Lets just forfeit.... at least that way we won't pick up any more injuries. Even our pride can't be damaged any more than it already is!

The last man standing is always the most important in the end.

.... and your plan is working how? Rather than just ignoring an idea that -might- achieve a desirable, long term outcome, why not explore that idea and if you still don't like it present a counter argument with justifications for your position. If you can't, then don't start typing. It's fairly obvious that the current plan for the club, assuming for a moment that there is a plan, is not working and has not been working for the past 4 years. So surely its time to start exploring different ideas and not just keep muddling along hoping the nightmare will end.

There are too many around the club who hang out for the prestige of being involved in a Premier League club, but have little other interest in working hard for the club. As much as I hate the idea, I think a few years in the Championship might do the club a world of good. I fear that until we take the drop, and spend more than 12 months down, the wagon riders won't jump off and we'll continue to just stumble around like a drunk horse. To say we fear what might happen if we did go down I think is ignoring the fact that we're only getting worse now anyway with no evident path to improvement available. Working to stay up is only delaying the inevitable. I think if we were to drop down in to the Championship, yes we'd loose players, yes we'd lose management, yes we'd stay down for a few years, but those who stuck around would be those who genuinely loved the club and want the club to succeed. This goes for everyone from the owner, through the players, to the tea lady. Besides, of those likely to go if we entered the Championship, who do you passionately want to keep? Given, yes, but anyone else?

Maybe he's not building a team for survival in the Premiership, but something more suited to Shola's talents and capabilities? *Puts away fishing gear*

Local-boy comes good. Shows his rich-bastard, imported colleagues how to lead from the front!
-
These days, the Newcastle team being humiliated by an opposition is like a clown being upset people are laughing at him.
-
I can not conceive how that was a push. If anything, the W'Ham defender diving to head the ball out was held back slightly, but there was no way within the laws of physics that a push was done there. Hell the defender was already flying through the air, perpendicular to the ground before the Newcastle player got his hand out to touch him!

There's not point giving CPR to a cold corpse. It may make you feel better, that your trying to save the person, but it won't make them any more alive.
-
tbf they are unbeaten in their last 5 away games and are better away than at home. yes... but to be honest... we completely, 100%, without any hint of doubt...... suck!
-
Not including the free kicks, how many times has Geremi actually touched the ball? He's completely nowhere! Duff and Guthrie just can't execute passes. The defence is so slow they are constantly losing foot-races against Bellamy & Cole. The majority of the team are just spectators, heck they should be charged admission along with the rest of the fans watching the game!

We sucked. Hull were worse. Ref' was totally incompetent!

Excellent post, I totally agree. Its not an excellent post, it missed the point entirely. Yes, good teams get done by large margins when they are having an off day or when the team that beats them has a miraculous day, shite happens. But, when ManU lost badly to Boro, did ManU ever look like they stopped trying? When Barcelona got beaten 4-2 by Chelsea, did Barcelona's players ever look like they didn't give a toss? Yes, it sucks we got hammered, but what makes it unacceptable is the manner in which our team failed to show any passion, any desire, any intestinal fortitude in attempting to take back the game. Our team came out on to the pitch looking resigned to being raped and quite willing to just let it happen (except Given). The point is that to loose badly sucks, but it is part of footballing life. To loose because you can't be bothered trying is inexcusable! Anyone know how many thousands of pounds were paid in player wages during that game alone? That squad got paid a lot of money to not give a shite.
-
Name me one club in the EPL who would (not should) happily accept the trouncing we received? Name me one club in the EPL who would (not should) happily accept the manner in which our team performed? If you can't name any, but think -we- should just accept the result and the manner of the result because that's where we're at, then you obviously think NUFC is not worthy of being in the EPL and should be relegated.
-
Reminds me of a cup-tie we had a couple of seasons ago that description. Oh yes, NUFC 1-5 Birmingham. At least we'd have the excuse that we had our reserves team playing, the squad that played tonight has no excuse for that performance. The fact is that the only people who show any desire or intent when playing for NUFC are the juniors, so lets reward them for their efforts and give them a crack at the big time.
-
We should start a reserves team line-up in our next game. At least we get our youngsters some valuable experience, even if we do get hammered. Having your experienced guys slaughtered doesn't achieve anything, heck send the whole firsts team back to play the next reserves game, that'd stick it up them.
-
NUFC should get a sponsorship from Vaseline and Trojan. Shay Given: At Newcastle United, we always make sure we have protection and a smooth experience when taking it up the <Ad' ends>
-
The level of investment required to rescue this team is not going to come from Ashley, nor anyone else in this economic climate. There are no more Abramovich's (spelling???) in the world (heck even Abramovich isn't Abramovich any more), the only way we will build a decent squad now is over many years (as much as a decade depending on what path is taken).

The only thing I care about is, what is going to be done to fix things? The only thing that I can see giving us any chance of improving as a club (and I mean as a whole club) is to now get relegated. As long as we stay in the top-flight we will keep on eeking out transfers and seasons trying to not drop, never performing the wholesale changes required to become a great club. This whole club needs a complete clear out. Organisation-wise we have a shit administration that is clueless to the issues or incapable of addressing them under present circumstances, team-wise we're completely (excluding Given and miraculous once-off performances) devoid of talent or skill, football management-wise we're devoid of strategic or tactical capabilities. We need to go back to a lower league where we can perform open-heart-surgery on the club, build a squad of young, talented administrators, managers and footballers and build ourselves up. I can see no way forward, under current circumstances we are devoid of hope and any attempt to not be relegated is just delaying the inevitable. Yes we might avoid relegation this year, but look over the past few years and all that is happening is we are slowly slipping lower and lower down the rankings. We should just get it over with, shoot this mule in the head and go buy a new horse. It's time to face up to reality, accept what is going to happen and get on about fixing things. It'll either be 5 years to recover if we crack on with it, or 10 years if we keep fighting the inevitable.

Don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.
-
The second Butt started running to intercept that pass you could tell he was going to go sliding in and give away the penalty. He was too slow, too far behind the ball and was always going to collect nothing but legs. I hope Kinnear punches him!
-
I just worked out what is going on. NUFC has already been sold to the Joozians who will shortly appoint a talking Taco who shits ice-cream, named Najix, as the clubs new managing director. So until we get polaroids of the network chiefs sucking each other off, this reality-show is going to continue until it gets cancelled. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancelled_(South_Park) to work out what the heck I'm talking about)
-
It could just be part of the grand plan. Get rid of Keegan, thrash around looking like no one wants the job, hire someone totally incompetent to make Wise look good and then have Wise ride in like a knight in shining armor.

At least we'd know what the new team mascot would look like: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/00/812_image_17.jpg/250px-812_image_17.jpg

Well.... I'm inspired. I can't wait for the rest of the season. Champions League here we come. .... excuse me while I go and get fucked up!
