In nearly all circumstances I want the best for players that leave us. At the end of the day they are people like me and you doing they best they can to support their families. I thought Gini was pea hearted when it mattered for us but always seemed a decent lad and happy he was utilised better at Liverpool and has had a good career. Never had any issues with Sissoko. He was a limited player but he never hid, never shirked responsibility and always seemed to try his best. No problem with players using us as stepping stones if they do their best. Only player I’ve genuinely not wanted to do well after leaving us is Michael Owen.

Lots of African lads gone to Saudi. Less of an issue.

This was my thought when I saw a comp.

I don’t expect him to start 35 games this season. Probably not even 20. A dozen starts and regular time off the bench I see unless an injury forced him to play much more.

People are conflating things. Loyalty bonuses are one thing. In the scenario a player is earning 100k at a club. With 2 years left and the club want him tk leave but the buying club is only offering £50k per week. To facilitate the deal the player may ask to be compensated for the loss of income for the next 2 years. Can be paid upfront or the normal duration of the contract. Sometimes players are happy to just take the pay cut.

Aye but it’s not really similar. Shaw was a proper premier league regular and player. A somewhat distinguished left back. Hall is not. According to transfrmarkt and what I’ve seen on YouTube. He’s not a specialist leftback too. His PL appearances have been at LB, LM and LWB. And youth team at CM. I wonder if we see him playing multiple positions.

It won’t happen now. But I’d prefer Olise

Glad to have another fan in the team. Fee is crazy. But he looks a massive talent.

If Hall is £30m. No sell on clauses please.

Lavia was a regular when fit and a standout performer. I noticed him. Hall - not so much. Not to say he won’t be a fantastic player. The fee is just wow to me.

Yeh I have doubts over his fitness. But if the fees are similar he’s a much surer bet than Hall.

The contract thing is true and contributed to a lower fee. But the equivalent of less than 8 full games , in a bad sad, no outstanding performances he’s unproven. Again tbf I think City sold a U21 GK for £20m but at least he has won the U21 euros as a starter. Lavia went for £10m. we can agree to disagree. But £30m is Brazy to me.

Tierney was fit for 90% of last season. He just wasn’t fancied. He’s fit right now and didn’t make the bench.

Livramento is far more proven than Hall. Hall is similar to Livra pre Soton which was a £5m fee or similar.

Watched a Hall comp. Looks a baller. Pass off both feet. Looks like he’s actually a midfielder. Don’t expect he can defend much. Very little first team football. Looks a real talent. But anything over £20m seems excessive to me. The Miranda lad looks ready for first team football. His highlights are full of actual defending. But shows some good ability going forward. I like that he’s tall and seems a defender first. I like Burns profile I just think he’s not great.

Uefa comps have the 5 year rule. Pl won’t introduce that until next year. No idea but other league rules.

Don’t know why they let back on at HT. I suppose it was already gone then but still. I remember vividly when Wilson did his ACL (can’t remember which time) he did similar. Came back on - tried to keep playing. About 6 high profile ACLs already.

But have you seen much of him to be confident in that? Lots of people seem super hot on him and I’m struggling to understand why. I was a bit Livra fan. And a big Joao Pedro fan. But I’ve seen them ball out.

Have people seen much of Hall? i saw him a few times for Chelsea last season. Didn’t stand out. Looked decent.

Nah it wasn’t the usual rumour. It was straight ‘close to signing Tonali’ - deal agreed in principle with all parties. It took awhile to confirm but the rumours started at 80% completion of the transfer. You can tell both sides didn’t want it to come out until it was all but certain to happen. Barnes and Livra there were numerous bids. Weeks between them. Sounds like we heard about it about 50% through completion. I think we were linked to both before we heard about any bids so actually a much lower %.
