  1. Probability of someone willing to pay £285.8m for buying Newcastle from Ashley? I think it's close to zero.

    Probably this statement still hold?

    Buying to Sell

Otter, the first thing we have to do in order to earn a profit is to make the players shine. They have to be productive, contribute a lot to our success and let others know they may worth to make an insane bid. If the offer is not insane, we can still have an option to keep the players. Thus the players must fit into our plan right in the beginning. Looking for players with resale value is not contradictory to looking for players that can improve our squad. It just makes the job even harder for our scouts - but that's what they should do for a long long time. Carroll is the best example of how the plan works. For the sum of 35m very few people will question Ashley why. And to make things easier, Carroll has asked for a ridiculous contract / made a transfer request. We did not need to set-up Carroll in ALL our game play in our first half of the season. Yes it works, but is it necessary to do so? We don't know, but we performed "ok" after the sale of Carroll which makes me wonder what would happen if we play a more balanced system right in the beginning. But if we didn't purposely make him shine, singing praise, new No.9, new Shearer, new England centre forward, Euro 2012 starter...etcetc...how on the earth would Liverpool make a 35m offer? Another example for you, Julio Baptista. I am not saying this plan will work for us because it hugely depends on whether the profit will be reinvested and whether our manager is good enough to handle the high turnover of key players. But if we aren't getting an Abramovich, this is the only way we can financially recover and back to the business.

    hmmm....Coloccini?

To be fair it's meaningless. saying something like "we will bring in 5 stars" now does no good to our team. Just let time tells.
  6. Portsmouth who are now financially secure and in a comfortable position in the Championship? Back on their feet in less than a season, despite having a third of our gate. They got relegated having won an FA Cup and come within a missed penalty of winning another. We got relegated having won f*** all. I'd swap. Wullie, you serious?
  7. The performance-based contract can't go to THAT far. It only works when the player is quite confident that his performance do help the club to achieve better results. If the player does not have confidence on the manager/club (which is obviously our case) and the club is going to be mediocore (probably due to not enough investment by the owner), he will simply walk away to find another clubs. I would say 40k ppw + 500k performance bonus for European qualification is a lot fair for Barton.
  8. So it's like....20k ppw? Serious?
  9. That kinda makes 99 % of fullbacks back up players surely? He is not a fullback. He is a winger.
  10. Not quick enough to be consistently posing a threat to the opponents like Aaron Lennon. He's not slow for certain.

Missing Best is a new low in my life.

    Dan Gosling

    Source? No, just feel like.
  13. He is not quick enough to outpace the opponents. Decent back up but nothing more unless his acceleration can be improved. Dunno whether this is possible though.

    Dan Gosling

    Close to retirement?
  15. I'd like to see him given a chance in our 1st team. Would be nice to think him and Krul could be the future. To be honest, I am not impressed by Krul either.
  16. I'm starting to have unrealistic hope on Forster.

    Peter Løvenkrands

The reason why Lovenkrands was starting is because Ranger has to be on the bench.
  18. I still think we have a chance to extend his contract before August. A couple of signings in the summer could change his mind, especially now Liverpool has no Euro competition.
  19. No European Competition for Liverpool in the next season is a massive, massive hit on their financial status. Of course I know they got a wealthy chairman but they do have a chance to be banned from further Euro Compeition under the new financial fairness rule.

    Kevin Nolan

The problem is without Carroll being the target man and setting up chances, Nolan fails to score goals. What's the point playing him then?
  21. I think it's already the best one I've seen since the Solano era...

    Nile Ranger

Even though he has brilliant potential, his attitude is a great problem which may ruin his career. Not exactly the same but, he reminds me Olivier Bernard.
  23. Nani's really crying and his knee has to be consolidated. I guess it could be some kinda fracture?
