totally different,at least in the case of bellamy as we had no-one to play wide right (where he has played before) and could play shola through the middle instead. What? As far as I can remember we had Bowyer, Ambrose, Dyer and Milner who could all play on the right and allow our best player (which was undoubtedly Bellamy at that time) to play in his proper position. I seem to remember one match when we had Shola, Bellamy, Kluivert, Robert, and Shearer all on the pitch. The fella was a mentalist, man. bowyer was playing centre mid at the time (or going throught one of his s*** spells)...dyer injured (at a guess)ambrose was s*** and i'm gonna check toonstats to see where milner was Look, I know you love Souness, but there can really be no excuse for playing Shola on the left. Even worse than playing Martins on the right. righto.....look i never made an excuse for playing shola on the left. and totally agree re martins Imo, there are some parallels. Souness seemed to come in and change things around simply to 'make his mark' and a lot of what Big Sam is up to smacks of the same nonsense to me. They both tried to be too clever and force changes that were neither wanted nor needed. On the other hand the supporters are the last people you wnat to listen to if you want to bring long term change. Quite true, but you have to engender faith in the fans or you've played yo'self.

I think that describes me quite well, tbh.

Allardyce Meeting With Senior Players A Week Or Two Ago.
Keefaz replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
mmmm. very dubious about stories such as these Yep, they make far too much sense to be true,. Geremi has said Smith was given the armband to give some consistency in the captaincy in the run up to--and for the duration of--the ANC. AFAIK, that's the only solid information we have about the changing of the captain, unless Crumpy knows something I don't. -

I agree with you, tbh. I don't think I'd have walked out, but the Shearer stuff is embarassing beyond belief.

How much fact is there here and how much of it is paper talk? -
I fear we will never know. 96 was the best chance i can see us ever having in my lifetime (I am 36) We've had chances, and we'll have more. One day, we'll do it. Think how close we've come to the FA Cup or even the UEFA Cup. We'll get one of those bastards one of these days. Humiliated? Aye...Very close mate. Well, making it to the final is as close as you can get to winning without actually, well, winning. I'd rather go out in the 3rd round than see what i saw in both our recent FA cup finals. Well, I don't agree with that, though I see your point. Tbh, I thought we were going to win the UEFA Cup. Certain, in fact. I got a ticket for the pissing final. Fucking Drogba, the twat.

Quite a good summary, actually.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

I was just about post something along these lines. Time has shown that the most successful--and popular--Newcastle sides have played attacking, fearless football. To me, it's suicide for a manager to come in and try to change that with their 'cat and mouse', 'game of chess' setups.

I agree in principle, but kids are naturally competitive. Divide any group of kids into two and you'll create an 'us vs them' mentality. They should be encouraged to play the game for fun, but they're usually going to want to win whether it be for personal pride or for the sake of the team. They can win their own games like I tried to do when I played singles or doubles, or gates. Take away adults from their game and that competitiveness and desire to win will still be there, only without any kind of pressure meaning no fear of failure, more freedom of expression and a greater love for the game. Not to mention a higher degree of skill and a much more rapid learning curve. Kids go into a game wanting to win, but when they don't it matters because us adults have placed 3 points in their faces and put them under pressure to perform to move up that table. Take away the adults and the 3 points and kids go into a game wanting to win, only after the match the result doesn't matter though. A much healthier environment. A good summary, grass. To play with a natural will to win, but without the massive pressure of 'avoiding defeat any cost'. ....a message lost on SA perhaps? Well, quite, Parklington.

I remember Souness playing shite, clueless formations and getting nowhere with them in much the same way as Allardyce is doing, tbh. Shola and Bellamy on the wings, etc.

''Men at some time are masters of their fate" Nice bit of shakesphere a little dry for me though This is Sam's Shakespeare moment. 4-3-3 or not 4-3-3: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler on the pitch to suffer The long balls and set pieces of percentage football, Or to pass the ball against a weak defence, And by attacking beat them?

Oooooh, I'm scared!

Sometimes it's majestic; an art-form, beautiful. Other times it's dirty, dull, slow, heart-breaking, painful. The former is rare, the latter the norm, especially if you're an Englishman who follows NUFC too. I get all my joy from watching the bairn play these days and even then that game is ugly too, or rather that level. More so than the adult game. I quite enjoy kids' games. At least they care about the result and about the sport. A few weeks ago I was half-watching a lads' 5-a-side match whlie warming up and one little kid was in tears because he'd gifted the ball to an opponent who stuck it away for a goal.
-
Is that real? Yes. Wrong on so many levels, I don't know where to begin. It's pathetic, it really is. Barton's obviously no saint but to always bring this up is verging on offensive iyam. EDIT - and I'd not even realised how shit it reads. It's hilarious that they couldn't wait to even finish the sentence before bringing it up! Joey barton--whose brother is a racist killer--is alledged to have attacked, in much the same way his racist murderer of a brother killed a man, two people--which is actually one more person than his brother Michael, 18, brutally killed--last night in Liverpool (where Barton's brother killed someone).
-
I had this argument with my dad a few weeks ago. They just cannot stop going on about his brother. Like that stupid slag Gabby Logan on Inside Sport a couple of weeks a go. Bitch. The lad doesnt stand a chance - they will only rest when he is hung drawn and quartered I didn't see the interview, but I heard she was out of order and kept on harping back to it like she was trying to goad him into saying something.
-
add "been" after allegedly. Even then, what does 'the racist murder black A-level student' mean? And you can't just shoehorn that in there and try to end your sentence with 'and two of his companions' which suggests that Barton's brother killed 3 people. It's a fucking car crash of a sentence. Not to mention the fact it's got sod all to do with anything.
