At the end of the day we know what we are getting with Carroll in every way. A lot of the players know him, the staff know him. While we have extensively scouted DeJong he would be at least a big a risk as Carroll if not bigger. I like the idea of DeJong being able to play out wide but how good is he actually at playing out there and how much has he played out there? I thought he spent all of last central. We have a bit of depth out wide although after being linked with players like Belhanda I would like another player of Ben Arfa's level on the other side.

I am sure his preference is coming back here, but failing everything else I think he will end up at West Ham with Big Sam and buddy Kev. Personally I am happy for him to return but not in the slightest bit upset if he doesn't, we will find someone just as adequate if not better. Carroll is a physical beast but is better technically than people are giving him credit. He is unique in terms of similar English strikers, I have no doubt we would get him back on track here. 10-15m seems a lot but at his age and the potential we know he has he would be less of a risk than DeJong, I can see why we are jumping in. I thought initially this would rumble on until late in the window, before changing my mind and thinking it will be done within a week or two. He is desperate to return, Liverpool are desperate to get rid.. it is a case of us upping are bid slightly to making Liverpool cave. They won't get more than 15m for him from anyone imo.

It would be the same regardless of who we bring in looking at who we have linked with lately. The only thing different with De Jong was his supposed versatility. If we were spending 8-12m on a striker that can play out wide then they are easier to accommodate in the team, depending on which style we play and will certainly get more chances to play. For us we want the best player we can get, it is a harder decision for Carroll who needs first team football and would be a starter at most other clubs that are interested in him.

Glad people are bringing up the Hughton era. AC is far from inept with the ball at his feet, he is pretty decent for a bigger guy. He showed a lot of promise previous to Liverpool. Your probably right actually, I was thinking about playing 4-3-3. Provided we fill the wings and midfield with pace and creativity it could work nicely. If we get Carroll back to his best Cisse/Carroll front line would scare the shit out of defenses. Bully-boy tastic!

Fucking funny this. Seems a weird one if it actually isn't just a wind up. He needs to be starting this season wherever he plays and wont get ahead of Cisse or Ba. Even if the latter does leave I can't see Carroll working with Cisse. Not against the move if he is happy to bench warm, he will undoubtedly get games given the amount of games we have, but not the pacey winger-cum striker i think we need. Be astonished if this one actually happens, although I am sure he would be desperate to come home!
