Apparently its the fee, not the wage. I'm not sure that we'd provide all the hospitality, then offer £6m less than the apparent January asking price. It is just one paper after all.

I feel like someone has just thrown a bucket of ice cold water over me following a night of alcohol induced fun.

I am refreshing newsnow all the time!

If this had all waited until the summer holidays, Kev and Jamie could have told us whether or not he was at the training ground.
-
Is this THE Modric thread now then?
-
My take of events judging from the various snippets of information that have no appeared in various different media outlets is that representatives have held serious talks, and all three of NUFC, Dinamo, and Modric are all happy with the move, and are all confident that an eventual agreement can be reached. It is just now a case of us getting that agreement signed and finalised before anyone else comes and gazumps us.

I think the question many have asked about why no-one has been waiting until after Euro2008 has been answered by Billic's comments that he doesn't want his players distracted by transfer speculation during the tournament. I think Billic would recommend England over other countries because he has played there, and because the more of his players playing in England the better for prepared his team will be for the WC Qualifiers.

Very good preview from the West ham perspective: http://www.kumb.com/article.php?id=2448

Should I mess this poll up by adding Modric, not resetting the poll, and then voting for him so that I can be right all along?

Unbeaten in six, same lineup every week, everyone is going to be satisfied regardless of results in next three games. Nothing else to talk about, unless you want another thread about the bored.

Gets funnier with every airing that one like James

Get a room you two!

Despite all the linkages, I think Modric is more of a genuine Spurs/NUFC target, and a more speculative target of the bigger clubs.

From the report on .co.uk 'That joy was short-lived and the Magpies were back on level terms within 60 seconds, Kazenga LuaLua firing a goal of the season contender with an unstoppable 25-yard strike beyond Adam Bartlett's despairing dive.' Adam Bartlett used to be a NUFC academy player didn't he? Who were they playing? Blyth Spartans. So in summary, our reserves are good enough to beat a Conference Northteam on penalties.

KaKa is confident. That is our first major setback. He's probably not going to come now

That's the way reporters work around here. They bug everyone except the Pope. Once they actually followed Modric to church and started bombarding him with questions regarding his transfer. at least they ask him.....over here they make it up while sat in the pub Has anyone else seen the kerfuffle on Football365 about the Sun's European Football Expert? no.......do tell http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8750_3459051,00.html

Yeah 23,000 euros a week is probably well below the going rate for a player of his reputation. People seem very sure if they are dragging out Silvio Maric to give interviews.
-
Can of worms I know, but there are so many people around the clubs transfers these days that we don't know what is what, and I doubt Keegan would have had the time to fully check Modric out. This could have been a job for SuperScout (Vetere), while perhaps Enrique was a job by SuperAgent (Jiminez).

Here is a question worth asking: It's all true. There is a geniune interest, and we've made overtures. Who is behind this signing?

Can you imaging Mr Fallows trying to prove his worth to KK? KK "So what do you do then Dave?" DF "Oh, er, i watch videos, yeah, like this you see?" KK "Yeah i think i do...and people have the nerve to call Terry useless" DF "Don't worry, my wages are paid for by the nash, please don't sack me!" Even though we have immediately appointed a replacement?
