They did charge him. Well, of bringing the game into disrepute. .... Carry on!
-
In which case, should Roy Keane be charged now with violent conduct for admitting a few years later in a book what he done to Inge-Haaland?
-
Fairly obvious he's only just been charged because he's only now admitted the incident.
-
Charged with violent conduct by the FA after the Dabo assault. When will it end?
-
Can't we lock this thread until something vaguely progressive happens? It must get another 1000 views each time its bumped

I've noticed our official site love doing stuff like that. Fuckers.
-
Official squad; Shay Given, Steve Harper, Tim Krul, Fraser Forster, Jose Enrique, Claudio Cacapa, Danny Guthrie, Oba Martins, Damien Duff, Charles N'Zogbia, James Milner, Alan Smith, Jonas Gutierrez, Geremi, Habib Beye, Nicky Butt, Shola Ameobi, Steven Taylor, David Edgar, Ben Tozer, Sebastien Bassong, Frank Wiafe Danquah, Ryan Donaldson, Mark Doninger, Jonny Godsmark So definately no Owen, although I would have thought he would have travelled anyway as captain.
-
From the official site, not that it was in any doubt; French defender Sebastien Bassong was included in the 25-man squad as United await the completion of the formalities of his transfer from FC Metz.

Woo. I love it when signings close to happening go tits up.
-
So everyone seems to think its going to happen, but until it does, nobody knows. Argh.
-
Some nice comments he's given to Setanta; “I’m content, very satisfied to sign with Newcastle,” Bassong told setantasports.com. “To be honest, I didn’t expect this to happen, it’s huge for me. “No, it’s not a dream come true to me, but it’s impossible to measure how motivated I am. “The law of competition will show who plays and who doesn’t. “I’ll have to adapt during a period of time, I don’t know how long it’s going to take me. “Nevertheless, I’m ready to sit on the bench if I have to. “I will be played at centre back, oh yes.”

I hate these kind of transfers Desperately waiting for any new kind of info, and then as soon is it looks promising, something goes tits up. I need to ban myself from these boards and newsnow until the 16th.

I used to be so optimistic at times like this, because it usually worked out in our favour. Aimar, Modric, Turan and Woodgate have kinda killed it now :\ Fingers crossed though, I'm at the stage where any signing is a good signing.

This is a football forum everyone has the right to their opinion, even if you don't agree with it, there is no need for personal abuse. The problem is, its not personal opinion though. Its always the OTT negative opinion, simply just to get people riled. No place for that really.

I wondered where Northern Monkey went, actually. Did he get a new account to try and get some sort of response? Just fucking ban it.

Keegan spoke to BBC Radio on Sunday though, and he is confident the Newcastle skipper is on the verge of committing his long-term future. "Hopefully, that will be sorted out within the next two or three weeks," he said. Touch wood, maybe a bit of pressure on Ashley to up his offer there too.
-
Duff for Warnock was our supposed latest offer - and that Blackburn are interested. I guess if Charles is staying, it could make sense. From our friend Nicko by the way.
-
Give him £200k a week if it stops Shola and Smith ever starting together up front.
-
Typically decent comments from Keegan; "Meanwhile, the United boss said that Oba Martins would be given as long as he needed to return following the death of his mother in Nigeria. "I told him to go home," he added. It's a terrible thing to lose your mother. He'll come back when he's ready, however long it needs to take. "He's a very fit boy and has done all his pre-season and will not be lacking too much in that department.""

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article4401681.ece Michael Owen has told Newcastle United that he is eager to remain at the club beyond the end of his present contract, but the England forward will not accept a pay cut as the price for his loyalty. The 28-year-old striker is relishing life under Kevin Keegan, but unless a new deal is agreed before next summer, Owen will be entitled to leave St James' Park on a free transfer. Owen earns in the region of £120,000 a week at Newcastle, whose owners are attempting to exercise wage restraint. Negotiations are continuing and remain positive in tone, but at an age when he should be reaching his peak - in spite of his recent history of injuries - Owen expects his present terms to be extended. Keegan, the Newcastle manager, has spoken repeatedly of the importance of securing his captain's future. The forward has been suffering from mumps this summer, but he scored seven goals in his final nine club games last season and is hoping to pick up where he left off. “The end of the season was great,” Owen said. “When I get into a rhythm and I'm playing regularly it's fine, but since I've been here it's been stop-start, with a lot of injuries. It's probably been the first time in my career it's been like that. “I had a few problems earlier on with hamstring problems, but it's been major things since I've been at Newcastle - six operations and none prior - so it was nice to finally get into a nice rhythm and score a few goals. That'll continue as long as I get on the pitch. “Towards the end of last season we beat Sunderland 2-0 and went seven games unbeaten and there was a real feel-good factor about the squad. We were buzzing. It was a cracking run. Hopefully we can begin the new season in the same way as we ended the last one. “We have quite a small squad, but a close-knit one and one with a lot of quality. It's a lovely honour to lead the team out.” Times are usually reliable as far as I remember. Can't blame him for not wanting a paycut, either.

Good player still. Should be able to get his head sorted better now with a new start. £3.5m is pretty good business really.
-
Damn, RIP. I'm sure i've read about Martins being particularly close to his mother, especially when he joined us, she moved with him to help him settle and everything. At his age too, must be a major blow.

Aimar, Woodgate... Modric? Being heavily linked with a player and then not getting them is much, much worse I reckon.
