Would have loved to have seen both Shelvey and Lascelles in there. I think they both deserve it. That is through rose tinted specs though. Lascelles was likely the more deserving but there is a lot of competition. I think its a bit silly not to have taken him to have a look though, that is what friendlies are for. He is a great leader and very vocal. Maybe he would add something different in the dressing room and squad. Guess we won't know now until after the world cup. Shelvey still has a lot to prove in terms of discipline and 3 great performances don't really make up for a lot of ill disciplined and poor ones. While Jamaal is the more deserving of the two Shelvey is till the more likely to get on the plane. Simply because he offers something different to our other midfield options I think he is still in with a shot for the summer but that will depend entirely on keeping his form consistent and improving from now until season end.

Like to see the stats on how many of those clubs got relegated the same year they were sacked. I honestly don't understand why these managers keep being employed. On form and focused he is arguably the best midfielder in the country. Certainly in his role. I would be shocked if he was even in the periphery thinking for England though. He has too much to prove in regards to discipline. Last 3 games have been fantastic though. If he kept that through to seasons end he may be a dark horse for the summer but still unlikely imo.

Lack of goals is a huge worry. The next two games couldn't be bigger...well unless we don't pick up points then the next games after that will be bigger and bigger and bigger and then pointless. It's in our hands. Shelvey back in and if he plays as he did the last two games will be huge. Hopefully Slimani can make a positive difference.
