Newcastle United 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers - post match from page 14
toontownman replied to Greg's topic in Football
Awful second half. Not that Rafa didnt but it was back to the pardew era of nick a goal and soak up pressure and defend. Anti football. Just playing the same way we played would have kept them at bay. The equalizer was inevitable. Unfortunate for Sean longstaff. He will be missed but has to learn from that. -

Amen. If wolves continue to let them grow into the game and dictate I think we will see that hopefully. -

Longstaffs really grew into the game and were starting to run the show. Crazy bit of composure from matty on the edge of his box at one point. ASM is absolutely the real deal. The Almiron conundrum continues but he also grew into the half. Joelinton is worse but has nothing to feed off. We miss something more direct through the center. Defence has played well and we generally do with Fernandez. Complete no nonsense and criminally underused. -
34 years since Canada last beat the States. Many will say the US performance was garbage. It was, but Canada were immense and outplayed the US in every department, it could have been 4 or 5. Huge win considering how Canada and other Nations have been screwed by Fifa for WC qualifying. Those ranking points will be invaluable. The return leg in Orlando next month will be huge.

This aside he was MOTM today for me. Some incredible blocks and an influential figure for sure.
-
Some errant passes and inexperienced moments, which should be expected but on the whole a hell of a debut. The energy was needed and really Bruce at last roll of the dice played a blinder playing up to the fans today with the team selection. It paid off. Potentially such a great pairing with his brother. Very different players that compliment each other. Hopefully both can continue to grow and cement those places in the middle.

It was as much as the dream line up fans would want and it worked out due to an absolutely dire Manure side. The potential is there with this team shame we don't have the coaching staff to realise it.
-
He needs protecting and his confidence boosting. If Carroll can stay fit it will help. Predictably Joelinton will be on the bench soon but that is not necessarily a negative. There is really nothing that comes through the middle to help him. He doesn't look capable of being the game changer we need up front and the team isn't confident or playing well enough to help him out. We have seen he has the tools but is as predicted not the finished article.

Quick someone photoshop Bruce's mug in the centre of a poppy with the words "we will remember him" underneath. That tweet is fucking hilarious on mackem levels. On the upside with Bruce, he generally always does well in his first season at clubs. So with that already out of the way and down the pan, we can all look forward to the next level.

Manquillo being the best RB at the club is criminal but then playing the 3rd best is even better.

Jamaal Lascelles (now playing for League One Leicester City)

Reminded me of: "You can see just how deflated he was"... once he remembered he wasnt still teammates with Perez stopped joking around and put on his serious face. Saying players need to be accountable and pick themselves up but not blaming himself as captain or the coaching staff for one of their main duties. -
Did he touch the ball?

Appreciate our captains leadership staying on the field after the game as our away fans still sing their hearts out. Supporters that despite being woefully humiliated and insulted by the players and coaching staff still support. Shame he was staying on the field to laugh and joke with Perez on camera. Fucking pathetic the entire club. -

When was the last time we conceded this many by the way? -
His career is already fucked. Clear there might be something there but never going to see it under this set up. Could be gone by the end of the season at this rate.

Double agent Bruce strikes again.

I would be surprised if there wasnt good will from most considering his playing days and the good things he did do ar the club. People do more easily remember what was the most recent and also go to the negatives. Plenty turned on him because he probably should have resigned earlier and same type of post match drivel that pisses fans off when teams are on shit runs. He wasnt going to resign from what was a dream job and he obviously believed in himself past the point of reality. Dont blame him for then end of his spell also remembering he also negotiated us through some shit times too. Should never have been in the position he was put in though.
-
In another club there is a fair chance he could be sacked before he can do damage in the transfer market ala schteevie in January. I am sure Ashley will be wary. That said they wouldnt be Bruce's signings anyway. It will come down to whether he has "lost the dressingroom" as well as the results. Considering at least 60% of these fuckers know they get it easy under Bruce that wont happen quickly. Thankfully he will do it to himself through panic trying to change things. Will start with something like leaving shelvey out who will quickly turn on him true to character. Then it will domino.
-
Can he manage to exceed our initial low expectations. Yes he can! Now we sit and wait the inevitable 6 months of "give him time" press defending him l, players and the club defending him. Blaming the fans.. "he was never given a chance" not that he even deserved one anyway. On the upside I dont need to worry about shelling out for DAZN next year.

Glad to see we are back on course, if not already back to the pre rafa era.. Silly from Hayden and similar to his mentality this time last year. We need better from our players but it will never come with who we now have in charge. Put a fox in charge of keeping the chickens safe and then wonder why they go missing. If Bruce only had the smarts of a fox. -
Absolutely pathetic. Zero organization, zero tactics, zero desire and more than anything else zero ambition, the very hallmark of sports direct United. Put the above aside its against fucking Brighton. You might expect the sitting back and defending against the top 6. This is our approach now for every game? What is the fucking point?

Newcastle 1-1 Watford - post match reaction from page 7
toontownman replied to Greg's topic in Football
Fucking gash. Not to say we didnt have flashes of decent play but Watford were piss poor. We have how lever now mastered the: Anti-press Casual overlaps Panic possession Easy pass avoidance For plusses willems when bothering played ok. Krafth was better. Joelinton is a stud and schar played well. The rest flip flopped throughout the game from average to numscullery. -

Atrocious football. Zero movement on the ball, backing away, backing out of tackles and beyond wasteful. Panicked on the ball. The goal, while credit to schar literally should be credited to Joelinton who said fuck this I am making something happen if no one else will. He looks like a stud today. Very impressed. The team looks like one with great potential but one that will not be realised under someone like Bruce due to the constant errors listed above. Both willems and atsu look great then make stupid decisions or dont try. Three points here for the taking if the players actually want, concentrate and dont continue to shoot ourselves in the foot. -
