  1. We are f*cked. The North American supporters will be lucky to see three games next year.

    RIP sale thread.

My guess is that it is AEG and Anschutz... that is who was looking into buying Newcastle in the fall. Talks broke down over Ashley's price... now that the price is lower ... well things could be looking up. If it is AEG expect everything to be sponsored and the first XI to be perpetually on tour during the off season.
  3. Any substance to that other than Louise 'SMB' Taylor saying he has went on holiday? I dont read any quote or anything in that article to suggest as such? No, there is nothing in that article. Shearer doesn't know what is going to happen, neither does Mike Ashley and then the article ends with Joey Barton saying he doesn't know what is going to happen either except that he is not going to leave Newcastle unless forced to do so (greed). Terrible article.

Good news. JC was one of the best 1st team coaches we've had in recent memory... although Steve Clarke is highly rated as well.

  6. Duff is pushing too far up. Milner has been free to do as he likes so far.
  7. I feel for Ronaldo. I am 8 hours behind - its only 9pm here so I am currently drinking myself to oblivion and then having the alarm going off just before 8AM when teh game starts.
  8. The thing is so many of our players owe us so big (!) that even if one o f them does get a goal in the 90th minute and saves us from relegation and doom I am not even sure they would deserve any of heroic accolades that will come their way considering the mess we're in is largely their fault and showing any committemnt this late deserves no more than a quiet "thank you for doing your job." Owen? Smith? Even Nicky Butt has failed us. Certainly Viduka... Shola? fuck we are doomed. The only exception for me is Duff... maybe ... because thsi season he seems to suddenly have discovered that he cares and has put in effort. I know most of you would disagree but that is what it looked like to me.
  9. ho ho... Say what you will about the sparrowhawk's ability his debut was a 3-0 win against man u. Jamie was the luckiest SOB ever to come wear the shirt - totally out of his depth. For some reason Gullit rated him. I will grant he was honest about his ability (or lack thereof) and he claimed to have spent 20 minutes in the toilets puking his guts out when Ruud told him he was starting against Spurs he was so nervous. I would have doen the same.
  10. soccernet.com has us winning with both Hull and Sunderland losing... if only.
  11. I had a nightmare last night that we lost in the final minute to a Milner volley. I am usually superstitious about old boys scoring against us, but in this case I blame .COM for planting the seed.
  12. Bad quality video but captures how I have always felt as a Newcastle supporter... I am soooooo old (38) I actually saw this in the theatres. I bet only Madras can make that claim.
  13. I have not decided if I should stay at home or risk public humiliation.
  14. Ta Pedro and Toonarmy. You do what you have to. Its not like there's a choice involved. [/pavlov]
  15. FYI - the game will be live shown live on Setanta 1 in North America. 7AM PT - which is better than 5AM.

Alright Mr Pedant! The clowns and conmen can be got rid of without relegation imho. Is that better? And I can't understand what Dave is on about, are you saying that it'll be cost effective to get relegated? I am not trying to be pedantic, but I feel that many on here just have an axe to grind against Niall and Biffa... that I just don't understand. They run a blog that has been kept up to date on current info for 15 years(!). I don't agree with everything they say, but I am impressed with their dedication and sacrifice. Anyway, in their unfinished match report that sentense was slightly different and began: "If there is a silver lining to be had..." they are just thinking out loud about what good could possibly come from relegation. It then changed to the quote above. They are grasping at straws ... as are we all.

... also that is not exactly what they said.
  18. Regardless of how things work out in the next four games I want Shearer to stay on for purely prgamatic reasons. He either needs to succeed or fail over a significant stretch of time for us to get past this. I hope it works but then if it fails at least we won't be overshadowed by the idea of Shearer as manager any longer and can move on.
  19. I have been a 7 since January and I now move up to a 9 where it will stay unless there is: 1. miracle at Anfield or 2. we are relagated before our Villa game
  20. Still at 7 - where I was in January. So far no surprises and still a 70% chance we are going down. I think we'll get another 7-8 points and it won't be enough.
  21. I am thinking we'll lose this one. I honestly cannot see us winning this. If we get a draw we'll be lucky. I am interested to see what impact Alan can make, but other than confidence building it doesn't change the fact we don't have anyone who can cross or even take a corner. I am seeing an argument to bring on Carroll and as much as he has impressed as at a target player he'll just stand there like a statue without service - so will Owen. We'll lose a bitter midfield battle with no pace on our side and our strikers will be starved of service. I wish we had Barton back for this one in place of Butt.
  22. Doubled with the fact that the Southern press loves its stereotypes of Northerners especially Geordies.
