Why did we have to wait for N'Zogbia? Obviously Wigan were still waiting for offers from various clubs because they thought the demand was high, back in June. The situation changes drastically since then, because we've gone for Marveaux and Liverpool signed Downing. Sunderland cannot afford the fees and therefore only Villa left. It did worth pointing out that Marveaux could be the first priority for Liverpool instead of Downing.
-
If you look retrospectively, yep. But back to the time before Marveaux's signed, would you take a gamble to wait for N'Zogbia, or just go for the safer option? It's not just about money, but the risk involved by giving up Marveaux.

He might have mentioned it as an example of a lie. It does means that it's "part" of the reason of his outburst, if not all.
-
I do think 60k a week for Enrique isn't that ridiculous. He is going the have the best years in his career and how on the earth would he accept the same wages? He can easily ask for higher wages next year. If money is really the reason for not signing the contract and outburst.
-
Who? Who? Who? Who? Who? Hey, at least Riise isn't that "who?"
-
Did Carrol not put in a transfer request when the club would not give him another improved contract ? He is "forced" to submit the request - some people do believe this.
-
He will only be sacked when it's obvious that we are going to relegate.
-
Would be interesting to know his wages at Villa. Who had been falling out with him a few years ago?
-
Just to repeat - Carroll is a very promising player but his injury risk are a lot higher than you guys think. Another injury to his legs could greatly reduce his leaping ability and then that's it. I think most people would agree that our squad has improved since relegation - including the sales of Carroll. Just that you cannot deny that WE COULD DO MORE. Say a bid of 20m for Hulk would please a lot of parties here - although I stand firmly against such a risky attempt. We could buy a new CB and have Williamson as our 3rd choice CB, can have a quality right winger, can have another ball-winning midfielder to partner Tiote and complement Cabaye, can have a much better RB than Simpson... I do hope we could sign a few more players, just I won't say I am too disappointed by what happens so far. To have players with Marveaux, Cabaye and Ba's quality, we probably have to spend around 25m.

But I still can't get it. I mean, it's reasonable to offer Barton reduced wages because of his history and he's aging. There is a "chance", no matter it's big or small, that Barton would accept because everyone can see the rationale behind. No matter how ridiculous it is, at least there is a point. That's is not the same to Enrique. Everyone, I mean, everyone including Cockney Mafia and Pardew, the player, the agent, all the other clubs...know that the only way to persuade Enrique to stay is to offer a wage increase. This is just a common sense. So to offer the same wage to Enrique, nevermind a reduced wages (this is too fucking ridiculous), just means that THE CLUB DOES NOT WANT ENRIQUE TO STAY and force him to explode/submit transfer request. I can't believe this. I really can't. In no way the club would want Enrique to leave, especially when he can't be sold for high fees and can leave for free within one year. We have to incur an extra 10m in order to replace him, which is a much higher incremental cost then giving him 80k, the highest wage currently earning by Coloccini.

Pardew is clearly putting out misleading messages man. Claiming we've offered Enrique a massive contract offer for this club. Enrique saying that they basically havent offered to increase his salary atall. You realise this means that Pardew is trying to present the idea to us fans that Enrique is lucky they didnt offer him a reduced salary, following being one of the best players for our club in the last couple of years. And you cannot see the BS ? What I read from the quote is that Pardew claims the club offered the best deal available to anyone (which probably means the same as Coloccini) while Enrique claims it is "not just about money". "They offered me money which I already have" could be interpret as "I got money but my ambition isn't fulfilled". Not blaming Enrique, just I think it is ridiculous that the club offered "reduced" wages to him. Can't be true.

It probably takes them another 20 years to have a strike force as good as now.
-
Officially the best national team in South America.
-
The only good thing is that we can sign a new left back now. There's no chance he will just running down his contract and leave for free next season. We will never see him wearing our black and white shirt anymore.
-
Official statement? Isn't that a bit over-the-top?
-
I am a bit amused by the over reaction. I mean, I am surprised that a few one here still believe he would stay before the outburst. I know he must be leaving so the outburst is kinda expected, just why do it on twitter? Is it that hard to just submit a request internally?
-
No matter he is right or wrong, why go public?
-
Who is nobby? Nolan? Solano? I think the outburst is related to the interest from Barca.
-
I don't think Harry can find a player to replace Modric directly, even with 27m. More likely it would be 2-3 young players. They would have to undergo a 2-3 years transition period in order to be back to their position now. Bale won't wait for that.
-
Playing VDV with only one centre midfielder is kinda suiciding imo.
-
At the moment we have Jonas, Marveaux and Barton who can play on the flanks. We can add one more winger but before that we have to ship out Routledge AND Raylor.
-
No, probably a left back or right back. We won't sign a winger unless Routledge has been sold.
-
We don't produce that many forwards, we have already blooded Pedro and given up on Bojan. Next forward in line that can reasonably make it is Deulofeu who's 16. (That's one of the reasons we have signed Femenía). That's why I said it's a bad transfer because you should keep Bojan instead of buying Sanchez and drop Pedro to the bench. What I think is Sanchez is the starting left wing for you, while Pedro would have time every match as a substitute. The trouble begins when it's obvious that Pedro plays a lot better than Sanchez (since he is a lot more adapted to your system) and people thinks Pedro should start and Sanchez dropped to the bench. the 38.5m spend are wasted again. In other words, the Zlatan case again. I actually thinks Zlatan could be a lot better in his 2nd season, but that's meaningless now.
