  1. Would be a great signing, think he would be here in a shot. Highly unlikely though. Been thinking more on the RB/Striker/CB dilemma. Basically we could do with all three to improve. I am tossing and turning on RB or Striker as a priority tbh. CB is reasonably covered with Tavs looking great in pre-season, Good tipped for a decent future and Streete not too far behind. Another CB like Douglas would have been perfect for now, but we would have run the risk of Saylor throwing his toys out of the pram again if he is displaced and the youngsters not getting a chance. Striker wise I think we need someone pacey that could play on the wings in a 4-3-3, or still fit into a 4-4-2 if needed. Someone like Remy is appealing and would get games. I am yet to be convinced by Sammy but he has time. Shola is Shola, could be a world beater one game but likely shit the next ten. If we are playing 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 we can use Ba and Cisse, but they need resting, most likely at the same time for some games, I would like to have someone I know would get the job done rather than hoping they turn up and perform or improve. Pardew can say we haven't lost anyone (important) which is basically true but we did have leon and Peter as 3/5th choice strikers. If they were both still here I still don't think I would play Sammy ahead of the former. Bottom line we need one more quality striker backed up by Sammy, Shola and then Campbell coming through. However with RB, we have some options, problem is most of them are shit. Santon can do a good job there, but then we don't have someone decent for LB. Simpson needs replacing and Raylor doesnt offer enough. Tavs is favored more in the middle now. The impact of a new quality RB like Debuchy would be of far greater importance than a 3rd choice striker, especially if we are mainly playing with one up top we can afford to rest on of Ba and Cisse from time to time and play 4-3-3. Im happy for the CB situation to stay as it is (fingers crossed for now major injuries) but we need another striker and RB and I will be dissapointed if we miss this window to get them.

Aye. The contract was when the shit hit the fan. When it was and should have been a reward for his hard work, it merely inflated his ego further and gave him the safety blanket he needed to slack off and slip off the rails. Severe misjudgement on the managements part, but who could tell what would ensue, he really seemed to be knuckling down and progressing rapidly. Too bad.
  3. If it's only one like pards says...I hope it is remy, closely followed by debuchy. I think remy has a bigger upside, but debuchy could really balance the team. Debuchy is still the most likely of the three, they all however look unlikely.

Good to hear women's team here did themselves credit. Looking forward to seeing how the English and Canadian teams develop for the next world cup. Decent win for the Canadian mens team tonight too, especially with a few younglings. Stunned it wasn't televised anywhere over here even if it was a friendly, basically sums up why the national team is far behind the US set up. Biggest played sport in the country yet zero money invested by the government to make an improvement. I hate seeing players like De Guzman and Hoilett snub playing for Canada but there is a part of me that understands why, would be nice if they committed and tried to help build something instead of desperately searching for loopholes to play for another country.
  5. Sad, but inevitable, health has to come first. I sure he will find a place through coaching, at the very least a high profile ambassador for the club.
  6. Not too much longer to wait until he is ours.... http://cdn.ebaumsworld.com/mediaFiles/picture/730195/82727839.gif
  7. Blatantly holding back announcing the signing until tmrw afternoon so we can announce Remy and Debucy at the same time. http://cdn.ebaumsworld.com/mediaFiles/picture/730195/82727835.gif
  8. Was he playing LB or on the wing yesterday?
  9. Thought he came back late on deadline day, remember hearing about it on the radio for the first time around 10pm coming home from a band rehearsal.
  10. Emotionally crippled by playing another game without Cabaye after coming so close to being reunited.
  11. Nah, haven't Arsenal signed 11 strikers this summer already? Good move for Arsenal imo, that is a lot of money for a 29 year old.
  12. Bastard would hold out until the day my newcastle iphone apps freeview month ran out. Going to have to load it on my wife's phone to get the interviews.
  13. Been confirmed by De Boer already. Thank you, you have made me sex wee! Watch us drop the ball with wages now!
  14. Please let this be true and sky sports aren't dicking us around! With a bit of luck we might get some momentum in the market now.
  15. Good all round from all accounts.
  16. Think its September 3rd Sept 1st for everyone else but Spurs.
  17. To be fair someone like Lukaku is what we will be looking for. Someone young that will be happy to sit on the sidelines as long as they get some games, which we will offer through the odd league and cup start then sub. We are at a bit of disadvantage as that type of player will want to go someone to get an automatic starter slot. All depends how you sell the deal, club and players future.
  18. As in he finally signs in 2020.
  19. With a slightly heavy heart I'd agree with that. Would really like him to fulfill his potential here, but I'm less and less convinced it'll happen for him. I'd say if January comes and he's still "the same" I could see him being shifted on. Then again, Pards may have worked is magic on him and he's going to be the new HBA This, we have quite a lot of cover for the wings: HBA Jonas Marveaux Amalfitano Sameobi Fergson At a push Raylor, Abeid, Vukic and Santon. If we can get more than we paid I would let him go. Especially if we are looking at bringing in a winger/striker.
  20. Pre season form means nowt, didn't duff score a hat trick at Pool in 2008??? Two words.. Smith Alan. Regardless of the opposition Obertan will gain confidence from a good performance, which can hardly be anything but a positive. The other downfall of his game, using his brain, is a harder problem to fix. He can work well for us coming on in the last 25 mins,
  21. Great to see Marv get another 80mins under his belt and Obertan actually looking good by the sounds of things.
