Sorry - meant points deduction. Transfermarkt & The Athletic are as good as you'll get for confirming fees imo. They have £20m. You have to figure Forest where in a FFP hole too. So whatever fee we gave them needed to cover Vlad's remaining amortisation cost. Anderson would cost a fee within the accounting period (don't know if it's the full 1/5 or not). And the the actual FFP hole too.
-
Bigger issue is tha he's not been great. Plenty of time mind.
-
Old format was almost always boring though. Rarley had more than 3 or 4 matches of consequence.
-
Used it to avoid a fine. Which we did.
-
Don't get all your money apparently. Not confirmed. But it is clsoe to the figure reported by The Athletic and Transfermarkt. The "more to it" is it's a FFP workaround for both clubs. Most of us thought the Anderson £35m was too high and it was. We also overpaid for this lad. Where we missed the trick, everyone else signed youngsters with potential to hold or increase value. Forest played a blinder, they signed a first-team player. Villa did a good swap deal with Chelsea too for the Dortmund fullback.
-
If multiple clubs are in for him, the wages thing can't be true.
-
And we paid £20m for Vlad. Combining the deals makes sense. £35m for Anderson sounds impressive. £15m for Anderson + Vlad was a subpar deal then and even worse deal now. It got us over the June 2024 hump. Beleive he's on a 5-year deal. He's costing us in the region of £4-£7m per year. That's a lot for someone that never ever plays. I'm hoping he can turn his career around like Sels.

Financial Fair Play / Profit & Sustainability
The College Dropout replied to Mattoon's topic in Football
It's an accounting measure that predates PSR. The cost of academy's is already covered (and excluded from PSR correctly). The system works well for youngsters imo. Without PSR Anderson is probably sitting on our bench. Now he's really establishing himself as a good PL player. -

Absolutely delighted with PSR both of these. Spurs stadium and location drives their revenue more than CL football. Cheapest season ticket £428, most expensive £2367. Levy has hit the belly. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/media/yjsmqb4u/2024-2025-season-ticket-pricing.pdf -
One bad thing about the new format is it's difficult to understand the dynamics because of so many clubs. Celtic actually have a great chance of making the play-offs. The seeded play-offs means far less dead rubbers. That middle chunk want to finish as high as possible.
-
The new CL format is way better than the old one - sorry. City & PSG is a must win for both teams. The loser is in danger of going out or having a very tough tie in the play-off. Real also in jeapardy. Praying Villa end up in the play-offs. And that they get through. I think that does them in for the top 5. Celtic at home is a banker though.

Champ is having a mare. Going to keep swinging.

I do believe clubs actively ‘shop’ certain players. And obviously agents do too. If we weren’t going to renew him, it would be in everyone’s best interests to find him a club asap. again love the bloke and happy that he’s here. But financially I think we should’ve moved him on.

Newcastle United 1-4 Bournemouth (18/01/25)
The College Dropout replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Bournemouth press the 6 aggressively. Either tactical or players deciding themselves, Bruno came deep to start play. People can say Bruno holds the ball for too long but he's better under pressure than Tonali. If Bruno can evade a press we immediately have a numerical advantage, -
And also.. even I get tired of repeating the same things.

Yes actually

Low wages - fairly high revenue.

Miguel Almirón (now playing for Atlanta United)

But this gets done imo. -

If we aren’t going to replace Almiron then I reckon Howe might want him to stay. Howe probably think this squad has a fighting chance of qualifying for CL or Europa. Losing squad players that will contribute isn’t going to help unless they are replaced. We did it with Shelvey mind. We were fortunate we didn’t have any major injuries until Willock near the very end. -
Similar to Miley where athleticism isn’t a strength with Mainoo. Doesn’t know the game/position well enough to compensate yet. Still has a lot to develop physically too.
-
Also need more players capable of playing CB. Different profiles for the wide CB roles too. From what I've seen De Ligt and Maguire might be your best CBs atm but neither is a wide CB (definitely not Maguire). Conte found workarounds though. He often played Azpi at RCB and a converted winger at RWB (Moses) so in essence a RB and RM squad profile wise. Tuchel was fortunate to have fullbacks that were also natural wingbacks. And both managers had a prime Kante which might've been the most important aspect.

Amorim could be a great coach. But it's a big decision and a summer move imo. Liverpool had the right idea, they didn't want to commit the first team squad to playing a back 5 which is a calculated decision. There's benefits to Man U to going against that but they actually need to give him the squad to make it happen. Giving him the job but an unsuitable squad may irrevocably damage his standing and reputation similar to Rangnick. Similar happened with Emery at Arsenal. He wasn't even that bad but he lost the confidence of the squad and fans and he was done.

Financial Fair Play / Profit & Sustainability

Wages in Spain (outside the big 3) are way lower than the PL anyway. Real already have the highest (i think) wage bill in Europe. The cap is club specific based. Barcelona continue to sign everyone anyway. PFA already beat it in football league. The precedent is set, it's a non-starter. It's a shit idea anyway. If revenues aren't capped, why should salaries be capped? Any kind of anchoring or squad cost metric is a soft cap and better imo. The idea of salary caps is an American import. Elite American sports are all cartels to the benefit of billionaire owners. -
I thought we should've cashed in on Big Joe. Love the bloke though.
