Did you watch us in the month prior though? Didn't concede any less, just scored more a lot more, and that certainly wasn't due to pope. Meanwhile, West Ham equaliser, ridiculous Pope punch to a West Ham player for no reason at all and a failure to save the very savable 25 yard strike that followed that gift. Marseille equaliser, goes without saying that was farcical from Pope. We really just need a new keeper in January. Because Pope has too many moments of insanity and Ramsdale, it seems, just isn't good enough generally.

Barnes can't play right side, Gordon can't play right. It's been shown for several games. I'd love it if that suddenly changed. But considering it's been tried many times and never worked for either, I'm very skeptical.

But long term we're fucked if Wissa for Woltemade, Barnes for Gordon, Elanga for Murphy and Joelinton for Ramsey is the entire sum of Howes changes.

So? Are you suggesting players should stop making the right decisions in case a player misses a chance? Barnes has scored plenty of goals in that position. Obviously you should pass if a player is in a much better position to score than you are. If they miss it's on them. If you never make that pass and don't score yourself it's on you. It's on Elanga..

Elanga has players to shoot through/around to even get to the keeper. Barnes only had the keeper to beat if he gets that pass. I'm sure Elanga wanted the goal for himself after running all that way with the ball. But the best option for the team is the pass and he's cost the team by not making it.

Barnes would be straight on direct in front of the keeper with only the keeper to beat if he'd got that pass. Nobody is blaming Elanga there if Barnes missed that.

But if there's nothing on then either come back or run for the wing to get further up the pitch. Which he should be able to do with his pace. Instead he just walked along until the ball was taken away.
