this one. Mine? What my previous comment that Ashley may wait until playing Palace away for our 4th game of the season to judge how things may pan out on the pitch Vs. your, he only makes announcements at weekends? Shut up man. Where did I say he only makes announcements at weekends? The point was that he is an impulsive guy, I can't see him going around telling club sources that there will be an announcement on Monday that he is staying. He will just come out and say what he wants to say when he makes his mind up, be it Saturday, Sunday or Monday. "Look, the two major announcements during the season by Mike Ashley have both been made at the weekend. If Ashley wants to take the club off the market, he will have already done so." Impeccable. You clearly have problems reading beyond the first question mark. I'll put the important bit in bold for your convenience. At no point have I said that he only does weekends. What I have said is that he makes his mind up and does things, and he doesn't fanny around waiting for a certain day to make a decision.

If something was agreed, he'd say. If it wasn't, he wouldn't know for sure it'd be sorted by the Monday. It's a fair point, but my instinct says that there are two clear differences. The first is that contracts may still need to get signed, perhaps one of the key investors can't get here until Monday from the States for example. The second is slightly silly, and a real definite straw clutch, but perhaps he just wanted one last game as Newcastle owner That is of course if anything is happenning on Monday at all

Im thinking this as well. Why would he wait a few days to tell us he is staying? If it is about the sale of the club, then surely the wait would indicate a sale more than anything? You's are reading WAY too much into it man We're not getting sold. And how are you so certain?

Look, the two major announcements during the season by Mike Ashley have both been made at the weekend. If Ashley wants to take the club off the market, he will have already done so. Either there isn't an announcement at all, or we are waiting to get a contract signed. Two possibilities are that its the club that will be sold, or it will be some sort of announcement that Ashley is going to have to pay for transfers, accompanied perhaps by Sol Campbell or someone like that.
  10. Our squad is not big enough for us to try and compete in this as well as going for promotion. We need to prioritise the league, promotion is much more important than reaching the final in this. On that note, why would you think that we can reach the final? Our team is no where near as good as the teams in the Premier League, and we're playing a lot more league games which will certainly cause fatigue should we play the same team in this cup as in the league. As I see it, a Championship title challenger is going to be confident, on a roll in terms of wins, ands wanting to prove its Premier League credentials. There are going to be some PL teams down at the bottom lacking in confidence, and other PL teams that wont have the motivation for this competition. This makes us a potential upset. Get some of these teams, plus some football league teams, and we have the basis of a good entertaining cup run.
  11. Doesn't really matter as Stephen Carr was the fastest at this club when he was here. Do you mean fattest? I'm pretty sure I remember a newspaper getting hold of a list from pre-season with Carr being the fastest in the Allardyce days.
  12. Doesn't really matter as Stephen Carr was the fastest at this club when he was here.
  13. I think we could get to the final if we get a good draw, so I'd want to play a full strength team though with Krul not Harper. I also think Huddersfield will be the most difficult game we've had since WBA start of the season, as they are on a high and scoring for fun.
  14. Whatever, it doesn't really mean much as Stephen Carr had the fastest straight line running speed at NUFC when he was here.
  15. So basically if it was the start of the match he could outpace Linford Christie, but probably couldn't at after 15 minutes due to being too tired.

I still think we are about to be sold. No reason at all for Ashley to wait until Monday to announce he is staying.
  17. Genuine question as I haven't really got much a clue on how well these teams have actually played, but who are going to be our rivals for the league title this season. Obviously there is Boro, but we beat them last season, and they've played worse teams to date. Cardiff look good. Good talented young players with a good manager, plus added Chopra goals. Sheffield United and West Brom will be around and about. But can any of these teams really challenge us? I think we'll walk this league if the boardroom don't cause fuckups amongst our current playing squad.
  18. 10 points. Even better. Smoggies have played three teams that will struggle this season which is why they are up here.
  19. Who were the teams we played that season?
  20. Four games against clubs who have played in the PL, 7 goals scored, one conceded, seven points. Very acceptable. We should win this league, if it wasn't for boardroom people who could potentially cock it all up.
  21. You probably all know this, but if you don't, we are top of the league as things stand.
  22. I was quite chilled out about Mainz winning against bayern until you made that post!

I'm going to predict that we agreed a deal today verbally, but certain lawyers or investors or whatever can't get here until Monday as they want to be at SJP in person to cross the i's and dot the t's. Why would Ashley wait until Monday to announce he is staying? He has nothing stopping him.
