the ship has sailed. No point selling him now, we can’t find buyers anyway after we increased his wages going back last Jan, when we still can avoid the damage, then yes.
-
I genuinely don’t think breaking the bank for Guehi is the only answer we have
-
exactly what I said mate, hope there is better targets. But then as I said mathematically it doesn’t make sense we have 100m budget this season given our PSR status. Anyway.
-
exactly, 25m pounds is very affordable, we should have gone for him, but we didn’t. Hence why I think we don’t have that 2-30m extra I.E. Douglas is bullshiting. Happy to be proven wrong.
-
If we do have 30m left after the Guehi deal, I would be very surprised we didn’t go for Gruda. Hope we have better target then.
-
1. We do have money to spend, around 6-70m. We have spent some on Osula already. 2. If we do have extras, we should have heard some news or rumours re RW already. None. 3. We won’t have outgoings. We have been trying our best to move players before June and we failed. Why would you think we can suddenly do it now? Just like the Almiron deal, we have to accept close to nothing price if we want to move them. Probably just wages saving, like the Targett loan.

Not worried, kinda expected, if you really studied the impact of FFP / PSR.

Heard Munda has a good game?
-
It could be a compliment to Howe, if you think our team is not good enough for a top 6 finish. I am just pointing out that a lot of people here still think we should play like the top 4 season, and use that as a benchmark for predicting this years results
-
no fucking way we can afford both Guehi and a new RW.
-
Personnel wise we are better than last season for certain. Tonali was a very big miss and Kelly looks a good upgrade ion Lascelles. The question in fact lies on Howe. People assuming with a fresh team we can play like THAT season again hence we can finish top 4. That’s a big assumption, and also that’s why so many people are frustrated by the performance against Soton - we still looks like the team at the end of last season
-
The ironic point is he may be right. PSG wants to get rid of Ugarte just one season, and their midfield last year was one of the worst among the top clubs. It has to be at least a yellow alert for you, if not red.
-
That’s not ridiculous. Remember how we negotiate with Liverpool for Carroll?
-
Brentford won’t quote that price since they know we have that amount of money to bid for Guehi. 70m is more realistic
-
Pretty sure Guehi is going to replace Schar, so yes, that’s the area for improvement identified by Mitchell / Howe. We won’t start Schar / Guehi together, we also won’t keep our record signing on bench. Schar must be the one going to sit.
-
you can say so. I just think as the one who knows the squad best at this moment, Howe has the right to push for the deal and Mitchell gotta respect this. I ain’t blaming Howe for the pushing.
-
that’s why I said it’s Howe who is pushing the deal.
-
that’s what shadow puppet said, which I thought would means the end of this deal.
-
Soton double teamed Gordon the whole game. Of course he couldn’t have a good game.
-
Nah just offer 80m and get him. Couldn’t care less. It should be Howe’s problem to take since he forced the deal to go through. Why should the fans worry for that? Fully expect Almiron to start next game btw.
-
Personal opinion only but I don’t think it really matters that much to have a right footed CB playing as RCB. If that CB is gifted with football ability, he can still string the pass with his left
-
I don’t understand the negativity here. May be people expected us to crush Soton easily but I am very pleased we are able to execute pressing for once and steal a goal, and then able to grind it out till the end. You couldn’t ask for more given Schar being sent off unfairly. Krafth and Kelly both look reliable. Livra able to handle the pressure for 90 mins. Hall got a lesson but redeem himself with that goal line save. Pope back on form after a disastrous season. Joe in beast mode, finally looks fresh. Bruno didn’t lose his position like last season. I have lots of positives to take from this match. Probably the only negatives are the front three - Murphy a bit unlucky but he did fuck all within his limited playing time. But that’s not on Howe. May be last season was so disastrous (especially on the defence side) that my expectation is lower. I think Howe and the players did pretty well and shouldn’t get any stick, except Schar
-
Yea we won’t appeal. So Schar out for three games
-
It is not about “who we want”, it’s about “who is here during the process”. Of course I want Joe for yesterdays game when we need to grind it out with 10 players left. But the PSR issue force us to sell our players before they completely lose their market value, which means we should always see our favourite players left at their last prime years. That’s how shit the PSR limit is, but we have no choice. By keeping Joelinton, we will have a stronger team this season but weaker in the future, which puts further pressure on Howe and the team to achieve top 4 finish this season in order to cover the PSR hole and have extra funds for a new RW. I totally understand as a fan we should always hope for the best of the club, and that we should always target the highest possible league position and challenge for trophies. The problem is the PSR rules completely change the game, the squad building and the risk management model is totally different compare to the past. This actually leads to further conflict of interest between the sporting director (who should oversee the long term squad building) and the manager (who would always want to have the strongest team asap in order to keep his job). I won’t cover that here. Of course I want my favourite player to stay in our club till they are finished at the top level football. The days are gone.

Fuck. Not the fifth time.
