I'm at the stage i'm more excited about watching other teams than my own its quite sad tbh. I know, comes to something when you find yourself cheering on hughton and Norwich and thinking what great signings Redmond and van wolfswinkle are. Ahaa!

Am I the only fan absolutely dreading the first day of the season. Wishing for more time! Don't see anything other than an absolute tonking here.

We can get better players to fit in our squad than Bent and Downing, but both would have been upgrades to the squad which is thread bare. We can only reserve judgement until the window closes. However, clearly the people in charge are giving the impression they have run out of ideas and don't have other options that are better. Could we get better than the above players?.. yes.. will we? Doesn't look good..This is the worry.

I don't know if we are getting more incompetent year to year or if its just the fact a year has passed and I have forgotten how inept we were previously. - Quite absurd that we have a manager complaining about Squad depth back in January... come mid August we have an even smaller squad. - Absurd that we have staff making noises in January about already scouting players and setting deals up only for us to be no further ahead and out of ideas... EVERY YEAR. - Again absurd that we have a manager and players vocal about how important having new players taking part in our pre-season is, then we wait until the last minute chancing our arm in the hopes of saving a few weeks wages and knocking a bit of money off the transfer fee. The list could be a thread long about what doesn't add up at this club. The way we are run is so contradictory and absurd at times.

At this point I feel its an absolute miracle we got him to sign.

wow. The vague hope of anything actually going on dashed once again.. as the curtain drops and there is Kinnear, Ashley and Pardew running around in blind panic because they have been rumbled. Shambles doesn't even cover it.

Exactly.. Gomis can at least work better in a 442 than Bent but neither will solve our lack of creativity through he middle or especially out wide.

Want us to sign Gomis badly now. Seems like all the hard work is done, its all down to sorting those minor details. 8 days seems excessive though!

Sinclair, Ince..................... Downing in that order. Wonder if Niang was a consideration for the wing.

Good news tbh. Obviously LW is the other area we are looking at given the Sinclair, ince and now downing links.

I want the best, most committed footballers we can get at our club regardless of race. Can't see why anyone would think that different. Can maybe understand a bit of nationalism kicking in wanting to see great English players come through but to be realistic in our aims rating nationality over the above halts progress and makes no sense to me.
