If this is more or less how he will play going forward, then he’s our box to box destroyer and ball carrier we’ve desperately needed. Put him next to a pure defensive holder (Kamara) and another 8 with more creative abilities and you’ve got a formidable trio. This likely brings the best out of Willock too who will be glancing into the box with late runs.

he’s def lost that energy he had under Rafa. And energy is the word I’m using because I can’t really put my finger on what made him look so damn good then pre injury. but he pressed and pushed and kept things ticking, his cool head near the box led to the goal and nearly our winner. also got to see him hit a trademark cross field ball that he was doing under Rafa too. I still think he’s a worthy squad player.

If you just saw him last night and never before you’d say he’s worth more than what we paid for him. He won the ball standing up, on the deck, in the air, held up play, drove forward intelligently and with power and pace, played brilliant one-twos. He was sensational and it almost looked completely effortless too like he’s been doing it his entire career.

I thought Longstaff played the pressing role perfectly tbh.

Big clubs pay random prices for players all the time - pricing is relative to the need of the club/buyer. Despite what Man United or Transfrmrkt say. It's literally that simple.

If we have to pay a premium because of desperation or who our owners are then so fucking be it. We are in a virtual crisis right now so paying 5-10m more for a player and we end up staying up is worth it. If we don't stay up then it's a calculated risk that needed to happen.

I respectfully disagree - I think Gini would be a fine addition and his ability to retain possession, keep things ticking, his work-rate and ability to pop up in the goals is exactly what we need. Not to mention developing his leadership abilities and overall play under and in some top top teams.

Gini's truly only dark period in his career seems to be the last final few game in our shit season before going down under Rafa.
