  1. The fact that Ireland cannot guarantee a starter at Villa is fxxking worrying. And I am not willing to "invest" any more years on so called "talented and troublesome" players. We've paid a huge cost, including a relegation, on Barton and to do the same on Ireland? Fxxk no.
  2. Finally up to what is expected from him due to his contract. The best since Woodgate?

    1. Other than against Liverpool, his contribution is very limited this season, and I can see a downward trend for his effort. 2. Put it in an other way - Phil Airey may be training very well and Pardew want to give the lad some praise. What's wrong with that then?

I would do the same if I know Ranger is extremely easy to get big-headed and complacency. He is not lacking confidence but the other way round.

Fail to mention his name in a quote = shit management?
  6. Good deal to be honest. He doesn't worth 18m, cannot form any effective partnership with other strikers. Welbeck/Gyan is a good partnership and if the 18m is well invested in other positions (i.e. defense) that would be a very strong team.
  7. Spurs cannot offer 30m unless they can secure Champ League place. That's too much for a gamble.
  8. 40m. But that's not impossible. I can see some clubs doing this summer since later such kinda mega bids will no longer be allowed under the financial balancing rule.
  9. 6m is much more reasonable. Still a def-no.
  10. If and only if we can get rid of Xisco and Ranger (loan). In that case, "ok".
  11. Just checked his wiki, cost Wolfsberg 10m from Marseille 15 months ago, just featured in 15 league games, no goals. Is he really good? Any serious injury last year? I am not feeling well about this transfer.

True. Probably no more incomings for this January. how exactly does us having bid for a player and he doesn't want to come = no incomings? The club is only looking for bargain deals and not panic buys. It isn't easy to find another Williamson/Routledge - there aren't lots of bargaining deals in the market.

Exactly. To me "wage demand too high" is definitely a valid reason for turning down the deal. We have had too many silly deals before starting from the Souness reign. Remember those crazy contracts for Owen, and for other "squad players" signed at that time, i.e. Duff, Barton, Butt, Martins, Nolan, Smith? Nevermind those players like Cacapa, Rozehnal, Beye...

isn't that how football clubs, and NUFC, have always worked? Remember the days of Shepherd?

just assuming that, if we signed Larsson for 1.5m for 45k, will you still happy for that? figures are fictitious but I think most of the people here would only prefer Larsson if that's clearly a "bargain". if not, Larsson isn't that attractive tbh.

Wonder how much wages he's asking for?

Dave, our wage bill did nearly force the club into bankruptcy if Ashley isn't financing the club himself and we are back to the premiership immediately. How could that not a serious matter?

So to be short, we are just starting to negotiate the contract with Larsson after a fee has been agreed? The "info" that he'll sign within days are bollocks?

His attitude has already ruined his career in Southampton - and I'm not really surprised if his does it once again here.

We got a billionaire new owner already? Am I missing something?

But why?! Cos he's a right-winger, you nit. So is Jonas. Duff is a left winger and he plays on the right, Downing and Johnson have too. It's not their natural position, but it's not exactly 'hard to imagine'. Because he is not a pacey-type winger. Similarly, I guess, Barton won't play that brilliant on the left. Yes it's just my feeling, Larsson may prove me wrong, but to me this signing is the end of Guthrie rather than Jonas.
