  1. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=456863&in_page_id=1771&ICO=SPORT&ICL=TOPART I dont know whats worse, the suggestion Everton would spend 15m all summer, let alone on one player (sorry 1878), or the fact anyone actually wants him at all.
  2. i dont understand why people are so hostile to lee clark. Its not as if many if any here actually know anything about his coaching abilities. He is a young coach starting off, is it the fact that he is related to the club a problem? Yet we cream ourselves over the prospect of getting Rob Lee, Ferdinand or Gary Speed to the club, why would they be considerably better? Lee Clark has always been determined and focused on coaching, he has done it for a while now with Youth teams, just because he wasnt world class as a player doesnt mean he wont aspire to anything in the coaching world. Had we appointed Coleman pre fulham would people have been happy and not sceptical? people are never happy around here.
  3. its a vague possibility
  4. Who needs distin, we can buy pretty much buy who we want now, provided we can pursuade them to come!
  5. devoid of a footballing brain is a bit harsh, he obviously has one, its just applicating and disciplining himself to use it. In a similar style to Kluivert he is happier to come deep to collect the ball than run into the right holes upfront, whilst sometimes his awareness seems lacking, i think its just a motivation and discipline issue. For instance his all round play in the first AZ game was immense, at several points this season he has backheeled, passed and flicked to players around him unexpectedly, his hanging back for his second goal against Tallin, which he later repeated in the season was also evidence, although unothadox of an out and out striker that would have been running straight into the goal mouth. These lack of footballing brain comments are nonsense, of course only imho.
  6. WOO! Thought he was going to be back for July, that was the last I read. Tuncay would be the man, get emre on the phone right away!

    Fowler

Rather see him playing for Toronto myself. But thats my new found canadian bias coming into play. Dont think he will offer too more than sibierksi/carroll or even shola tbh.
  8. To be fair, I dont know what people want from Martins. Bar the last game of the season, which he has apologized for as a misunderstanding, he has never moaned, hasnt come out like Tevez, Anelka, Chimbonda etc and said he would love to play somewhere else or move to a bigger club sometime (infact he has said the opposite). He scored 17 times in his first season in a new league, style and surroundings. Is nigh on unstoppable when he wants to be, has played double the amount of first team games he has ever played. Yes he is still raw, he is 22 and its his first season, give him a break, he has the makings of being a better striker than we have possibly ever seen, he has it all he just need the right coaching and time, he can be anything we want him to be, he has everything. Half the board talks about us not being good enough to attract great players and managers, "Allardyce is a good as we can get at the moment", "we are in a transitional period". Yet magically we are happy to let a potential one go, because he isnt the finished article. He can go for the greater good. what greater good is that? We can spend the money on rebuilding the squad, taking a step back to go forwards, fair enough, except when things arent going pretty and we have a mediocre squad, will fans be calling for allardyces head again, what make people think the petulance and synacism of the past will be different this time? Im wondering where this consistent all round 20+ goals a season player is going to appear from, and why we think we will find one by selling the best ones we have. Then should we find one will we contain ourselves enough not to run him out of the club when he has a bad performance and scores only 19 in his first season? Is any player really good enough? Its clear to see which clubs either Martins and Owen will go from here and it wont be a step down. Whilst I can appreciate should Owens heart not be in it here, i have no problems with us selling him. But this has never been the case with Martins, who only a couple of weeks ago confirmed his happiness at staying here next season. Im sure in a couple of years when we end up with Kevin Davies and alike stuck in a goalscoring dry patch we will be quick to dismiss our ambition once again.
  9. Good news really, Sibbers wants first team football we cannot afford to give him any. He would have been the equivalent back up of Lee Clark two seasons ago. He isnt good enough for where we want to be, but would have sat in the squad until we were stupidly short. Fair play to him for not wanting to sit and pick up the pay check. He always gave his all for us and scored some important goals. He came as a joke, but leaves in good graces, hes no Ketsbia but he ican proudly feel he is the second best cult hero, bald player weve had!
  10. Wasnt good enough apparently, according to most people it was just SBR helping his old club out! Again, as explained by others before BENT turned us down, not the other way around. He wanted regular first team football, at the time SBR wanted him as back up to shearer and bellars. The deal was good to go, but he decided to stay at Ipswich. He would be a good aquisition, although an expensive one, would probably prefer Anelka, although Bent is younger and is more likely to honour his contract.
  11. Several reports suggesting we might be close to hiring both Mike Forde and Mark Taylor. Great start if we can get these two this week. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2084998,00.html http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premiership/newcastle/article1821553.ece
  12. I wouldnt want to get rid of Parker, he had a fantastic first season for us, giving him the armband was too much pressure and responsibility. He works better as a DM for me.

    Fowler

Are the majority of people voting for fowler those also wanting sibierski out? No thanks for me.
  14. Sounds like a decent squad filler if he is cheap. But do we really need any more squad filling strikers with Sib, Ameobi and Carroll?

    5 released

Im getting a negative Roeder vibe here... Its in the past let it go. I will never hold Roeder in the same distain as Souness, Gullit and even Daglish. Pav is a big boy who has been around enough to know the score, suprised to hear him moaning tbh.
  16. Not to mention the tear-jerking episode where the nasty aliens try and take K9 away from him.
  17. once he gets to his first training session and gets his wand out, you will be amazed at the results!
  18. disgrace really, milner has more right to be in the england set up than Downing IMO and that would just be playing out of position on the left, his time will come though and he is far from the finished article. should have got the B call up though, dissapointed for him. Good for Taylor though, even if he isnt going to play the majority of the match.
  19. Im suprised at the at the opposition to Heinze, he had a shocker against Milan but he has always been dependable for Manure. He is streaks ahead of any left back we have had here in the past 15 years, given his versatility and experience, not to mention the fact manure are possibly releasing him I think he would be ideal for us. I cant believe you have actually ever watched him play more than a couple of times if you are comparing him to bramble.
  20. like it, if it works, although hardly an imbersment to the fans to go watch us play away!
  21. probably better than roeder signing kenny miller mind.
