    Dyer's replacement

Would probably be a bit higher if he hadn't been injured, but Dyer's game has never been about direct assists. Dyer's game has always been about collecting the ball in the defensive half, carrying it forwards into the final third, then delivering it to the feet of a more creative player, before continuing his forward run, dragging markers away from the real dangermen.

    Dyer's replacement

He crucially missed a sitter in the last minute and also it was his shit header that handed them their second. You are talking shite. A sitter he made for himself, and without him, it would have been 2-2, and we'd have never reached the second round. Didn't really make it for himself, all he needed was to flick it past someone. It it wasn't for him it would probably still have been 1-2 anyway. And you seriously believe that another player in the team would have reached the ball, and got in that goal scoring situation? And which player could we realistically bring in to do that for us if needed in the future? No-one, as West Ham or Spurs would have already signed them up rather than take a risk on an injury prone, over-paid, one-trick player. The defensive question is irrelevant, we all know that Dyer can't defend. I'm arguing that we couldn't replace his attacking/matchwinning.

    Dyer's replacement

Ever occurred to you that it's possible for ANYONE, even if they're the toppest top proper manager of all time to make shit decisions? Goldfinger said, 'Mr Bond, they have a saying in Chicago: "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, the third time it's enemy action"'

    Dyer's replacement

Quality article here: http://www.newcastle-online.com/2007/07/23/kierons-not-that-dyer/#more-743 Raises a good point - why do top managers like Curbishley and Jol want him?

    Dyer's replacement

His injury problems ended in 2006. And Newcastle United have always beenmuch much much worse when he's been injured. George Burley Ruud Gullit Sir Bobby Robson Kevin Keegan Sven Goran Eriksson Graeme Souness Glenn Roeder Steve McClaren Sam Allardyce The above either thought he was good enough to play for England, or picked him to play in the starting XI whenever fit. These are footballers and managers. They'll have better footballing knowledge than anyone on this forum, even the shit managers on that list, and they've all recognised the quality of Kieron Dyer.

    Dyer's replacement

By the way, although I think that Dyer is one of the best on the planet when it comes to running on the ball with speed, he is far from the best player in the world, in fact the rest of his game is very limited. However any good manager knows that a player and a team should play to their strengths, and there are definitely worthwhile assets that can be obtained from a used correctly Kieron Dyer. Bobby Robson did that, and we finished 4th, 3rd and 5th. Many forget Dyer's crucial role in many matches, including the 3-2 win over Feyenoord. Other players that possess any real attacking attributes that can make the difference between defeat and victory are out of our reach. We just finished 13th remember? Thus Dyer is irreplaceable for us. If he goes, the best we can do is reshuffle the team, make the most of the fact that we no longer have to accomodate a player that doesn't fit amongst the conventional tactical systems, and then spend the money on whatever areasare weakened by the reshuffle.

    Dyer's replacement

Its on one of the World videos, but haven't got the time to look at them all. Check out Hartlepool post match though - it is clear that Allardyce rates him extremely highly. And he says he's irreplaceable and is the BEST IN THE WORLD at carrying the ball? Give over man. He said he couldn't find another player who could run forward with the ball more effectively iirc.

    Dyer's replacement

You're saying you've strung together some random comments made by different people and you make it look as if you're saying it. Then you wonder what is funny about it. OK. No, I'm saying that other people can voice the same opinions without being laughed at. A lot of people are being very forgetful and fickle methinks, now he's likely to leave.

    Dyer's replacement

 The first two sentences were said by Allardyce himself last week. The third sentence is the general consensus of the forum. The second paragraph gathers that info, saying we will therefore have to reshuffle instead of replace. So what is so funny about that?

    Dyer's replacement

Kieron Dyer is irreplacable. There is no other player in the world that has his high speed ball control. Dyer has not benefitted from being forced to play in rigid formations under recent management, and a departure would be a very very very bad career move. He is an asset Sam won't want to lose, I don't want to lose, but it will allow us to reshuffle and play a more conventional formation more effectively.
  14. Depends on the opposition, the oppositions tactics, the state of the game, the tactics being used by us, the other players on the pitch for us. In other words, in some situations, a rejuvenated Duff or N'Zogbia may provide the best option on the left with Milner or Solano on the right, but at other times, playing Milner on the left would be the best option. I'm expecting more dynamic team selections on the flanks than what was seen under Roeder.
  15. I thought you two are meant to be best mates? Or has this happenned: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=43131.0 ?
  16. I really disagree with the statement that you are 'NUFC's finest supporter.' NUFC's finest supporter wouldn't need to spend so much time trying to discredit others support.
  17. Lets not get carried away just yet! 1 swallow n all that, although encouraging to hear he got a couple. What was the performance like> I'm just stirring, that article came up on the BBC's match report. Typical Luque really, although he was much better off the ball in the attacking third, give him space and he'll always have the attacking technique.
  18. New Signing? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/4165124.stm
  19. Played up front. Had a properly numbered outfield shirt, the lot. Excellent! Did he enjoy it? Surly SSNs will show that! It was a perfect layoff by Harper that led to Milner scoring the fourth.
  20. Yeah looks like he can play the ball around. Bit worried about the high line we have been playing but its early days. I'm just worried about Ramage and Carr.
  21. I guess the World coverage is just an advert for Setanta.
  22. Cant say much from pre season, but this is our best pre season performance I've seen in a long time.
  23. Working fine for me. " Yeah, its back for now, but was down earlier for 10-15 mins. Will be interesting to see if they cope.
