  1. Injuries if anything will be worse, due to the physicality of the league and the fact there is more games. I'm not convinced, I haven't really noticed there being much more aggression thus far. More injuries for us always seem to be muscular things caused by running, and I can perhaps see these starting to go away this year if they aren't having to run their legs off for 90 minutes just trying to keep hold of a 0-0 draw.
  2. Will injuries be as bad in the Chamionship? Yes we had a bunch of permacrocks in the Premier League, but would the intensity of the Premier League be partly to blame? Would we see less injuries in the team now that we can control the tempo in our favour?
  3. I would play: Krul (yes I know blah blah) Simpson Taylor Colo Enrique Guthrie Smith Barton Nolan Lovenkrands Shola
  4. At least our defence has "touch wood" a really good injury record. Four clean sheets in 5 and many more to come so we can build on that, we now have four strikers, at least two of whom are top level, and we have too many top level central midfielders to know what to do with.
  5. September, October, November... almost fills us till January. May as well wait a month given the international break and the fact that our squad is fairly OK depth wise. You have to prove it's an emergency loan. You can't just go "It's an emergency" and they'll turn around and go "Oh ok, go ahead" We will hopefully have new ownership by then, and be able to cite Mike Ashley as the emergency.

  7. Sky have probably known for hours that he's signed and just held it back as a tease. NUFC just wont have bothered announcing it as it seems to be policy to announce it all in one go after the window closes. So they probably don't have a clue about anything else quite frankly.
  8. We always announce it all after the deadline anyway under this regime, presumably to concentrate on the work at hand.
  9. Guess again. I'd imagine none of our hopefuls will count as emergencies, so they'll have to happen today. How do you distinguish an "emergency loan" from a normal one? Is having Mike Ashley as owner not a big enough emergency?
  10. You think so ? I've never been too impressed by Collins, think he's average at best. He's strong, good in the air, and no slouch. Fairly composed too. Thank you for your kind words
  11. I think you are wrong there. In fact they think its a deadline for everything. There is going to be a massive d'oh in an hour when Hughton informs them that the deals they had nearly put through to make it look like they were actually doing something are still allowed to be completed.

    RIP sale thread.

About us lot, or just a general discussion for which he is a guest?
  13. Chillax guys its probably just one of those silly rumour sites that do a really annoying clockwatch on deadline day.

    Steve Harper

A manager took a risk on Harper once. A manager took a risk on Given once. A manager took a risk on Buffon once. A manager took a risk on Casillas once.

The truth however is that of the current players, only Taylor, Enrique, Barton, Guthrie and maybe Jonas and Colo are good enough to stay up in the PL. Its all very well playing a team promoted, but unless we take steps to create a larger retinue of players good enough for that division, promotion is pointless if we don't have the money to sustain it. Thus it is necessary for our long term ambitions to give some invaluable experience to the likes of Carroll, Ranger, Krul, Kadar, Vuckic. We have good enough players throughout the team for us to take those risks.

He definitely made his first genuine case for the first team yesterday with that save from Howard, but I can't help feeling that with the defence we've got, the midfield we've got and the strikeforce we've got that we'd be so much better off in the long run if we gave Krul much needed experience.

    Peter Løvenkrands

I think he can be. He did improve our team when he played up front last season and scored in 1 in 4 games, generally against the West Broms and the Boros. He offers the main improvement the team seeks right now, and we are already favourites to win this division. Keep him fit and Shola fit and our strikers will score more goals than any other strikeforce in the league, not to forget the goals we are getting from midfield. We'll have the best attack in the league and the best defence in the league making us the best team in the league if we keep players fit.
  18. In case you've missed it, Alex McLeish says we have won the battle to sign Lovenkrands. Danish Media says its a 3 year deal.

Isn't there a new kid/expected baby via a Scottish mum, hence a desire to stay close to Scotland?
  21. Has improved massively since he got given that advanced role. He just doesn't have the stamina for midfield, but in the advanced position he has the strength, passing and shooting to make things happen at this level.
  22. Yeah have to say, even though he wasn't at his own best today, he's a class above the rest in my opinion. Love the way he can just win the ball in the corner and he'll use his strength to just ride the ball up the pitch and out of danger.
  23. I'm assuming we consider Xisco as already gone? I'm gonna go for +2
