Yea it’s fucking bollocks if PSR doesn’t exist. I really agree with that.
-
yea likely he will stay till 30 now, unless Real Madrid or Barca steps in. hence in the next few windows, if we encounter the PSR issue again, Miley / Gordon will likely be the one to be sold.
-
I detest that way of operation too but there’s no choice. Man City has my full support for the legal case
-
The reason why Joe is just worth 30m is that we already hold for too long….. I know people still hasn’t realised this but Bruno is probably too late to sell already, same case as Joelinton. Now tell me once Joe and Bruno started to decline two to three years later, where is the capacity we needed to replace them? No. There’s none, unless we are able to find a few more Minteh, who we are only able to find once in what? 30 years? we won’t be breakeven this year. We already started at a loss after player amortisation, and same for next year. The picture is really not as rosy as you think bro. you either sacrifice the short term league position for a more stable / healthy long term growth, or vice versa, and hope the extra revenue from ECL could cover that. The latter route involves much higher risk but seems we already made the choice.
-
That’s exactly what PSR limit your growth path and you have to sell your best players at max value, reinvest into a few more prospects and wait till their value maxed out again. In fact it’s very similar to the Spurs model, how they become the Big 6. Of course Spurs wanted to keep Carrick, Modric Bale etc but they didn’t, instead they fully made good use of the proceeds and invested into much more prospects and youth team. keeping hold of your best players for too long will only limits your capacity to improve your team for the next few windows. Of course we all wants to have the best team available for the upcoming season so we have the best shot for league position but that’s very risky for long term squad building. That why I said we better hope Howe did a magic again or we would be in great trouble.

I genuinely won’t say what happened last June is “FINE”. If that’s fine to you, fine. If that happens in my company, the PIC will be accountable and sacked.
-
You have to change your mindset if you really want to comply with PSR. It’s the squad value that you have to manage, instead of just focusing on the quality of starting eleven sounds bullshit, but that’s what it should be under PSR. Anyway just stop it here
-
Nah stop it. I don’t want to continue here. Basically everyone just try to ignore the PSR issue. Wait till next June then. Last summer we all said we would be fine, trust the management, we wouldn’t over spent. No worries. What happened last June? Oh yea this time they said “we won’t let it happen again”, but the amortised loss is still here isn’t it? We started this financial year with a huge loss again. It’s just hard facts.

That’s what I explained in the Minteh thread. The original plan by Ashworth is to sell Joe instead of extending his contract. Once Ashworth on leave, Howe and Staveley just scrapped the plan. I won’t repeat here. Pretty sure we could at least recoup around 30m which means we don’t need to sell both Minteh and Anderson. I don’t really care about Anderson anyway. That said it’s also true we will have a weaker squad this season, we may not get the three points against Soton. What we have instead is a solid starting RW whose value can keep on rising which will be good for us in long term. Unless Man City won the case and put an end to the bullshit PSR, this long term / short term problem will keep on coming back to hit us hard.

You have to wonder why he is dropped, that likely he is deemed not good enough / worse than the likes of Badiashile and Disasi We might dodged a bullet
-
I would stay away from Disasi. Was the worst CB for Chelsea last season.
-
Should have gone for Tapsoba instead. Get it done ASAP
-
the ship has sailed. No point selling him now, we can’t find buyers anyway after we increased his wages going back last Jan, when we still can avoid the damage, then yes.
-
I genuinely don’t think breaking the bank for Guehi is the only answer we have
-
exactly what I said mate, hope there is better targets. But then as I said mathematically it doesn’t make sense we have 100m budget this season given our PSR status. Anyway.
-
exactly, 25m pounds is very affordable, we should have gone for him, but we didn’t. Hence why I think we don’t have that 2-30m extra I.E. Douglas is bullshiting. Happy to be proven wrong.
-
If we do have 30m left after the Guehi deal, I would be very surprised we didn’t go for Gruda. Hope we have better target then.
-
1. We do have money to spend, around 6-70m. We have spent some on Osula already. 2. If we do have extras, we should have heard some news or rumours re RW already. None. 3. We won’t have outgoings. We have been trying our best to move players before June and we failed. Why would you think we can suddenly do it now? Just like the Almiron deal, we have to accept close to nothing price if we want to move them. Probably just wages saving, like the Targett loan.
-
Not worried, kinda expected, if you really studied the impact of FFP / PSR.
-
Heard Munda has a good game?
-
It could be a compliment to Howe, if you think our team is not good enough for a top 6 finish. I am just pointing out that a lot of people here still think we should play like the top 4 season, and use that as a benchmark for predicting this years results
-
no fucking way we can afford both Guehi and a new RW.
-
Personnel wise we are better than last season for certain. Tonali was a very big miss and Kelly looks a good upgrade ion Lascelles. The question in fact lies on Howe. People assuming with a fresh team we can play like THAT season again hence we can finish top 4. That’s a big assumption, and also that’s why so many people are frustrated by the performance against Soton - we still looks like the team at the end of last season
-
The ironic point is he may be right. PSG wants to get rid of Ugarte just one season, and their midfield last year was one of the worst among the top clubs. It has to be at least a yellow alert for you, if not red.
-
That’s not ridiculous. Remember how we negotiate with Liverpool for Carroll?
