Trips first touch and passing are out of this world. He often takes switches first time and plays that pass inside and springs us forward our relieves danger and kills a press. He reads the game so bloody well. He stops that thru ball 2-3x a match by just reading the passer and the ball. Schar is one of our best CB of all time. Trips is clearly our best fullback of all time and I’d honestly argue the both of them are the top 2 defenders we’ve ever had.

He’s gotta be called up one day. Sean and Declan doing the dirty work for Jude would be outrageous.

He was made for nights like last night, and it was clear as day from minute 1. He’s not the flash and silk of Bruno but he’s very much a hybrid of him, Longie and Joelinton in that role yesterday. He breaks up play, ball retention, he’s tactically switched on, and he’s up and down the pitch. Outstanding.

Also the all white CL kit is iconic at this point.

Can’t help but think we passed a mental block beating City at home a week ago and that really kicked on this week with this one being an even bigger test on the biggest stage with a massive ton of hype and press and we played them off the park. I always wondered if our mentality was missing either that 1 player who’s done it (besides Trips) or the experience of playing on the stage (and we’d suffer in CL this season as a result, could still happen) but we really rose to the occasion and am wondering if that is a jump off point for our overall season.

Miggy loves the Leazes End and I’ll never get tired of him peeling away to that corner with his knee slide and mental celebration with the fans

why is he even tweeting that?

Minteh does not lack confidence and he tries to shoot when he gets an inch of space. He’s going to be a very very good player. Important he keeps this up over this season.
-
He was outstanding imho. He played basically the Sean role on the left where he did all the dirty work and got up field when possible. Imagine a year under Howe man. He’s going to dominate people.
-
He was different class tonight and he’s been this way for a few weeks now. World class. Some of our lads were the best players on the pitch.
-
Teams may offer 100m but there’s prob only 1 club he’d leave us for.
-
Was convinced Jamie Carragher was going to mention Albert to Peter Schmeichel on CBS after they analyzed the Schar goal. Fab was world class tonight.
-
I saw the TNT highlights and the crowd noise for the goals, absurd. I’ve never in my life heard a noise that loud by our lot.
-
Every fucking time, Dan Burn. He just shows up and he plays his way of football and it fucking works.
-
In the post game on CBS he walked by the desk with his family. Kid was wearing it.
-
but that’s an Enrique hallmark at times. They control the ball for the sake of it and when you defend right they have no clue what to do with it. that attempt to Brighton us was absurd by the way. They played right into our press and our crowd. Once the press works early, and if we can get a goal, good night.

He was better than their CBs at everything.

Was convinced Jamie Carragher was going to mention Albert to Peter Schmeichel on CBS after they analyzed the Schar goal. Jamie had a smirk and he was in a bantering mood. Fab was world class tonight.

See an Ultra, give him a hug

I liked that ref there in the penalty VAR check. Saw it, made decision, changed his mind, and shook hand with the goalie. Moved on.

If someone approached my car and started tapping on my driver's side window and wasn't in distress or in need of help...and you come with some heat wanting to tell me off, we might just have to throw hands.

You guys are some aggressive rule following drivers over there - between the speed limits, drink, and texting. What a contrast to America

If he continues this form, I'd highly consider another year on loan there where he's playing most if not all matches, likely in a title winning side and back in CL.

No issue with Anderson starting as well, I think he's 100% proving himself and the more minutes are showing he's got a bright future at PL level.
