Damn daylight saving time. Here I'm all anxious for the game to start and now I have another 45 mins.

Whens kick off?

I thought we played well for most of the Blackburn game, apart some questionable defending and a glaring lack of finishing, but hopefully we can keep building on that performance. Not saying that we'll get anything though. It's almost my birthday so I'm hoping for a point, oh hell might as well ask for all three.

Bad news, that falls under the category of 'game we should win against s*** team on a horrific run'. Guaranteed failure. Who knows, with some bad luck that could even be the day we go into the dropzone. I feel your pain Kager. My two home games so far have been Man City(06/07) and Liverpool(07/08). I've yet to see us scoring at SJP. Here's hoping we get something although on paper it is a game we almost always shoot ourselves in the foot

I'm on my way from California to Newcastle for the first time in April. God I hope we win the Reading game.

Great player, shame about the injury. Although it always pissed me off the way commentators went on and on about him. Maybe that has to do with the fact that in the US our commentators are traditionally terrible. I remember one game where the guy was convinced that Ronaldo used a bad touch and pour control to fool the defender when it was just a bad first touch. One of the few he had that game, but to call a bad touch a good touch just because its Ronaldo is just plain stupid. Maybe I've held it against him a little too long, not his fault.

Very excited, almost made me forget that I'm at work

I used to coach his son's team, I'll see what I can do.

At least whoever it is we might get a nice honeymoon period out of it, maybe climb the table a little, usually happens.

I'm at work, how bad is it? Should I be embarrassed? As an American I hope I can avoid being lumped in with all the rest. Oh and in high school the soccer team got way more chicks than the football team, the football team in general were a bunch of tools, but I know what you mean.

Ok a guy at my work who admittedly knows nothing about "soccer" excepted that beckham plays it and there's a world cup every few years, asked that if there was a draft of every player in the world based entirely on skill and ability and not on shirt sales or sponsership deals, what number would Beckham be drafted? A typical American question, but I wanted to see what people thought.

I haven't really been paying attention to the England setup lately, but where's Rooney? Is he injured or suspended?

Every time I think that we've turned the corner on our season there's something like this. Sick to my stomach and I'm 9 time zones away, can only imagine what everyone else is feeling.
-
Yeah sounds right, that and I'm only 25, 26 in a few weeks. Real sharp on those numbers, good thing I work in accounting.

No i haven't been to St. James, although I very nearly wiped out my savings to get there for the games against Birmingham and West Ham, kind of glad I didn't. But I'll be there for sure next season. When I was growing up they really didn't show much of any English league matches so I didn't have any real connections to any single team, then I went to England when I was 13 or so and admittedly was in awe watching Shearer and from that I started following Newcastle. I'm 26 now and have been following the toon ever since. Most of my friends are Man U or Arsenal fans, just like everyone else over here it seems.
-
That's a good idea, I might have too. I have Shearer on the back of the last one i got. We'll have to see tf Gooch impresses and signs after the loan deal. i went to the Us game when they played Denmark and there were tons of Man U, Chelsea, and Pool jerseys and none of those teams really have much of anything to do with the US National team, especially the players that were there that day. Unfortunately illustrates the glory hunting attitude of the typical American fans. I however prefer the uncertainty and bouts of depression that come with following the toon. Does anyone know when the schedule for next season comes out, cause I'm planning on making it to a couple of games at St. James.

As an American I unfortunately am forced to agree with the majority of comments on this board concerning the lack of intelligence displayed by Americans when discussing "soccer". The guy who wrote this obviously has no class or style as I proudly display the black and white stripes whenever I get the chance and will be wearing them to the next US National game that I go to. I think Gooch will perform well for us, but the opinion that he is too good for us is utterly ridiculous. I just hope that he proves himself enough to get a full deal as I think he's the best American defender, which has been mentioned before isn't saying all that much.

So in two games agaisnt Chelsea we lose on a scuffed shot that falls straight to Drogba and a questionable free kick. Although still not where we want to be, that's a lot better than I would have predicted us to do a few months back.

In August who would have guessed that at this point in the season people would be clamoring for Sib's return.

Don't know if anyone saw this article, I just found it on the Fox Sports website and wanted to know what everyone thought. Here's the link: http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6214496
