Let's be straight. The manager of Sunderland is as much a thug as Barton has ever been, intentionally ruining a fellow professional's carreer and betraying his country to boot. On top of that he regarded yesterday's violence as just "high spirited fans enjoying themselves". If crowds are allowed to be judge and jury and dictate what players and officials can and can not do will Keane be asked to stay out of sight and away from the touch line at SJP in case he infuriates the home fans ? I think not.

Because no Sunderland player, director or official would ever choose to live in the place (and lets be fair who could blame them) they have traditionally prerferred Newcastle or Durham as a place to live and socialise. Newcastle people have generally bitten their lips and remained civilised and dignified when these mackem "celebs" are seen around town. It goes without saying that no Newcastle player could ever safely set foot in Sunderland (a ludicrous comparison I know) but I think that as long as they treat Newcastle supporters in the way they do and their mangement and directors turn a blind eye to the problem, then perhaps we should let them know they are no longer welcome in pubs, clubs and restaurants north of the Tyne.

Again illustrates's Sunderland Football Club's inability to operate their stadium within the law. No doubt a little bit of Keane "blarney" and they'll get away with this too.
-
The reason there were only 29 arrests is because ONCE AGAIN they have got away scot-free. There were HUNDREDS involved in the PITCH INVASION and MISSILE HURLING but because YEAR AFTER YEAR they get off so lightly they now assume it's their right to behave like sub humans without reproach from the law. The police are still working on the trouble they caused at the last two Boro derbies at the Staduim of Light, before yesterday's debacle. Until the FA finally act and clamp down on Sunderland's behaviour and inability to control their crowd, they will assume that they can do this at every derby match in the safe knowledge NOTHING will happen to them.

Which says a lot about his character under very difficult circumstances. Thanks for showing dignity Joey in the face of such provocation and look forward to you paying them back with a match winning performance when they come to SJP.

Just watched JK being interviewed on Sky and the reporter asked him if it was "wise" to involve Barton given the reception it provoked ? FFS a substitute warms up in a Premier league game and is attacked and abused by a hoard of inbred hooligans - so somehow they imply it's the manager's fault for asking him to warm up

Who cares? If you ain't seen the tyne bridge your obviously just faking it. Get over it. As a Newcastle born and bred Newcastle fan, I have the highest respect for supporters who come from outside the region and the extra effort and cost they incur in following the team. You are as much a part of the club as those from the north east.

f***ing good. I hope they wiped their arses on the seats before they chucked them joey barton goes to take a corner and 3000 makems are out of their seats trying to t*** him from the stands. gassing would be too lenient for those c***s. I think that's going a bit too far. A 30 point deduction and public execution of their manager would suffice but no doubt the namby pambies in the FA will let them off with a slapped wrist again.

That place always did look like it was built on the cheap.

Once again Sunderland fans invade the pitch at the Stadium of Light and once again their manager plays it down as celebratory high spirits. Added to that more coin throwing at opposition players. I sympathise with Sunderland if the actions are caused by some of the 10,000 or so who seem only to turn up for their big games, but frankly this has happened too often now and it's time the F.A. took action before someone is seriously injured.

David Batty is the hardest I've ever seen and would fit that description perfectly.

Mike Ashley - Newcastle's best ever chairman/owner.
Benwell Lad replied to Benwell Lad's topic in Football
A chairman celebrating passionately like the fans. I like that. A big difference from the previous regimes who liked to display their "professional Geordie" credentials when it suited them but remained totally detached and aloof from the people in the stands, indeed resorting to openly insulting us on occasions. -
Should have told him to f*ck off back to the Bridges centre or whatever it's called. Did he spit on you ?
-
Many would say that makes you an independent thinker who can rise above sentimental tosh. Not a c*** at all.

Agreed - it it's funny how it's the younger supporters who are pouring scorn on us older lot. I've been called paranoid and unrealistic recently by fans who can't remember this club prior to 1992/93. The danger signs are there for all to see, but will folk listen? Will they bollocks. I'm 50+ and have supported Newcastle all my life through thick but mainly thin and along with many others I think Ashley's method was the best chance we have had to finally become a serious football club. It's all about opinions but I don't think age has a lot to do with it.

Should be given some kind of award for services to football for telling those c@nts where to go.

I don't think any true NUFC fans would question the great times we had with KK as a player or a manager nor that he was a great guy. Equally NUFC fans should not be expected to show blind faith because of that. Remember Keegan walked away from us for whatever reason, and despite the sh*t that put us in he has yet to say anything. The boys at NUFC.com whatever you think about them are surely true Newcastle fans and they have written :- The cynical side of us can't help wonder what part finance played in all of the September saga that plumbed new depths for this club. Keegan has always been viewed as a man of principal but there aren't many whose principals aren't swayed by colour of money.... I think we all love Keegan, but he walked out on us. Again.

Not as much as he would love to keep his Soccer Centre creditors happy is my guess. Shame. Nail on head. Makes you wonder why he came back in the first place and got out so quickly once an "opportunity" arose. Choosing to believe the press now are we. I don't read the press - what are they saying like ? I can see why you missed it then, but apparently the London Evening Standard newspaper - which obviously has it's finger on the pulse of the goings on at Newcastle United - is claiming that Keegan is suing the club for £9m. The really funny thing is though that some people are choosing to believe it without any quotes or evidence whatsoever, purely based on what "Standard Sport understands"! BTW for someone who doesn't read the press you sure have a lot of posts in the "The Media : 'We hate Newcastle United'" thread. Just posting your opinion on something you know absolutely nothing about as usual I guess. Then saying you're so smart you've probably noticed that they relate to media other than the press (you do realise there is a difference don't you ?) or relate to posts about press articles already in there. Or is that you replying to a post you haven't bothered reading properly again? I guess.

? Looks a fair wage for a manager in relation to what players earn nowadays. It's more than fair considering he hasn't even completed one year before walking out. Que? He wants paying for 3 and a half years despite being here for only 8 months? What has this to do with my point that paying a manager 50,000 pound a week looks like a fair wage in comparison to player's wages? It probably is fair. But there again if a player walks out because he doesn't like something would he expect to be paid for the next 3 1/2 years ?

What was that about them speaking for all of the fans without mandate again? As for damage done, how does painting a few banners compare with serious squad under-investment? Point 1. They speak to the press, litter the town with leaflets and organise boycotts. I talk to mates down the pub and type on here. I don't need a mandate to do that. Point 2. Amazingly it may have been the banners and staged for TV mob demonstrations that have brought the club to it's knees - much to the amusement of our detractors. They were facts. The "serious" squad under-investment you mention is very debatable especially only one year on from the financial mess we were in when ashley took over. Yes MOST people I speak to (in Newcastle) think Ashley's plan could have progressed the club and indeed the above poll re NUSC (who's only issue is Ashley out) would support that. Nothing against you NUSC Ashley out brigade, but you may have reacted a bit too quickly without fully thinking through the potential consequences of your actions
