  1. Actually admire Newport County, they've given it their all and put in a worthy performance.
  2. Not in a million years, his team maybe that finished 5th.
  3. Over 3-1 for us to win now, looking more attractive.
  4. If Bruce can't see what is happening here with their wingbacks, near carbon copy of Brighton albeit at a different level, and subsequently change the teams shape and instructions he needs to go.
  5. God I miss Rafa, night and day.
  6. I hear a klaxxon going off, that is the correct answer.
  7. Still trying to wrap my head around the fact Bruce thought sticking with the 4-4-2 was the answer here. That was appalling, but I didn't see much heart in our players either. Where was the guy that would step forward and gee everyone up. Anyone see Bruce though, shouting instructions and changing things up? No, I didn't think so. 4-0 the Spurs next week.
  8. Was it Rob Lee that complained to Keegan about Ginola not tracking back, and Keegan telling him 'Ginola can win a game for us on his own so you'll just have to do extra work' or something similar.
  9. Football is ruined, never a penalty. Retake crazy. But Man Utd don't deserve anything from this game.
  10. We're locked into the fast lane to '1984', Orwellian world last stop.
  11. Watching a compilation video of him I came away thinking it was Matt Ritchie on steroids without the radgie bastard. So strange to have so many attacking options we can't play them all anymore.
  12. I voted zero, I think the bookies have got this badly wrong with us still 3-1 to be relegated. The three signings guaranteed survival for me and if Bruce learns to manage fitness/injury levels better with a bigger squad of eligible players I honestly think mid-table is on the cards. 11th or10th a real possibility*. *subject to revision after a few more games.
  13. Just picture the game with Dummett there and you'll most likely get a better view overall.
  14. I had £20 on us winning 2-0 at 14-1. Placed the bet Wednesday. Cashed out for £50 quid at 1-0 on 69m. £30 profit instead of £280
  15. It's all about the football. Leeds don't have that much actual quality, but they've got Bielsa's philosophy stamped through the team. They seem to have a bit more quality than the team that had Rafa's philosophy stamped through them, and that is no criticism of Rafa whatsoever.
  16. I didn't ask what people would object to, and tagging clubs onto an answer about people and trying to suggest it is the same thing doesn't really work imo.
  17. Regarding the Financial Times article... Source: https://theathletic.com/1963663/2020/07/30/newcastle-united-takeover-withdraw-staveley-ashley-pif-premier-league/ So at that point it appears Bein really got their hooks into the PL somehow. Another issue, and one I want to shift the focus to briefly, is the supposed opposition from other premier league clubs. The only teams I saw specifically mentioned were Tottenham and Liverpool, but let's assume the entire top 6 had reservations along with others. On what grounds would they be objecting? This is a question I can't find an answer to that sounds like anything other than sour grapes.
  18. Well I was curious about this line. "The Premier League has already offered independent arbitration, rejected by the bidders, who say their ownership structure - with the PIF an independent investment vehicle as set out in its charter - and business plan were clear. " Have not seen any mention of that before, and why reject a potential arbitration that might actually agree with them? As far as I can tell the Crown Prince WhateverHisNameIs appointed the director of PIF to run the investment vehicle and doesn't interfere with it. By what right does the PL have to say "We don't believe you". If you go back to that interview with the PIF director, it was posted, he describes how he was appointed and what his remit was for the PIF. He seems to be doing a brilliant job. NUFC would be a tiny slice of PIF's investment portfolio, why the fuck would the Crown Prince be interfering at all.
  19. People knocking the Stavely comment need to take their heads for a shite. What the fuck was she meant to say in the circumstances. Anyway, fuck that. Real rant coming up... Why do all the premier league clubs, outside the big six, not protest FFP. They must see it does them no favours and only serves to widen the gulf. The 'competition' in the premier league is actually degrading year by year as long as it continues. Its bad enough that Sky are so pro big 6 that other clubs are marginalised almost to the point of non-existence. I remember the last time I tuned in early to watch the build up to our game only to listen to them talking about Liverpool and Manchester United for 25 minutes. Finally turning to the actual game they were showing about 6 minutes before kick off. Why the fuck do the audience, that is football fans of all other clubs, just accept this is the way it is? Why would all the non-top 6 clubs listen to Bein Sports requests to object to the takeover. Doing so only reinforces the elite top 6. They may not particularly want a seventh strong club but if they ever want to progress themselves they have to have the freedom to do so and as things stand they can't. The way the PL is now, with the controlling influence of the big 6, it just has to be broken or football is fucked for all but the elite. Is it already too late? I hope not, I hope this current situation serves to restructure some issues that badly need restructuring and I wish the supporters of eg. Villa, Burnley and Everton could understand this too. When are the sports journalists that love the game going to get it? If this takeover doesn't succeed the big 6 will be even stonger and the league suffers. That's my take anyway, generated from a purely selfish and jaundiced eye.
  20. That's life mate, a series of grim experiences interspersed with periods of delusion where you think everything is alright.
