  1. Under current regimes I could see Sunderland doing the double over us next season sad to say.
  2. A bit of sense in a thread full of arguments..
  3. But given a choice ONLY between those two, Roeder or Allardyce, which one? (@mrmojorisin75)
  4. I'm wondering how they have the authority, in law, to fine anyone. I'd be taking it to the courts if I was in charge of West 'am.
  5. Paul Fletcher writing for the BBC. But in truth it was a poor game - and an especially disappointing performance from Chelsea. I don't think any Newcastle supporter would describe that as a poor game. Neutrals, what would they think I wonder, is Paul Fletcher nuetral or a Chelsea sympathiser?
  6. If Shepherd succeeds in blocking Owen to play for England will that guarantee the players exit from Newcastle?
  7. The players that need cleared out would leave us so thin that you would need 8 or 9 coming through the door. I am not usually given to pessimism but taking the club as a whole this is a very tricky period, and given their track record you can see where optimism is scarce. More than anything they need a sound 'footballing' plan, get that right and the finances will take care of themselves. If they try and move forward with a half-arsed financial plan they are tempting disaster imo.
  8. A player who is part of a team will be motivated to a certain point. But when things go wrong, a few passes gone astray, a head drops, a goal conceded, another head drops.. it's a good man-manager that makes the difference there, it's that boost to motivation that gets all the players focussed again and can change a game. Roeder clearly doesn't have it, and it's all very well telling it like it is in the dressing room, but it doesn't need to be told to the media. That will achieve the opposite of what you hope for.
  9. I honestly believe in his comment regarding coaching badges. They are unnecessary. Trying to make a rigid formula out of something so plastic will never work, same reason the England set-up is doomed to failure, you need imagination and intuition, not a fucking book of rules, do this, do that!

    Houllier

SBR : DoF. Houllier : Executive 'somethingorother' soon to be manager. Roeder : Awaiting P45.
  11. that Fergie wasn't happy about being kept in the dark and was interested in what we had to say. Now that would be something, SAF picking the team sheet at St James'. That would be a major news day with fans of all clubs staring slack-jawed at the back pages in disbelief. Damn, I'm dreaming now.
  12. Roeder said. "We've done everything we can but there's other teams who haven't had injuries this year. "Please don't write that as an excuse. I don't make excuses. The but makes it an excuse. He's showing all the signs of pressure/cracking.
  13. It's the mental attitude of the player that counts towards a good performance or not. Even a journeyman can look good with a consistent mental attitude geared to winning. Look at a team of footballers who are enjoying life and playing for each other, the team. Now look at the current Newcastle team on the park. There's something badly wrong. And to effect so many players, some of whom have been known to play good football before, it must be in the overall air of the dressing room. There is no-one else to blame except Roeder unless you can identify a rotten apple in the squad who's negativity is affecting half the squad. But again, Roeder should spot that and isolate the infection. Look at Keegans team that came up, half of them were not that special but my God he had them playing with confidence and for each other. A team. Roeder doen't have a team, who else can you blame?

    Eriksson For Toon

The fact that Anal predicted the story and denied it before it happened, followed up by FS rapid denial has me thinking conspiracy, could well be true. Sadly. I think SGE grasp of tactics (that is changing things mid-game to alter the balance of play) isn't that much better than Roeder, which is close to non-existant. God knows how anyone expects the club to progress when the major footballing decisions are made by a scrap-yard junk collector.
  15. Pathetic how many players we lose money on.. yet another sign of bad management from the club.
  16. Not sure that means much atm, many players publically backed Souness and he left. No-one is backing Roeder and ... he stays?
  17. Not sure the England job would be a problem, I think the FA might go foreign again. -Or give Venables the job..-

    Fred's Pledge

I think Roeder would manage to buy the players that are most needed, and most of those would be capable if not even good. What I do doubt is Roeder ability to fashion them into a team as the current squad don't look like they want to play for him anymore. Let's suppose there is a split in the dressing room, with half the lads humpy with Roeder. He gets rid of them and buys in new. Now we have a first 11(15) who are willing to play for him. First game we go behind in it all falls apart again because he doesn't know what to do to change things in a game. Tactical awareness is very poor and not sure of his motivational skills either. Proven manager needed, scouting network needed, good trainers needed. 30m spent in the summer ain't going to fix this club.
  19. TF Quote What would have been comical but is so desperately sad is Milner getting thrown on (did I miss the warm up?) when the crowd chanted his name. Roeder got it completely wrong by taking off Solano however. Jesus. Perhaps we all need to get to the next game early and chant the team sheet to Roeder at 1pm. Class.
  20. It's one good manager away from success.
  21. This is Shepherd, appointing Shearer wouldn't be a gamble in his myopic view.
  22. We are the same Newcastle side that was in the run up to Souness' sacking, almost. It's now obvious it wasn't Glen that lifted the team and got results, it was just the weight of oppression lifting following Souness' departure. Roeder tactical awareness has been exposed time and again, as has his team selections. After todays game there can't be a shred of faith left in his ability. Shepherd is to blame, but I do find myself wondering if some of these supposed transfers didn't come off coz Shepherd was playing canny, knowing he planned to replace Roeder in the summer. (I sincerely hope that's the case, as much as I want Shepherd gone you can't get everything you want.) Roeder knows he's under a great deal of pressure. When he moves from blaming the players for defeat to hinting the opposition and the fans contributed to a loss it's obvious he's on the edge. Would be surprising for him to hold his hands up and take the blame, but it would be honest. It's really quite scary to consider that Shepherd might not actually have decided yet, that he might consider letting Roeder loose on the transfer market in the summer. That's assuming we avoid relegation! I dread to think. Right now I would welcome Roy Keane with open arms, at least he could motivate the players if nothing else. Irrespective of the next manager, (let's assume we can get one), 3 or 4 of the current crew should get their P45's
  23. On the slide? along with the first team, Roeder and Shepherd they're in freefall, but fear not.. Shepherd has a parachute.
