The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Frank in at Tottenham
The College Dropout replied to cp40's topic in Football
Arne Slot going would be a huge loss for wor Minteh lad. Slot is a massive advocate for the lad at Feyenoord. That attitude around youth will be great at Liverpool. They've got a young crop there that could be special. Liverpool might need to be content with being a little off the pace for a season or two in the league. -

There's a deep-seated rot in Chelsea much like Manchester United. It won't disappear with a new manager or a new striker IMO. Spurs & Villa don't have that deep-seated rot which makes them more dangerous over the medium term. -
It's not a multi-club model that as far as I know with Vitesse. It's underhand dealings.

Too inconsistent and not enough heart. They could win 4 of their remaining 6 fixtures. But which 4? No idea. -

Btw Wesley Fofana is equal parts lucky and unlucky. 7 knee injuries and a broken leg. But a contract until 2029. -

Agreed. One huge advantage is they are never far off a mental collapse. And they have bad injuries too. -

I only want Europa because of the extra revenue and co-efficients. I absolutely do not expect us to be able to win it. And it's more detrimental to league form than Conference League. Conference League we should be able to win it. And pre-Christmas it offers an excellent opportunities to give minutes to youngsters and squad players. -

I’d be delighted with any European competition. Europa is great but we’ll probably not win it. Conference is less exciting from a sporting perspective but great away trips and a realistic chance of winning. the first trophy is the hardest. We just need to win it. -
Jackson has good movement tbf

Chelsea have had good results and performances against "good" sides -
Isak is still gassing not long after the hour mark. Having him play those last 20 minutes knackered increases his risk of injury. Good that we can take him off for Wilson in those last 10-15 this weekend if we can.

10 goals and 10 assists is top stuff tbf.

Aye. Ole did a solid job for some time just creating a functional low-block and then asking the stars to go win the game. Got the best out of Bruno Fernandes. Had a good Rashford. His biggest mistake was pissing off Lukaku and favouring Martial. -

If we finish top 7 and above Chelsea/West ham etc. we'll qualify for Europe. The FA Cup final is after the final league games right? Finishing 6th and having to wait til after the FA Cup final to find out what comp we'll be in would suck. Especially if Man U win it. -

Tbf he made a valid point. If he thought HBA was going to play the same position as Jonas, why would he sign another player on the same wages? As a man with no ambition to succeed? How come Freeman is so highly rated? Palace's policy of buying top talents in the Champo isn't going to scale for them. It's something we should do mind. -
This often isn't possible. especially as it's just a "loan". Les Ferdinand spoke about this on the Overlap. Managers push for players all the time. The best situation (for a loaning club) is to have "feeder clubs" or the multi-club model where there is control vertically. You will not get full buy-in any other way. Second bolded - i think this is true throughout football. Another Overlap reference - Carragher spoke to that Liverpool's Edwards some time ago. Asked him about what's the key to a successful transfer policy. His response was to the reasoning of "having the right relationships with agents" It's a poorly run club but I think that's the primary reason Barca have recently made Deco some type of Director. He was/is a football agent with A1 contacts across Portugal and Brazil. A large part of Madrid's recent success is picking up South Americans (Fede, Vini, Rodrygo etc.) and they have a particular guy (forget his name) who is plugged into that market with A1 relationships. We are year 2/3 in this build. We have a long way to go to build the best loan system. City have their multi-club model. Roman bankrolled Vitesse on the low etc. This will take time. Edit: There is also no planet Owners and leadership really want to do loans. Particularly of other clubs kids. They do it because it could get them some quality they would not otherwise have. Or to help with a short-term goal (survival, promotion etc.). If neither is on the cards, they won't want the player or to use him. Might as well use their own Lewis Miley.

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

Most definitely. And I think he will. But I wouldn’t mind an FFP hack that see’s him elsewhere for 1-2 seasons to continue his development. Best to build some relationships in Serie A. -

If we sell him for £25m with a buy back of £30m that would be great for us. -
So glad Carlo’s boy mudded this guy annd his team again.

Bernardo Silva and Foden are great players. But Silva in particular is a cog. What makes KDB a standout player is he’s seemingly allowed to go off script and rifle one from 30 yards or just dominate a game. But he’s a super team player.

He said it at the time. He scored in both the Super Cup & Carling Cup final. Pep said Palmer would get minutes but inferred if they got a good enough offer - it would be Palmer's decision. Pep operates a "no sad faces" policy. If players want to leave, they go. Palmer wanted more minutes than he thought he would get so he left. The real issue is that Palmer got so few minutes last season and wasn't necessarily in-line to get the minutes he wanted this season. The big mistake City made was the no buyback clause but I think they should be outlawed anyway. Same thing with % fo next transfer fees for clubs that finish above the buying club.

In those days.. I don't think it did. When you hear players talk about Mourinho (I think it was him or AVB or Wenger that comment was a sly dig at) - he didn't spend ages on tactics and systems.

Nah. Not from a transfer perspective anyway.
