    Steve McClaren

Next up Man U, then Arsenal. Should be interesting. I remember feeling completely flat when he was appointed, nothing has changed but some negativity creeping in already.
  2. Can't understand McClaren's thinking here like. No outlet = permanent pressure = no chance of scoring. Its points you need in a league not keeping the goal difference down.
  3. McClaren reading the game well, had no idea Janmaat was going to get sent off.
  4. Honestly tempted, after todays game, to state he shouldn't even be in the team. One block in no way makes up for every other piece of crap clearly visible. Opposite of Mbemba, will cost us more than provides over a season.
  5. Lad's going to be a beast, will save us many times more than he fucks up.
  6. Better than Colback and that will become very apparent as the lads career progresses.
  7. Would be worried if we had failed to create anything, but we created more than enough to win the game. Didn't see the first half, what did we create? We did force one good chance in the first half. Low cross in from Sissoko to Cisse who was unmarked on the edge of the box, but completely fluffed it. Then Sissoko off the bar. Then Mitrovic open goal. A draw would've been fair imo, but we weren't creating chances left, right and centre by any means. That seemed the biggest disconnect for me. There was a lack of fluency and ideas in the final third. There was some good movement but a lack of cohesion, can only hope it improves and it should do.
  8. I think we have signed 3 class players but have concerns about how McClaren views Mbemba. Most of the youtube highlights on him show him as a RB that loves to get fwd and assist in attacks and goals. If that's McClaren's thinking where does that leave Janmaat? He simply has to be tried at CB as going into a season with just our 3 old familiars seems suicidal. That said, I have to say I noticed a change in Williamson's confidence. Doesn't make him a good player all of a sudden but it has to help. We'll know more after Southampton. I think we're going to be quite disappointed with McClaren sometimes though.
  9. Can't see us controlling a midfield as long as Colback is considered a regular fixture. Taking off the better player in Anita.
  10. FFs, nice to see Mbemba on but at the expense of Janmaat rather than Williamson, meh.
  11. Cisse's touch has been pretty poor so far. We're keeping our shape well esp at the back and for the most part the ball is on the ground. Gladbach are very good at closing down on our wing play and stifling our forward movement there, tripling up on them at times. Definitely not crap compared to last season but it is rather boring.
  12. Some cunt is going to give him a 'welcome to the league' tackle, assuming he doesn't get a broken leg he'll flatten the bastard and get sent off, the press will be on his case ever after. This is Newcastle.
  13. Let's just hope we don't have to wait until he'd dead ala Saville.

    John Carver

I thought 'play a straight bat' meant being honest?
  15. I think we've lacked this kind of guy for a long time, perhaps since Keegan was a one-man motivator. The current backroom staff must have changed the atmosphere there to an infinitely better one that under Carver and Pards.
  16. Those were mere one dollar bills. Of course he's going to be disgusted.
  17. Typical Willo, shove in the small of the back and a wrist pull for good measure.
  18. I voted Janmaat then immediately changed my mind to Wijnaldum. He has the personality to have everyone like and respect him and he just one the Dutch League as captain. No-one currently at the club could get their nose out of joint except maybe Colo, and I don't give a fuck about him - he might even be a little relieved to have less responsibility.
  19. Can't wait to hear the atmosphere.
