We love our clauses. Surely if there was a clause we would have heard about it by now.
-
And his leadership and goals? I suppose they won't be missed either? They will be missed if he leaves, but I'll ask again what should the club do to keep Nolan? What would be seen as acceptable? We don't know who is being unreasonable. Are Nolans demands too much? Are the club offering a pittance?
-
As long as he is at the club it should be Nolan as club captain. IMO his deputy should be Colo.
-
I understand the idea of keeping them both, I wish we could whilst adding quality to the squad. But what do we do to keep them? Do we give Barton a 4 year contract (if thats what he's asking for of course) do we give Nolan what he wants? For the people who think this is a bad situation with Barton and Nolan what would you see as reasonable to keep them. All we have heard is from the players side, maybe the club are being bastards we don't know but we can't pay over massive wages and long contracts. Look at Smith, there is every chance in a couple of seasons that Nolan would be on massive wages with plenty of time left on his contract and contributing jack shit. People will be calling Nolan a cunt just like they are calling Smith a cunt. In a few seasons we could have a situation where Barton and Nolan are doing fuck all for us whilst earning more than a decent wage. At a maximum I see Nolan lasting another 2 seasons for us which sees us to the end of his contract. I'd be happy for him to run that down.
-
Nobody knows the exact ins and outs of Nolan & Bartons contract but I'm sure most will agree that we cannot be held to ransom by our players even if they are our better players? If its true that Barton wants the 4 year deal instead of 3 should we give in because he had a good season and is one of our better players. Same for Nolan, proved a lot wrong on here, me included but he can't hold the club to ransom. For the people on this forum that want to keep Barton and Nolan what should we do to keep them. In an ideal world I would like them to sign, ideally again to fall into the wage structure set, I don't think they are our best players but given their influence and experience and their last season I would be happy to see them on the highest that we are willing to pay players.

Team spirit was important when it was all we had, now we've got the base of a good team and the means to bring in some good European class talent which top trumps team spirit and s*** players for me. True without that kind of togetherness in the fizzy pop league we may have struggled, but its not as if we hear week in week out the togetherness of the Man Utd and they haven't done too badly have they. But who are part of this clique anyway? If loads of players are big mates with these two and are influenced by them then I would be worried a bit. If for example Enrique is big mates with them and its the final straw for him, will it unsettle Jonas and Colo? I'm worried about a domino effect.
-
My biggest concern is the harmony in the camp, could this upset the team spirit? There are better players out there whether we can sign them is another matter. I think the club are trying lay their mark. They are trying to tell players we don't get push around and I think they are trying to stick to their business plan. I think whilst Ashely is here we have to accept the days of paying daft wages whoever it maybe has gone, it may see us miss out on a few targets but as long as we improve the squad I don't see a problem. Come September 1st and all we have signed is Taylor, Long and Pratley and I'll have a better view. But at the moment I see us almost sign Cabaye (who by all accounts is a good seems a good buy) and be strongly linked with Gervinho and Gameiro. Now if we lose Barton and Nolan but sign these 3 I'll be more than happy. I'll also happily sacrifice Barton and Nolan for Enrique as Enrique will be the most difficult to replace.
-
I think once he does leave us his career will go on a downward sprial. At times he looks as if he's got the talent, but needs to work hard, by the sounds of what is coming out of the club he hasn't got that dedication to improve. It doesn't look like he'll become a good player with us. He is 4th choice as it stands, we are looking for a top notch forward and are likely to play with only 1 out and out striker next season so his chances will be very limited. If he goes then I don't think it will affect us at all.
-
Its your opinion its fact. Enrique is an ambitious player he wants to player European football, I am pretty confident if somehow we made Europa League next season then we'd have a great chance of keeping him, but we haven't and as much as I hate to say it, at the moment there are better prospects out there for him. IMO he is not irreplaceable, but its not going to be easy or cheap to find a better replacement. Given other areas of the team are crying out for improvements the ideal scenario for us is for him to sign a new contract.

My new fav. Wow! Just Wow!

OMG1111!!!!111 This is my fav by far. Awesome

The real test is FM though, I cannot comment on that.

Not bad, I'm manager of PSV and signed him for £10 million to play upfront with Affelay, Affelay is the better player even though their overall rating are pretty much the same. I'm about 5 seasons in and started the game when the game 1st came out, only when PSN went down did I start using the save again. On the basis of FIFA he'd be a very good signing for us
-
This but, Schmeichel Zanetti -- Sammer -- Maldini -- Carlos otherwise the same.
-
In football Hughton earned a lot of respect for what he did at Newcastle, in heloing steady the ship and get promotion back to the big time at first attempted, I think his stock actually improved for be sacked which did seem very harsh at the time. As someone has said, maybe he is holding out for a Premiership job and haven't even bothered going for the Championship ones. I wouldn't be shocked if he is in the running for the Fulham job but I'll be expecting McClaren to take that one.
-
Brilliant. Quality. I like!
-
Surely if he came here and didn't show much interest and flopped because of it his next move would be back to France where he has to start over again. I understand that he has a first choice and thats a team that can offer European football but it doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good player for us. Obviously he and Gervinho are our top targets, if we fail we move on, should our next targets then say oh well fuck off Newcastle you wanted Gameiro and Gervinho, I'm nobodys 2nd/3rd/4th choice. I'm looking for a new job at the moment, I've got two applications on the go, I know which one I prefer but if that doesn't work out then fine I would still give the same commitment to the other. We don't personally know Gameiro so there is no saying how he would react if we were his only options. If we are that bad a move for him in his own mind he will stay and play Champions League football next season putting himself in the shop window for possibly one of the elite teams in Europe. Either way going on the hype surrounding him and his record this season I'll be happy if he signs for us.
-
Not that I want to be fair to him, but in his defence other than Stam none of those really left much of a hole in the team. Wasn't Stam replaced by an aging Laurent Blanc who wasn't nowhere near the level of when at his best.

Maybe Vince can start an XFIFA. DeJong will be World Champ at something in no time. Finishing move the scissor, set up with the kung foo chest kick. You can win the match by scoring more goals or eliminating your opponents until they can't carry on. I had a game on the Amiga like that before, some medieval miss mash of American Football, football and chopping heads off. Mutant League Football & Mutant League Hockey were awesome. I remember Mutant League Football but its a different game that the one I'm thinking of. Brutal Football doesn't sound familiar either. I remember after the game you could regenerate some of your players, they would go into some wierd booth/contraption and 'repair' towards the later rounds as games got tougher you couldn't regenerate fully, so one or two hits would see you players head fly off. Very frustrating.

Thats fair then. Like someone said, its like a bad film. How can people say things like that and get away with it. He's pretty much said there that the vote had nothing to do with the bid. I feel the only way this gets better is if big nations pull out of FIFA, which is unlikely. Unless the sponsers get together and form another association which again is unlikely. So unfortunately we are going have to put up with this kind of crock for a lot longer. Is UEFA governed in the same kind of way?
-
Surely most of us wouldn't recognise Cheikh M'Bengue if he came up to us and asked us to borrow a few quid like? Even if you do follow French football, since we been linked I've seen a few photos of him but I would not be able to recognise him at an airport with loads of other people around to.

I assume that only the country that they are registered in could take action? All these allegations of bribery and corruption must be investigated outside FIFA. Surely it would be deemed a criminal act? So if found guilty they will have the law answerable to not just sanctions from FIFA? Surely FIFA have legal governance that they have to adhere to, regardless of their business they are still a company, even charities are accountable to law, but there has been no mention so far about a 3rd party investigation. Will it take a member associating to request such an investigation.
-
Are Fifa answerable to anybody other than their sponsers? Can any authority like the EU or a particular Government step in and investigate? This is piss poor, none of these guys can be trusted.
