  1. Well impressed with the majority of the Russians, I'd be delighted if we got Zhirkov and Arshavin. Zhirkov could easily convert to LM and become the best LM the clubs had in recent memory by dint of his ability to track back and defend.
  2. In all seriousness though, doesn't sound right, more to this than is apparent.
  3. Get them back the way they were, I feel a petition coming on. Not only are the names "The Leazes" and "The Gallowgate" what remains in the vast majority of supporters minds they're also synonymous with the old city.
  4. Don't think anyone knows what happened that night except Keegan... ... oh and the guy with the baseball bat I suppose.

    Arda Turan?

This thread is going to go ballistic if Turan signs for someone else.
  6. Amazing. They say your memory can reconstruct painful events to make them more palatable. Sam has just proved it beyond doubt for me.
  7. Gomis looks crap, a bulked up Shola. Would love someone like Ribery.
  8. I had a dream two nights ago, speaking to Keegan. Said we were getting two Russians in but didn't react to my quesion 'was one of them Arshavin'.
  9. Yeah, be overtaking Smith and Butt in no time. Twice a sub, 9 minutes into first game picked up a yellow, twenty something minutes into second game straight red.
  10. UEFA president Michel Platini Sunday May 25,2008 By John Richardson UEFA president Michel Platini has warned about football’s mountain of debts following Wednesday night’s Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea, who are in the red to a combined sum of £1.5billion. United’s latest financial figures show them owing £764million, while Chelsea have £736m outstanding. Such debts are not allowed in France or Germany and UEFA would like the Champions League to follow suit. Platini insisted: “This success is being built on an unsustainable level of debt, which makes it an unfair playing field for all clubs.” Struggling to find much about this on the net but I did read more detail in a daily rag, it was likened to dope-fixing in racing. Irrespective of any real or imagined agenda to break a current English monopoly on Champions League final standings this could have interesting effects on the EPL. If they find some way to restrict the amount of debt allowed it levels the playing field a bit and loosens the top 4's hold on the league. Certainly it is unfair if some competitors in a competition have constraints placed upon them which does not apply to all, from which ever direction you look at it. Not sure what they could implement to change it though, money talks unfortunately.
  11. Depressing it was. After reading OP I went to .com and checked it out. Pen and paper later, with everyone drawn on a makeshift pitch and a few crossed out as rather not have, or maybe won't have, and it really was an eye-opener. We're threadbare to make half a good team. Need 3 good to great players and 3 'can step in and do a job whenever asked' players. CB and CM absolute top priority.
  12. Thinking of all the managers that have kept Shola on, Keegan takes one look and says "Get rid."
  13. It's quite normal to pay more when it's spread over a payment period. Even when it says INTEREST FREE in capital letters you still pay more for it. The 3 year price freeze payment plan looks a good deal to me. There is no increase on last years price, nor will there be for the following two seasons either. What's to grumble about? Or I'm reading Crumpy's post wrong.
  14. Every article now has to have that last line in it doesn't it He has a dig at every opportunity. Be a blessing for the club when he retires.
  15. With the benefit of hindsight to add to the weight of personal opinion we were a slipshod affair as a football club. The new regime have yet to get time on their side to confirm appearances, but it looks as though they're going to be running Newcastle United as a business first and a football club second. (Not saying running a football club isn't a business, but there's more than one business model and the EPL is a special case scenario.) Will that improve outsiders views of the overall club stability? Undoubtedly. How long might that take though, a couple of seasons is my guess. And that partly depends on how much Keegan gets his way if there are people rowing in ever so slightly different directions. We'll know more come August, or at least have a better idea.
  16. I was thinking they might bring prices down, or at least pay per view scheme. Twats is right.

    Arda Turan?

When Sicilian women were mentioned it did bring to mind Dennis Hoppers 'fact' from True Romance. Better not go there.

    Peter Crouch

Such a misnomer as well. Crouch.
