We haven't seen anywhere near the benefits of Champions League yet. We've only qualified, now we need to build on that. It's about FFP not actual cost though. Selling St Maximin for £30m nets us about £24m this season. Buying Barnes for £40m would cost us about £6.6m this season (on 6 year deal for instance). The sale could potentially allow us to make 3 big signings while still fitting into FFP rules. Outside of FFP Barnes is just a better player IMO.
