Young Carroll is very raw and has lots of rough edges which need to be smoothed out. I would have thought that bringing someone like Shearer in as a specialist forward coach wouild certainly help the likes of Carroll, Rnger and Best improve. Whether the club has the foresight to do this remains to be seen but it is clear that there is talent there and it needs to be exploited. Carroll has scored 8 goals this season and if he scores another 8 between now and the end of the season, I will be quite pleased. It is also his first real season in the side and not only has he scored goals, he has also set a few up for others. Clubs like West Ham, Wolves, Stoke etc were quite prepared to pay upwards of 4 million pounds for him because they can see the potential there. I see no reason to sell him at the moment but I do think he needs specialist work from a Shearer or a Ferdinand.

They beat Forest recently and I have no idea what hppened in that game but I would imagine Forest would have attacked them. I thought they defended well against us at SJP with a little luck thrown in but I dont think it is a good idea to go gung ho at them. They are more than capable of hitting us on the break which sounds like what happened against Forest. I would like to exercise caution here and the main thing is not to concede. If we can score early, then we can close it up in the final 20 and hit them on the break for a 2nd late on. By the sounds of it, it was pretty damn physical againast Forest so I would imagine we could expect the same so it is necessary to bring Smith back in to replace Nolan. He deserves a rest anyway. Best to the bench and Lovenkrands in. Also, we need Colo back. So, same team as last night with Smith in for Nolan, Colo for Hall and Loven for Best........................2-0 to us

With the squad we now have, 10 wins from our last 18games plus a few draws is extremely doable.....................I am going for 98 points with 11 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats over the remaion
-
Interesting to see how well the goals are spread around our forwards this season. By my calculation, Nolan with 11 followed by Ameobi, Carroll and Lovenkrands all on 8, not forgetting the 5 Harewood scored and a couple for young Nile. Not bad.

According to the Sun, Vanessa (the undresser) has shagged half the Chelsea squad. I expect Terry's ego will have taken a huge stumble after this has got out.
-
I think Butt has already stated that this is his last season

I dont see anyone else coming in unless we have some serious problems with more injuries. Maybe extent the loan of the young dutch lad from Chelsea but that wouild be it.
-
Personally, I will be glad to see him back, as long as he is played in his best position in the centre of the midfield.
-
GeordieDean Yes, I agree they score goals for fun but as long as we keep winning one or two nil, I dont really care. Our defence has only conceeded something like 16 goals in 27 games and Hughton,s philosophy seems to be a tight defence first and foremost. Makes you think about the old Arsenal days under George Graham, not that I am making comparisons between the teams but more so the results.
-
Elbie Quite posibly so, put there are players out there who could do a job in defence. No player is irreplaceable, even John Terry. One thing is for sure, this matter needs to be fully sorted prior to the next England friendly.
-
Toons Taylor From what I gather, WBA signed a lad from Holland called Andwele Slory whilst Forest failed to sign anyone. Pwerhaps they were both hoping to spend their budgets on Moses. Forest dont seem to have a very big squad and if they pick up a few injuries, they could drop off the pace whilst WBA seem to have a healthy list of players available.
-
Ronaldo I am not even going to discuss the matter with you because you seem more intent on developing yet another immature argument. MY OPINION IS that I feel there are enough players who can replace/cover both of these players in the squad and that despite what others have said on this thread, I think Rooney is more than capable of captaining the team. As for being an England fan, I hope they do well but I dont think they will get beyond the QF as usual. In any case, I am really looking forward to seeing my adopted country at the WC again.

Actually, from what I have heard, the fee was only 650K. I heard this from a source at Coventry City itself. Dont ask me who because I cannot say. As for what Hughton has achieved in this window, it is clear that he had to work within a very limited budget and the calibre of player he has signed for the amount available to him is outstanding. We all know these signings have been basically purchased to help get promotion and to have 5 or 6 hungry players eager to get out there can only spare on a current threadbare and tired squad. I think he has done extremely well, considering the restraints that were put on him and it is noticeable that neither WBA or Forest really added much to their squads during the window. This could turn out to be an advantage to mus later in the season.

Dont take either of them. The dressing room will already be split if both are there or even if one or the other is there. Terry will have lost respect from most players, the management team, the FA and possibly most of the country. He is a role model to kids and whether his indiscretions are football related or not, as a figurehead of the national team, he should be dropped altogether if nothing ore than for the moral issues. We have all complained regarding players off field activities in the past, espedcially at NUFC. Most people wanted Dyer banished from the club after what he did at Middlesbrough. Unfortunately, it is a sad indictment of society today where there is a total lack of respect by the current generation towards most values in life and those who hold the proverbial pound note in higher esteem than moral issues in life. The world was a better place in the 50s and 60s. IMO, Sack him and leave him behind to teach him a very valuable lesson
-
My Kids Agreed. So the decision for Capello is simple. Dont take either of them. Terry has lost total respoect of the players and Bridge was a back up only. I dont expect Engl;and to win the WC anyway so why reward Terry. Fuck him.
-
Breaking News.................................for Skirge Heard Beckford is currently having a medical at the RVI Can you confirm?
-
Ronaldo You have asked this question before and it was suitably answered the first time. There are a myriad of issues here other than whether Bridge was still with her or not. Also, take into accouint Capello being a staunch catholic and anti abortionist, it is fairly certain Terry's captaincy will be sacrificed and possibly even his place in the WC squad. The issues relate to the following: 1. The affair in general, 2. His past history, 3. The Abortion, 4..Effect on team morale, 5..The effect on his wife and m ore importantly, his kids, 6....The fact he seemed more concerned about his back pocket than anything else Does that answer your concerns?
-
We probably could have got Beckford and Moses for a combined 6 million quid and sold Carroll to Wolves/Stoke for 4 million quid. Net outlay of 2 million..................................chicken feed in this day and age, even for Ashley We have made soooooooooooooooooo many mistakes here.
-
Zoltan So, mate, how are you going to react to the news that Dorrans is leaving to join us............................apparently?
-
Yeah, I agree............Fuck him off altogether because we arent going to win the WC anyway. Give Rooney the captaincy
-
Spence Fair enough, but I am pretty sure Moses will help the club out by going to a club he doesnt want too because he knows the club needs the money

He is finished now anyway. Regardless of injuries, at 31, age has caught up with him and injuries have taken toll on his onmly real asset......Pace. He is gone -
Not a hope in hjell getting Dorrans and as for Ambrose, he could be useful in the short term but that is about it.
-
It couild have happened to us two years ago, if it werent for Ashley buying out Hall and Shepherd. I feel sorry for their fans bit I daresay in these current times with transfer fees and players salaries spiralling out of control, Portsmouth will be the first of many.
